The great passion for woodwork of the Colombo family
began in 1812. Filippo Colombo founded the company
opening a workshop in the heart of Brianza, set amid its
beautiful hills and lulled by the Lake of Como.
These were years of booming handcraft activities in our
territory and we began our journey crafting furniture for
the Milanese upper-class, who had fallen in love with
seventeenth-century French refinement.
Skills and experience were kept in the family and passed
on from one generation to the next. The first written
document to officially attest the handcraft activity of the
family was signed by the local magistrate and dates back
to the early years of 1900.
The story continued and reached more recent times.
The workshop was small and new spaces were needed:
demand kept rising and had to be met. We chose a large
area because we wanted to set our company inside a park:
we did not want to do without beautiful surroundings.
Afra and Tobia Scarpa were commissioned to design the
8,000-square metre facility in Novedrate that has hosted
the headquarters of ANNIBALE COLOMBO since 1972.

A good designer designs good furniture; a skilled
craftsman builds good furniture. We have both but it is

oltre 1500 mq distribuiti su due piani, che racconta ed
espone - stanza dopo stanza, essenza dopo essenza - il
know-how e l’eccellenza nella lavorazione del legno, che si
tramandano da oltre duecento anni. Per gli appassionati del

in collezione o progettati su misura; lo showroom mostra

where the historical headquarters once stood. A refined
exhibition on two floors stretching over more than 1,500
square metres, telling a unique story: room after room, wood
after wood, the showroom displays the know-how and the
woodworking mastery that has been handed down over

La ricerca della perfezione parte dai nostri valori.
Nel corso della storia in Annibale Colombo abbiamo sempre
difeso, e difendiamo tuttora, la nostra tradizione e la nostra
filosofia: valori imprescindibili che si esprimono attraverso
l’utilizzo di materiali di pregio, tecniche d’intarsio ed intaglio
di altissimo livello e gesti antichi e sapienti che permettono
la realizzazione di incastri precisi, levigature e lucidature,
espressioni di un eccellente savoir-faire artigianale.
Uno dei punti cardine della nostra filosofia produttiva è il
rispetto dell’ambiente: i legni utilizzati non sono selezionati
unicamente per la loro qualità, provengono, infatti,
rigorosamente solo da zone soggette a rimboschimento. Le
tinte sono rigorosamente naturali, all’anilina; la lucidatura
viene eseguita a tampone con gomma lacca per ottenere
un’eccezionale trasparenza e lucentezza delle superfici, e la
finitura con cera d’api, che oltre ad emanare un piacevole
aroma, procura anche un’azione antisettica, proteggendo il
legno dalla polvere e dai parassiti.

Throughout the entire history of Annibale Colombo
we have always striven to defend our tradition and our
philosophy: our essential values express themselves
through the use of high-quality materials, top-end
marquetry and intaglio techniques, ancient artistic
gestures that enable us to obtain clear-cut joints and
smooth finishes - expressions of an accomplished
handwork savoir-faire.
One of the cornerstones of our philosophy is the
safeguarding of the environment. In choosing our woods
quality is not the only factor at stake: all the material
we use is carefully sourced from sustainably managed
forests. All our dyes are strictly natural aniline-based
stains. The polishing is carried out applying shellac
with a felt block in order to obtain an exceptional,
transparent gloss. The surfaces are then finished with
beeswax, which, besides having a pleasant smell, has
antiseptic properties that protect the wood against dust
and parasites.

parte di essi necessita di lavorazioni manuali che nessuna
macchina sarebbe in grado di effettuare. Ne consegue
un’altissima componente artigianale, garantita dagli
addetti alla finitura, scelti e formati per ottenere il risultato
migliore.
Ogni prodotto viene preventivamente montato in fabbrica
allo stato grezzo, prima di essere lucidato e montato per
la seconda volta prima della spedizione.
La nostra capacità unica di interpretare e trattare i materiali
e di creare mobili con il fascino del pezzo unico, viene
sublimata dall’uso di materiali stagionati esclusivamente
con il processo naturale, che rende i mobili compatibili con
il delicato microclima domestico e più longevi. Gli anni a
venire aggiungeranno loro la preziosità che solo il tempo
può conferire.

