Course presentation
The course in Economics and Techniques for the Conservation of the
Architectural and Environmental Heritage has been jointly established
by the University of Nova Gorica, Università Iuav di Venezia, and is carried
out in collaboration with other international universities and institutions
Objective of the programme
The aim of the programme is to offer a critical, technical and scientific education,
integrating university achievements.
It offers a wide knowledge of operational sciences and techniques for the
legislation surrounding and management of the conservation of the architectural
and environmental heritage.
Programme schedule
The duration of the Master programme is one year.
It features a preliminary common teachin period which further divides
in two specializations:
> Techniques and Materials in Conservation of the Architectural Heritage;
> Managerial Science and Economics of the Cultural Heritage”.
Students that successfully accomplish the master course may be admitted
to the PhD, with a following recognition of 60 ECTS: in this case the PhD
continues for 2 years, for a total duration of three years.
The official language is English. Lectures are in English and Italian.
Description of specializations
The first year of the programme includes three educational periods:
> the 1st period (12 credits) is compulsory for the two specializations and focuses
on theoretic-methodological issues and the knowledge of architectural and
environmental heritage (preparing the scientific education of the second and third
period);
> the 2nd period (28 credits) is divided into two specializations:
- Techniques and Materials in Conservation of the Architectural Heritage
- Managerial Science and Economics of the Cultural Heritage;
> the 3rd period (20 credits) includes thesis elaboration, tutoring and stage (if
required).
The accomplishment of the Masters (MsC), which requires total attendance of
courses, and final evaluation, will assign 60 university credits (ECTS); the Doctoral
Programme will assign 180 credits (ECTS).
A certificate of attendance will be issued after each period.
