The term "art supporters" is applied
to those who, because of their interest in culture,
philanthropy, or particular talent, in some way
promote, publicize, or "make" art.
Among the many varied expressions of the world
of art, at Mabef we have a predilection: we have
been supporting paintings by artists of all over
the world for almost sixty years. Since 1948 we
have been making wooden easels for painters.
The passion, creative spirit and expertise which
led Albino Bruno Mariotto to create Mabef
were the reasons for our immediate success;
today, these qualities still lie at the root of our
wide range of quality supports and other objects
for artists.
Over time, we have gained considerable experience in the Fine Arts, which has allowed us to

Particolare attenzione e rigore sono posti nella
scelta della materia prima che deve garantire precise doti di durezza e solidità.
Il legname destinato alla produzione degli "strumenti" Mabef è esclusivamente massello di faggio evaporato di prima qualità proveniente da
zone dove è garantita l'immediata piantumazione:
così anche le generazioni future potranno dipingere una foresta "dal vero".
La finitura delle superfici è realizzata con oli naturali che conferiscono protezione nel tempo ed esaltano la naturale bellezza del legno.
Per gli imballaggi sono utilizzati solo cartoni
accoppiati con colle naturali che ne consentono il
riciclaggio.

We give special care and attention to the selection of the best raw materials to make sure our
products are hard and solid.
Mabef "instruments" are made exclusively
from evaporated solid beech wood from areas
where replanting is immediate; we want to make
sure that future generations, too, will be able to
paint a forest "from life".
We finish our products' surfaces with natural
oils to conserve them and enhance the natural
beauty of the wood.
Our packaging is made entirely of cardboard
with natural glues which permit it to be recycled.

Le fini des surfaces est obtenu par des huiles
naturelles qui garantissent la protection au
cours des ans et qui exaltent la beauté naturelle
du bois.
L'emballage est à bases de cartons joints à la
colle naturelle, permettant ainsi leur recyclage.

La madera destinada a la producción de los
"instrumentos" Mabef es exclusivamente haya
evaporada de primera calidad, proveniente de
zonas donde se garantiza la inmediata repoblación, de forma que también las generaciones
futuras podrán pintar un bosque "en vivo".
El acabado de las superficies se realiza con aceites naturales que proporcionan una protección
duradera en el tiempo y exaltan la natural belleza de la madera.
En los embalajes se utilizan solo cartones unidos
con colas naturales que se pueden reciclar.
Debido a la elevada calidad, hoy Mabef, ve los

so werden allgemein alle diejenigen genannt, die
die Kultur, die Philantrophie oder bestimmte
Talente auf irgendeine Weise fördern und verbreiten und dadurch Kunst "machen".
In der Welt der Kunst mit ihren zahlreichen und
verschiedenen Ausdrucksformen kommt der
Firma Mabef ein ganz besonderer Verdienst zu:
seit 1948 produzieren wir Holzstaffeleien und
fördern somit seit beinahe sechzig Jahren die
Malerei der Künstler in aller Welt.
Und heute wie damals, als Albino Bruno
Mariotto die Firma Mabef gründete, widmen

Für alle Staffeleien unserer Produktpalette wird
ausschließlich
massives,
eingedampftes
Buchenholz erster Qualität verwendet, das aus
Gebieten stammt, in denen eine unmittelbare
Neuanpflanzung stattfindet, so daß auch für die
nachfolgenden Künstlergenerationen ein natürlicher Grundbestand gewährleistet ist.
Die Oberflächenveredelung über Naturöle
unterstreicht die natürliche Schönheit des
Holzes und erteilt den Produkten einen besonderen Schutz, der über lange Zeit erhalten bleibt.
Für die Verpackung der Staffeleien wird ausschließlich mit natürlichen Klebstoffen verleimter,
recyclebarer und umweltfreundlicher Spezialkarton verwendet.
Die hohe Qualität unserer Erzeugnisse wird von
Künstlern in aller Welt geschätzt, für die die
Mabef-Staffeleien zu wahren und unzertrennlichen "Lebensgefährten" geworden sind.

Andrea Cardile lives and works in Milan. He has
won various prizes including the Premio città di
Milano and the Premio San Fedele. His latest oneman exhibition at the Galleria Ammiraglio Acton
in Milan was entitled "Cartoline da un naufragio" (Cards from a Shipwreck). He designed the
poster for the Todi Festival, where he unveiled his
one-man exhibition "Finzioni" (Pretences) which
was presented by Emilio Tadini. His works form
part of the public and private collections of
Dell‚Orto, Cohan, Winthertur and Isnardi. They
are included in the PAC (Milan Museum of
Contemporary Art) Grassi Collection. Preparations are underway for the Cardile 19902000 exhibition in the Museum of Asolo.