All of our items of furniture are individually finished;
indeed in many cases no machine could perform the
work carried out by skilful hands. Thus, the handcraft
element is very important and we have chosen our
finishing experts in order to guarantee the best possible
quality.
Every product is assembled once in the factory before
being treated; it is then finished and re-assembled
before being shipped to the customer.
Our unique ability to understand and treat the materials
so as to create products with a distinctive charm is
further enhanced by the exclusive use of naturally
seasoned wood, which makes the furniture more lasting
and suitable for delicate domestic microclimates so that
as the years pass, time will add preciousness to the
furniture.

Ogni grand gourmet sa riconoscere gli ingredienti migliori.
Uno dei nostri principali punti di orgoglio è il nostro caveau
di legname: oltre 60 essenze, tra cui Acero, Amaranto,
Bosso, Ciliegio, Ebano, Frassino, Ipe Tabaco, Limone,
Noce, Pekia, Paduca, Palissandro, Pero, Rosa, Rovere e
Sicomoro.
Ma la selezione dei legnami migliori non è l’unico elemento
determinante per la qualità di un mobile nel tempo.
La stagionatura dei nostri legni è naturale e viene curata
in tutte le sue fasi: dalla corretta collocazione delle tavole
e dei pacchi alla giusta diversificazione secondo i vari
spessori.
È un procedimento più lento e dispendioso rispetto alla
stagionatura forzata con essiccazione, ma garantisce la
stabilità della fibra del legno ed evita collassature interne.
Le tavole vengono intercalate poi da listelli di legno per
favorire una corretta circolazione dell’aria, che permette la
fuoriuscita dell’umidità fino al raggiungimento del valore
ideale per la lavorazione.
One of our greatest reasons for pride is our wood vault,
in which more than sixty types of wood are stored: maple
wood, purpleheart, boxwood, cherry wood, ebony, ash,
ipê-tabaco, citronnier, walnut, pekia, paduca, rosewood,
pear wood, bois de rose, oak, sycamore, and so on…
However, the quality of the wood is not the only element
that determines the quality of an item of furniture over
the years.
We only use natural seasoning procedures for our
woods and we take care of every single phase: from the
correct setting of the boards and of the packages to the
right distribution of the material according to thickness.
This process is lengthier and more costly than forced
seasoning through drying, yet it guarantees fibre stability
and avoids internal collapses.
The boards are separated by wooden splints that favour
air circulation, thus enabling humidity to decrease to the
right level, where the wood can be finally used.
Every great chef knows how to recognise the best ingredients.

diventata il nucleo centrale del prestigioso Grand Hotel
Villa Serbelloni.
Architettura, giardini, affreschi, dipinti, tapezzerie d’epoca,
antichi tappeti persiani: ogni cosa in quell’ambiente riflette
un gusto straordinario per l’arte e la bellezza.
È stato un grande orgoglio per noi essere chiamati,
cinquant’anni fa a contribuire alla sua magnificenza, e da
allora continuiamo a vestirla ed attrezzarla con grande

a wonderful aristocratic villa from the XV century, which
became the central part of the prestigious Grand Hotel
Villa Serbelloni in 1872.
Architecture, gardens, frescoes, paintings, ancient
tapestries, antique Persian carpets: everything in this
environment mirrors an extraordinary taste in beauty
and art.
It was a great honour for us to be asked - fifty years
ago - to contribute to its magnificence, and we have
been furnishing and embellishing it with great style ever
since, focusing especially on the specific needs of each
different room and area.

