Benchmarking probabilistic methods for seismic hazard and ground motion representation and their effect on risk assessment of structures; this effort focuses on probabilistic modeling of the entire ground motion time-history and employing advanced simulation techniques for rare-event reliability assessments. Curriculum Vitae Fatemeh Jalayer DISSERTATION “Direct Probabilistic Seismic Analysis: Implementing Non-linear Dynamic Assessments”, under the supervision of Professor C. Allin Cornell. Developing an analytic basis for probabilistic seismic risk assessment of structures; based on which a family of design formats suitable for implementation in seismic guidelines were derived. In particular, derivation of demand and capacity factor design (DCFD) --already implemented in SAC/FEMA guidelines. Implementing data obtained from alternative non-linear dynamic analysis procedures in this analytic basis in order to make system reliability assessments.
