Roma, 16 dicembre 2010 Oggetto: Iscrizioni Anno Scolastico 2011­2012.­ Cari Genitori, appena dopo le vacanze invernali apriremo le iscrizioni al prossimo anno scolastico, che come è stato anticipato nell’incontro tenutosi in Luiss con tutte le famiglie si svolgerà nella sede attuale, mentre a partire dall’anno scolastico 2012/2013 tutta la Scuola si trasferirà nella nuova sede, progettata e costruita secondo i più moderni criteri in funzione delle nostre esigenze. Il sostegno che tutti Voi avete assicurato alla Scuola attraverso la partecipazione, lo stimolo costante e la fiducia nel processo di sviluppo che sin dall’inizio abbiamo avviato nella nostra Scuola, ci hanno consentito di operare per il meglio, individuando una soluzione logistica che offre le più ampie garanzie, in termini di qualità, di stabilità e di elevatezza degli standard, ma anche –grazie alla localizzazione in area attigua al quartiere in cui la scuola ha sede attualmente­ di effettivo contenimento dei disagi legati al trasferimento della struttura. Oggi possiamo confermare, con legittimo orgoglio per tutti i membri della nostra comunità scolastica, che anche dal punto di vista delle strutture fisiche RIS ha tutte le carte in regola per proporsi come Scuola di eccellenza. Sul nostro sito web abbiamo pubblicato le immagini del progetto di massima della nuova scuola, in modo che anche chi non ha avuto la possibilità di partecipare all’incontro di presentazione del progetto possa verificare la fondatezza delle nostre affermazioni. Ed è particolarmente importante sottolineare come tutto questo sia stato possibile grazie alla convinzione, da parte della proprietà della Scuola (che come sapete fa capo a Luiss, attraverso Pola srl), che questa Scuola sia un asset sul quale investire, come è stato fatto e continuerà ad esser fatto nei prossimi anni. Come abbiamo detto anche in altre circostanze, se è vero che attribuiamo la giusta importanza alla questione logistica (fondamentale anche per le prospettive di crescita del numero delle classi, in particolare nella high school), restiamo convinti della centralità della qualificazione dell’attività formativa. In questo senso, le iniziative già adottate, a partire dall’integrazione tra nuove tecnologie e didattica all’offerta di nuove ulteriori opportunità di apprendimento e di crescita per i nostri studenti (nuovi insegnamenti, club gratuiti, partecipazione alla redazione del Monthly Magazine, partecipazione a selezionate iniziative organizzate dall’Università, ecc.), saranno ulteriormente sviluppate. Avendo assicurato la copertura wireless dell’area della Scuola riservata alla Middle and High School, estenderemo la sperimentazione dell’utilizzo degli Ipad anche agli studenti che a partire dal prossimo anno scolastico si iscriveranno in Grade 10, con le stesse modalità utilizzate quest’anno per gli studenti di G 12 e G 13 (comodato d’uso gratuito). Anche per il prossimo anno scolastico, inoltre, manterremo forme di incentivazione basate sul merito a favore di chi si iscriverà in G 10 e le estenderemo al G 11, coerentemente con il nostro intento di avere classi di high school con elevato potenziale. Manterremo inoltre la riserva dell’80% dei posti della Nursery a bambini che non siano di madrelingua italiana e restano confermate le innovazioni introdotte già lo scorso anno (abolizione della fase delle pre­ iscrizioni; apertura delle iscrizioni in contemporanea anche agli studenti esterni; accesso alle classi di inizio ciclo medio­superiore ­G 7 e G 10­ previo test di ingresso anche per gli studenti già iscritti alla RIS; aumento delle ore di lezione per gli studenti di G 9 che intendono sostenere gli esami di licenza media ­ orario scolastico differenziato e conseguente differenziazione della retta). Ricordiamo poi che RIS è una IB world school per quanto riguarda il Diploma Programme ed è un centro autorizzato per gli esami della High School secondo lo standard GCSE, pertanto tutto il personale insegnante segue le attività formative funzionali al mantenimento di tali requisiti, oltre a quelle dirette allo sviluppo professionale promosse dalla Scuola. Nel prossimo anno scolastico RIS si aspetta di conseguire la certificazione relativa al Primary Years Programme (PYP) per la nostra Elementary School, completando così il piano di accreditamento agli standard IBO che è nei nostri progetti ed entrando così a far parte del ristretto circolo di IB world school che offrono più di un programma IBO. Per quanto riguarda i contenuti dell’attività didattica nelle singole classi e nei cicli in cui l’attività della scuola è suddivisa, Vi ricordiamo che sul sito web www.romeinternationalschool.it potete trovare, oltre al Piano dell’Offerta Formativa con tutte le informazioni di carattere generale, schede illustrative per avere una panoramica completa sul percorso didattico proposto. Naturalmente i Principals ed i loro collaboratori sono a Vostra disposizione per ogni approfondimento che riteneste necessario. Dal punto di vista economico, che ha una propria rilevanza nel processo decisionale relativo alla scelta della Scuola, anche quest’anno