Not only must the outstanding furniture of the reception visually impress the guests on their arrival, it also has to adapt to all

In una delle località più ambite del mondo, a due passi da
Miami beach, siamo stati chiamati a vestire una residenza
privata con abiti che sapessero unire la leggerezza ad un
grande senso di avvolgenza ed accoglienza.
L’incarico di raccogliere questa sfida è stato affidato ad
Ivano Colombo: un progetto che parte dalla linea sinuosa
del bar e si sviluppa nell’intero spazio fino a creare una
sensazione di continuità fra l’ambiente interno e quello
esterno. Il mare è una location di grande ispirazione ma
vento, sabbia e salsedine sono argomenti da tener bene in
considerazione quando si vuole ottenere una qualità che
si mantenga inalterata nel tempo.
We were called to one of the most prestigious and
fashionable locations in the world, close to Miami beach,
to dress a private home with clothes that combine
lightness with a great sense of warmth and welcome.
The responsibility of taking on this challenge was given
to Ivano Colombo: the whole design starts off from
the winding curves of the cocktail cabinet embracing
the entire location and creating a sense of continuity
between the indoor and outdoor areas.
Living close to the seaside is certainly charming,
although the wind, the sea and the salt are elements
that need to be carefully considered when you aim at a
quality level capable of standing the test of time.

Situato nell’affascinante centro storico di Kiev, con vista
sulle 13 cupole dorate della Cattedrale di Santa Sofia,
l’Ambassador House è un complesso residenziale di lusso
che conta 48 realtà abitative. Chi vi entra viene accolto dalla
tradizione ebanistica di Annibale Colombo. La hall e la
recepiton sono caratterizzate dal tavolo rotondo in radica

Located in the historical centre of Kiev, and overlooking the
thirteen golden domes of the Cathedral of Saint Sofia, the
Ambassador House is a luxury residence consisting of 48
apartments. Annibale Colombo’s cabinetmaking tradition
welcomes the residents: the reception and the hall are
chaatable made of Ferrara walnut briar with solid bois de
rose edges on the stand and on the surface, transversally
worked into the grain of the wood. The second is a finely
hand-carved solid wood dressing table with antiqued
silver finish. In each apartment attention is paid to every
detail, including the choice of lamps and accessories. The
apartments are characterised by the modern style of the art
deco line of furniture featuring cherry wood and Makassar
ebony finished with shellac applied by hand with a felt
block giving an unmistakable brightness and gloss to the
surfaces.

Il progetto nasce diversi anni fa, per mano dell’architetto

dare forma alle sue straordinarie visioni.

We have been working in Pontresina for twenty years,
contributing with our experience to the magnificence of
the Grand Hotel Kronenhof, one of the most significant
testimonies of the Alpine arc architecture of the 19th
century.
This project started some years ago led by architect Jo
Brinkman. Annibale Colombo was chosen to make his
extraordinary ideas come true.

È un luminoso promontorio della Costa Azzurra a fare da
cornice a questa splendida abitazione privata, collegata
ad una piccola isola attraverso un ponticello sul mare.
Si è scelto, per gli interni, di continuare questo leitmotiv
poetico attraverso le mani sapienti dei nostri artigiani.
L’abbiamo arredata interamente in ciliegio, partendo dalle
camere in stile ‘700 neoclassico con intarsi in legno
policromi, o in ‘700 inglese, con intarsi in citronnier,
passando per le zone studio e la zona pranzo, per la quale
si è scelto uno stile più italiano, arricchito dalla radica di
noce ferrarese.

This splendid private dwelling is overlooked by a shiny
promontory on the Côte d’Azur, and is connected to a
small island by a little bridge across the sea.
Relying on the skilful hands of our craftsmen, we have
chosen to furnish this house in the same poetic spirit.
The house is entirely furnished with cherry wood. The
18th century neo-classical or English-style bedrooms
feature multi-coloured and citronnier marquetry, while
the taste of the study and of the dining area is more Italian and is enriched by Ferrara hickory briarroot inlays.