Andrea Cardile vive e lavora a Milano.
Ha ricevuto diversi premi fra i quali: il Premio
città di Milano, il Premio San Fedele. Ultima
personale a Milano “Cartoline da un naufragio” alla Galleria Ammiraglio Acton.
Ha disegnato il manifesto per il Festival di Todi
dove ha inaugurato la personale “Finzioni” presentata da Emilio Tadini.
Sue opere sono presenti in collezioni pubbliche e
private: Dell’Orto, Cohan, Winthertur, Isnardi.
Presente al PAC (Museo d’Arte Contemporanea
di Milano), Collezione Grassi.
È in preparazione la mostra “Cardile 19902000” al Museo di Asolo.

It was at the beginning of the eighties at the tender age of 30 that I took the masochistic decision
to be an illustrator, thus giving up a career as an
industrial expert and a secure future as a
department head. But instead here I am messing
around with a brush for paintings and cartoons
for clients who are more and more demanding
and difficult, advertising agencies that split
hairs into four, and tight-fisted publishing houses. I've done illustrations for posters, all kinds of
press adverts, catalogues and manuals, packaging, school textbooks, book covers, and leaflets

È all'inizio degli anni '80, alla tenera età di
30'anni, che prendo la masochistica decisione di
fare l'illustratore, abbandonando la carriera di
perito industriale e un sicuro futuro come caporeparto.
E invece eccomi qui a pasticciare con i colori su
tele e cartoni per clienti sempre + esigenti e
pignoli, agenzie pubblicitarie che spaccano il
capello in quattro e case editrici piuttosto spilorce. Ho fatto illustrazioni per manifesti, pagine
pubblicitarie di ogni genere, cataloghi e manuali, package, testi scolastici, copertine di libri,
depliants farmaceutici, alimentari, tecnici, abbigliamento e sportivi.

Annita Casolo was born in Milan in 1959. She
graduated from the Accademia Belle Arti di
Brera and has been a teacher of fine arts since
1982, as well as a book illustrator for
Mondadori.
Currently she runs courses for children in her
atelier situated in the old centre of Milan. Her
aim is to stimulate their creativity and encourage personal expression using different materials, colours and techniques

Laura Claus was born in Milan in 1970 and
after finishing art school, attended the European
Design Institute, specialising in illustration.
Following her studies she worked as an illustrator for several publishers and at the same time
began working with studios specialising in decoration.
In this context she refined the techniques of
trompe-l'oeil, simulated marble and gilding.
Since 1995 she has run her own studio in
Milan.
Laura Claus
Nata nel 1970 a Milano, Laura Claus ha frequentato, dopo aver conseguito la maturità artistica, l’Istituto Europeo di Design specializzandosi in illustrazione.
Conclusa l’esperienza scolastica ha lavorato
come illustratrice naturalistica per diverse case
editrici affiancando a quest’esperienza le prime
collaborazioni con laboratori di decorazione.
Proprio in questo contesto affina le tecniche del
Tromp-l’Oeil, dei Finti Marmi, della Doratura.
Nel 1995 apre il suo laboratorio a Milano.

■ Garanzia internazionale
Ogni prodotto Mabef è stato sottoposto ad
un accurato controllo di qualità e ad un
attento collaudo prima di essere confezionato.
Benchè si ponga la massima cura nella scelta
degli elementi, per garantire la migliore uniformità del prodotto, si potrebbero riscontrare
variazioni di colore o di venatura; tali differenze sono caratteristiche intrinseche del
legno e non costituiscono difetti.
Il cavalletto Mabef è garantito contro tutti i
difetti di fabbricazione per la durata di un
anno.
Tale garanzia non copre difetti che siano conseguenze d'uso improprio o abusivo, incidenti o danni verificatesi in occasione del trasporto.
■ International warranty
Every Mabef product has undergone an
accurate quality control and a careful test
before being packed.Even if the choice of raw
materials is carried out with the utmost care
to assure the best product uniformity, some
changes in colour and grains could be noticed. These differences are wood intrinsic characteristics and not flaws.
Mabef easel is guaranteed against all the
manufacturing defects for one year. This warranty does not include any defects caused by
an improper use or accidents or damages
occurred during transport.
■ Garantie internationale
Chaque produit Mabef, a été contrôlé avec
soin pour ce qui concerne la qualité et a été
attentivement essayé avant d'être conditionné. Même si les éléments sont choisis avec un
très grand soin, afin de garantir la meilleure
uniformité du produit, on pourrait relever
quelque variation de couleur ou de veinure. Il
s'agit de caractéristiques intrinsèques du
bois, pas de défauts.
Le chevalet Mabef est garanti contre tout
défaut de fabrication pendant la durée d'un
an. Cette garantie ne couvre pas les défauts
causés par un usage impropre ou abusif, par
des accidents ou des dommages arrivés pendant le transport.
■ Manutenzione
Per fare risaltare la bellezza del colore e delle
venature originali del legno, idratarlo e preservarlo da screpolature, si consiglia : per le
finiture naturali di utilizzare olio di lino
crudo; per quelle verniciate prodotti a base di
cera d'ape, entrambi da stendere con un
panno morbido.
Trattandosi di materiale "vivo", il legno massello è soggetto a cali o dilatazioni in seguito
a variazioni di calore e/o umidità che possono
causare una leggera instabilità del prodotto o
un lieve attrito delle parti scorrevoli. Per eliminare tali inconvenienti si raccomanda di
serrare o allentare le viti e/o dadi di bloccaggio a seconda del problema riscontato.