abbiamo operato per mantenere alla RIS una posizione comunque competitiva rispetto ad altre scelte effettivamente comparabili sul piano didattico. Venendo agli aspetti operativi conseguenti all’apertura delle iscrizioni, a partire dalle date di seguito indicate per ciascun gruppo di classi, l’Admissions Office sarà a Vostra disposizione per assisterVi nella compilazione della domanda di iscrizione, che potete intanto consultare sul sito web della scuola unitamente alle tabelle delle fees (qui comunque allegate). L’esito della domanda sarà comunicato ufficialmente al più tardi entro 7 giorni lavorativi dalla presentazione (ovviamente la Scuola procederà alla immediata restituzione di quanto versato all’atto della presentazione della domanda nel caso in cui la domanda non fosse accettata). Le modalità di pagamento delle fees e delle tasse di iscrizione sono contenute nella scheda allegata alla presente comunicazione. Richiamiamo l’attenzione sulla tempestività nel procedere all’iscrizione giacché, allo scadere dei termini indicati per ciascun gruppo di classi ai fini della presentazione della domanda, la RIS non sarà tenuta a garantire la priorità agli studenti interni. A tale proposito, precisiamo che fino alla scadenza dei predetti termini, il limite per l’accettazione di eventuali domande di iscrizione presentate da studenti esterni è costituito dalla differenza tra il numero massimo di alunni ammissibili nella classe di destinazione e il numero di studenti iscritti nel corrente anno scolastico nella classe di provenienza. Successivamente alle scadenze indicate per ogni gruppo di classi, RIS prenderà in considerazione tutte le domande esclusivamente sulla base dell’ordine di protocollo di presentazione. Quanto agli studenti interni che, all’atto della presentazione della domanda di iscrizione in G 7 o in G 10, potrebbero non aver superato il test di accesso che avrà luogo entro la fine di gennaio 2011, si procederà anche per quest’anno all’accettazione con riserva, rinviando all’esito dell’eventuale prova suppletiva (prima della fine del corrente anno scolastico) il perfezionamento dell’iscrizione stessa. Ricordiamo che, a garanzia della trasparenza per le famiglie, alcuni costi che hanno una specifica destinazione in quanto remunerano servizi addizionali sono esposti separatamente nella tabella delle fees. Il pagamento di tali importi avverrà alle scadenze indicate dalla Scuola entro settembre 2011 (ad es. le fees relative agli esami da sostenere al termine di G 10 e di G 11). RE: Registrations for the academic year 2011‐2012 Rome, December 16 th 2010 Dear parents, Immediately after the winter break, enrolments will open for the next academic year, the duration of which will be in our current premises at Via Panama 25. As confirmed at the presentation held for parents at the Luiss University on the 15 th December, the whole school will transfer to a new site, beginning with the new academic year 2012/2013. This site has been planned and purpose‐built to meet our needs, following a carefully studied project befitting an international school which has been entrusted to offer a superior education to students between 2 and 18 years of age. Thanks to the collaboration, support and trust which you have given us, we have been able to find a solution which guarantees Rome International School the quality, stability and high standards expected of an International School of prestige, whilst minimising any difficulties which such a transfer could mean, also thanks to the new site’s close proximity to our present location. With justifiable pride, we are now confident that, also regarding the physical structure of the school, RIS can confirm itself as a school of excellence. Those of you who were not able to attend the meeting at the Luiss University can find pictures of the new school site project on our website. We would like to stress the importance of underlining that this success has been made possible because of the conviction of the School’s owners (Luiss University, through Pola srl) who continue to maintain that RIS is an asset which deserves their on‐going investment; in the future as in the past. Although the question of the space available to our school is obviously of paramount importance, allowing us the possibility of a natural expansion throughout and including an increased number of parallel classes, especially in the High School, we remain totally convinced