A 45 metres flagship sailing in a sea of luxury.
È uno studio particolare quello che si fa per gli yacht: gli
spazi, il beccheggio, l’umidità e la salsedine, richiedono
soluzioni che fanno da fondamenta sulle quali costruire
l’eleganza che meritano questi ambienti.
In questa splendida imbarcazione composta da tre ponti e
un sundeck abbiamo lavorato principalmente con il noce
Canaletto, un legno caldo e ricco che ha saputo illuminare
ogni spazio con classe.
L’importante tavolo da pranzo, che misura 3,5 mt, è
impreziosito da un piano intarsiato in radica di noce
ferrarese, e con lo stesso stile sono state lavorate le
scrivanie, le poltrone e tutti i tavoli e tavolini dello yacht.
A yacht has special needs: the sea, the salt, the pitching,
the humidity all require specific solutions that can serve
as the foundations on which to build the elegance that
fits this kind of environment. This beautiful vessel with
three decks and a sundeck was mainly furnished with
Canaletto walnut, a rich, warm wood that brightens up
the areas with style. The 3.5 metre-long elegant dining
table is embellished by an inlaid surface with Ferrara
walnut briarroot. The same style has been used for all
other desks, tables, coffee tables and armchairs of the
yacht.

Abbiamo tracciato nuove rotte dello stile con gli arredi di
questo yacht: una miscela ben dosata di ‘700 Neoclassico
e ‘700 Lombardo, insaporita dalla ricercatezza dei materiali
e dall’alta qualità delle finiture, che ci ha permesso di
arrivare ad un risultato finale estremamente raffinato.
La sala da pranzo sul ponte principale, il salone e lo studio
sono stati realizzati in ciliegio massiccio con intarsi in legni
policromi: tavolini, tavoli a bacheca, scrivanie e poltrone,
tutto è stato coordinato per accentuare la finezza degli
ambienti.
Ed ancora, intarsi floreali per il grande tavolo in radica di
noce ferrarese nella veranda del ponte superiore, trattato
poi con una speciale finitura a protezione della salsedine,
che lascia inalterato il sapore e la trasparenza della
gomma lacca.

We mapped new territories of style in crafting the
furniture for this yacht: we carefully blended 18th
century neo-classical and Lombard styles and added
precious materials and high-quality finishes to the mix
achieving an exceptionally refined result.
The dining room on the main deck, the studio and the
saloon were furnished with solid cherry wood inlayed
with multi-coloured woods: coffee tables, display tables,
desks and armchairs are all matching to enhance the
elegance of the vessel.
The great table of the upper deck is made of Ferrara
walnut briarroot and features flowery inlays - this
piece was processed with a special protection finish
that preserves the appearance of the shellac from the
corroding effect of sea spray.

Il quartiere Marylebone è famoso per essere una delle
zone residenziali più chic del centro di Londra. Qui
siamo stati chiamati per creare gli arredi di una esclusiva
residenza privata.
Le linee pulite e formali dello stile Direttorio, scaldate dalle
focose tinte del ciliegio massiccio, ci hanno permesso di
donare a questo ambiente, stanza dopo stanza, tutto lo
splendore del ‘700 italiano. Il tavolo da pranzo, che viene
prodotto nella misura di sedie da cm. 185x110 con tre
allunghe interne, è stato realizzato per l’occasione nella
misura speciale di cm. 350x110 con piano fisso.

Marylebone is famous as one of the most fashionable
residential districts in London. Our company was asked
to design the interiors of an exclusive private house.
The essential, clean lines of the Directoire style, coupled
with the fiery colour of solid cherry wood, have enabled
us to bestow 18th-century Italian splendour on every
room of this splendid house.
The dining table - usually produced with a standard
measure of 185x110 cm featuring three removable
leaves - has been especially crafted with a single top and
measures 350x110 cm.

