The plant has been realized by Ansaldo with the Molten Carbonate Fuel Cells (MCFC) technology, with a power of 500KW . The peculiarity of this plant is the high degree of innovation: -the hydrogen fuel cells are a very good answer to the future needs of the power supply market thanks to the high thermal efficiency and the very low environmental impact, and to the ease in extracting the exaust CO2 for a subsequent treatment; - the MCFC cells have an high flexibility since they have a multifuel capability, that is they can use not only hydrogen as a fuel but also other gases. The Fast supply includes the electrical cabinets for the process management and for the safety system and, most important, the software development for DCS system together with the realization of the graphical supervision pages for all the plant areas. Because of the peculiarity of the system, the software development required a modular architecture to guarantee an high flexibility in order to make it easy and low cost (in terms of time and money) the opportunity of modifying the system "on the field" to answer the needs of an evolving structure. Fast & REA: the reference plant for waste-to-energy in the European panorama The customer REA Dalmine manages a waste-toenergy plant (ITR NOY 400) located in Dalmine (BG), consisting of two indipendent lines, each one able to despose up to 150,000 tons/year of waste. The electrical power production is up to 19 MW. The waste-to-energy processes Combustion: • Reciprocating grate • Monitoring and control system Energy recovery: • Steam production with advanced thermodynamic characteristics Gas emission treatment: • Cool & clean patent realized in 5 steps using a completely dry system Fast realized the Distribuited Control System for the R.E.A. waste-to-energy plant The modern Control Room, equipped with 4 plasma monitors, allows the visual monitoring of the plant state, including images from cams and sounds from microphones as well. The real time data of the plant emissions (percentage of chemical components in the exhaust smoke) are available also in local government offices to allow easy checking by the citizens. The plant supervision software has been developed with PLANT VIEW HMI SCADA and exchanges data with the DCS system that masters the production process.