Pour que la beauté de la couleur et des veinures originales du bois puisse être mise en évidence, pour hydrater le bois et le préserver des
crevasses, on conseille: pour les finitions
naturelles d'utiliser de l'huile de lin cru; pour
celles vernies des produits à base de cire d'abeille, qui doivent être touts les deux étalés
avec un chiffon moelleux.
Puisqu'il s'agit de matériel "vif", le bois massif peut avoir des déchets ou des dilatations
suite à des variations de chaleur et/ou d'humidité qui peuvent causer une legère instabilité
du produit ou un léger frottement des parties
coulissantes.
Pour éliminer ces inconvénients on recommande de serrer ou de desserrer les vis et/ou
les écrous de blocage selon le problème.

To keep its natural colour in the original wooden
grains and to moisturise the wood preserving it
from cracking, we suggest that you:use linseed
raw oil for natural finishings, use products
made with bee wax for lacquered finishings,
both to be applied with a soft cloth.
As we are dealing with "live" material, solid
wood is subjected to shrinkage or expansion
owing to changes in heat and/or in dampness
which can cause a slight instability of the product or a light friction of the sliding parts.
To remove these inconveniences, it is suggested
to tighten or to unloosen the screws or the nuts
according to the problem.
Mabef reserves the right to modify the characteristics of its products without notice.

■ Garantía internacional
Cada uno de los productos Mabef ha sido
sometido a un exhaustivo control de calidad y
a una meticulosa inspección antes de ser
embalado.
Pero, a pesar de que ponemos el máximo cuidado en la selección de los elementos para
garantizar la homogeneidad del producto
final, éste podría presentar algunas variaciones de color o vetas, que son en realidad
características propias de la madera y por lo
tanto, no pueden considerarse defectos.
Los caballetes Mabef están garantizados
durante un año contra cualquier defecto de
fabricación.
La garantía no cubre defectos derivados de un
uso inadecuado, maltratos, accidentes o
daños ocasionados durante el transporte.
■ Internationale Garantie
Jedes Mabef-Produkt wurde während der
gesamten Produktion laufend einer genaunen Qualitätskontrolle unterzogen.
Sollte trotzdem eine berechtigte Reklamation
auftreten, leisten wir für die Dauer von
einem Jahr ab Kaufdatum nach unserer Wahl
Kosten-oder Materialersatz für Produktions
und Materialfehler bis zur Höhe des
Gegenwertes des gekauften Mabef-Produkts.
Mabef haftet nicht für Schäden durch
unsachgemäße
und
mißbräuchliche
Verwendung
oder
Transportschäden.
Maserungs und Färbungsdifferenzen entstammen der Natürlichkeit des Rohstoffes
"Holz" und sind deshalb kein Grund zur
Reklamation.

■ Mantenimiento
Para resaltar la belleza del color y de las vetas
originales de la madera, hidratarla y evitar
que se agriete, es aconsejable aplicar con un
paño suave un producto protector.
En el caso de la madera con acabado natural,
se debe utilizar aceite de linaza crudo y para
la madera barnizada, productos a base de cera
de abeja.
La madera es un material "vivo" y, como tal,
reacciona a las variaciones de temperatura y
humedad mermando y dilatándose, lo que
puede provocar una ligera inestabilidad del
producto o una ligera fricción de las partes
deslizantes.
Para solventar este inconveniente se recomienda apretar o aflojar, según sea necesario,
los tornillos o las tuercas de sujeción pertinentes.
■ Pflege
Pflege erhält die Schönheit der Farbe und die
Maserung und bewahrt das Holz vor
Austrocknung und Rissebildung. Wir empfehlen, die geölten Staffelei ab und an mit
rohem Leinöl einzulassen. Lackierte
Staffeleien sollten mit Produkten aus
Bienenwachs eingerieben werden.
Da es sich um ein"lebendes" Material handelt, kann das Holz infolge von Wärme und
Feuchtigkeitseinwirkung an Volumen zubzw, abnehmen. Dies kann, je nach Problem,
durch Lösen oder Anziehen der
Schraubverbindungen reguliert werden.
Dadurch erhalten sie die Stabilität und
Leichtgängigkeit der beweglichen Teile.