Abbiamo esaudito con entusiasmo il suo desiderio dando
vita a questo connubio italo-francese, nel rispetto dei
nostri standard elevati ma con un gusto tutto parigino:
legno scuro e legno bianco in contrasto, bianco e verde
acido per gli imbottiti e lavorazioni in foglia d’argento a
donare un tocco di luce alla grande specchiera sopra il
camino e alle sagome e ai profili della boiserie.

amidst original, fine Italian handcraft, you will not easily
settle for anything less. It was this passionate desire

We enthusiastically granted his wishes creating a
French-Italian blend. We kept true to our Italian highquality standards while exploring classic Parisian taste:
contrasting dark and light woods, acid green and white
for the upholstery, silver leaf gildings for the great

Rivestimenti, pareti attrezzate, lo spazio nasce di nuovo.
Annibale Colombo è in grado di enfatizzare e donare nuovo splendore ad ogni ambiente. Nella realizzazione di questa
Villa di Saint Moritz si vede come, dai soffitti al rivestimento del camino, le rifiniture siano state curate attraverso un
meticoloso lavoro di intarsio impreziosito da ormai introvabili dettagli in avorio. Numerosi capitelli corinzi in legno,
lavorati finemente, rifiniscono i rivestimenti alle pareti. Per la stanza da bagno sono stati ricavati sei ambienti suddivisi
da pareti con colonne bifore, trifore e quadrifore, in ciliegio massiccio con particolari ebanizzati. Disegni originali fatti
a mano, appartenenti ad un antico libro di botanica, sono stati applicati al rivestimento con una specifica finitura
antiriflesso, eliminando il vetro.
Annibale Colombo can enhance and give new splendour to any kind of environment. A perfect instance is given
by this villa located in Saint Moritz: from the ceiling to the mantelpiece the decoration has been carefully laid with
painstaking inlay work of delicate and exclusive ivory details. Numerous finely crafted wooden Corinthian capitals
embellish the panelling. The different areas of the bathroom have been mullioned with sets of two, three and
four solid cherry-wood columns decorated with ebony. Original hand-drawn illustrations taken from an ancient
botanical manuscript were inserted in the decor with a specific anti-glare flatting finish to eliminate glass panes.

dark ebony suitable for an interior can be whitened to fit
the Provençal look of an outdoor setting.

La collezione Edward prende il nome dalla prestigiosa libreria che la caratterizza. Realizzata interamente in rovere
massiccio e impreziosita da raffinati capitelli, questa magistrale libreria non manca di regalare ariosità, grazie alla
presenza delle vetrinette anche sui fianchi del mobile.
L’ambiente si riempie di storia e regalità, con l’aiuto dei mobili coordinati: il tavolo, con i suoi intagli e i preziosi intarsi
in marmo sul piano, l’importante lampada, anch’essa intagliata finemente, e il tavolino, con il suo piano intarsiato a
specchio, che si presta a corredare un confortevole angolo relax. Il tocco di classe finale è dato dalla poltrona e dal

Le lucidature vengono eseguite manualmente con tampone di gommalacca e cera, oppure verniciature all’acqua. Per questo motivo si consiglia di pulire
regolarmente le superfici con un panno morbido ed asciutto, e all’occorrenza passare un sottile velo di cera d’api solo sulle finiture a gommalacca.

Non utilizzare assolutamente prodotti per la pulizia a base di alcol, ammoniaca, solventi, abrasivi o cere sintetiche per mobili.
s
Evitare di appoggiare a diretto contatto con le superfici oggetti particolarmente caldi come teiere, piatti o pentole che sono causa di aloni bianchi dovuti alla
reazione della gommalacca e alcol al calore intenso.

Evitare di appoggiare oggetti particolarmente ruvidi e/o pesanti che potrebbero provocare abrasioni, graffi o ammaccature alle superfici.

INLAYS
Ogni intarsio è disponibile unicamente per la collezione nella quale viene presentato
e non è possibile applicare un intarsio diverso da quello raffigurato. Unica eccezione
è rappresentata dal programma “New Quadro”, per il quale oltre al colore è possibile
sciegliere qualunque intarsio per i frontali di ante e cassetti (non per i top e fianchi
che restano in ciliegio).
Every inlay is available for the collection where it is showed and it is not possible to change
it with an other one. The only exception is the “New Quadro” program where you can
choose the inlay for the front of doors and drawers (not the top and sides).