about the essential importance of our didactic educational offer at RIS. Evidence of this can be seen in the initiatives which have already been taken, from the introduction of the newest technology to the possibility of further learning opportunities and growth for our students (new courses, free extra‐ curricular clubs, participation in the monthly school magazine, participation in the selection of initiatives organized by the University etc.). Our intention is that these initiatives will be developed even further. Having ensured wireless coverage in the school reserved for the Middle and High department, we also intend to extend the Ipad trial to students who will enrol in Grade 10 as from next year, with the same rights as those reserved for this year’s Grade 12 & 13 students (free loan of use). Furthermore, for the next academic year, we will maintain incentives based on merit in favour of those students enrolling in Grade 10 whilst extending this offer to Grade 11, coherent with our intention of having High school classes with the very highest academic potential. Moreover, we will continue to reserve 80% of all Nursery places for those children who are not Italian mother ‐ tongue and we confirm the measures introduced last year (elimination of the pre‐registration phase; opening of the registration period for both internal and external students simultaneously; admissions tests to access the Grade 7 and Grade 10 academic cycles even for students already enrolled at RIS; an increase of weekly hours for those Grade 9 students intending to take the Middle School Italian exam (licenza media) which will result in a different timetable with consequent differentiation in the school fees. We remind you that RIS is a fully qualified IB world school for the Diploma Programme and an authorized GCSE centre, therefore all teaching staff receive full training in order to meet all requirements, in addition to those aimed at personal professional development promoted by the school. During the next academic year, RIS expects to obtain the formal certification relative to the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for the Elementary School, in this way completing accreditation according to the standards of the IBO and becoming part of that inner circle of IB World Schools who offer more than one IBO programme. With regards to the educational programmes for each class and the departments into which the school is divided, we would like to remind you that you can find this information on our website www.romeinternationalschool.it. something which obviously has a significant role in the choice of a school, this year we have once again made every effort to maintain a competitive rate in relation to other schools offering similar educational programmes. Moving onto the practicalities concerning the opening of registrations, we inform you that, as from the dates for the relative year groups as indicated below, our Admissions Office staff will be available to assist you in completing the enrolment request form, which is already available on our school website together with the table of fees (herein attached). You will be notified as to the outcome of your request within 7 working days following your application. Naturally, any payment presented at the time of application will be refunded should your registration request not be accepted by the school. The method of payment for both registration and school fees can be found in the table attached. We would like to emphasise the importance of a timely registration application in view of the fact that, once the indicated period for any class group has expired, RIS will not be able to guarantee admission to its former internal students. We wish to make it clear however, that until the registration period deadline, admission to external students will be limited according to the maximum number of students allowed in one class and the number of internal students already enrolled in the upcoming class. After this deadline, RIS will consider all individual requests, internal and external, on a first come, first served basis. With regards to internal students who have presented an enrolment request for Grade 7 and Grade 10 and who may not have been successful in the admissions test scheduled for the end of January 2011, once again this year they will be offered a provisional acceptance which will reserve his/her place in the class. Formal acceptance will be subject to the achievement of positive results in additional tests to be taken before the end of the current academic year. In order to guarantee our full transparency to our families, we have published those costs which have a specific purpose in providing additional services, in a separate table to that of the fees.
