Built almost 2000 years ago, the Pantheon remains a mystery up to this day.
Light and architecture form a unity. The only source of light is the circular opening at the apex of the cupola. The sun defines time and space through light and
colour. It is this balance which Chris Redfern wanted to express in the design
of PANOS infinity and PANOS evolution: light approaching natural daylight. Light
with pleasant colour temperatures and the option to adjust them to an individual’s preference. A luminaire that disappears in architecture. It is as small and
simple as possible, yet at the same time very powerful and efficient. In other
words: a luminaire for the future that will still be popular and still work perfectly
in the future.

Second-to-none in efficiency
Highest luminaire efficiency
With a luminaire efficiency of up to 120 lm/W*, PANOS infinity has
again set new standards on the market. This is achieved through
the use of innovative LED multichannel technologies featuring red/
white boards and other high-grade components that are combined
within the optical luminaire system.
Powerful lumen packages
With a luminaire luminous flux of 1000, 1800 or 2400 lumens, both
the PANOS infinity product range and the PANOS evolution product range cover all typical downlight applications. Thus the two
ranges are recommended as economically efficient alternatives in
all application areas where single- or twin-lamp downlights fitted
with 18 W, 26 W or 32 W compact fluorescent lamps used to be
installed.
Dimming or switching
The standard version of PANOS infinity is dimmable via DALI, which
opens up great potential for further energy savings: Intelligently
controlled lighting solutions reduce power consumption by 70 per
cent. PANOS evolution offers a switchable 230 V converter as
standard, but is optionally also available with DALI control gear.

With Ra levels exceeding 90, PANOS infinity stableWhite ranks first
among LED downlights in terms of quality. The outstanding colour
rendering index is based on a special multi-channel technology,
where the intelligent interplay of highly efficient white and red LEDs
ensures that virtually the entire light spectrum is rendered – including the long-wave red range. In addition to the colour temperatures
offered (4000 K and 3000 K), warm 2700 K are available for the
‘global’ product range.
PANOS evolution
PANOS evolution includes numerous product features of PANOS
infinity, combining them with efficient and at the same time highpower single-channel phosphor LED modules as well as a colour
rendering index of Ra > 80. Tried-and-tested technologies such as
efficient thermal management and a wealth of reflector options
ensure excellent lighting quality, featuring colour temperatures of
4000 K, 3000 K and, in the global version, 2700 K.

Thanks to the unique Pi-LED technology, PANOS infinity tunableWhite covers the entire white spectrum from 2700 K to 6500 K,
providing excellent colour rendering of Ra 90 with any colour temperature, so that all options of individual adjustment of the colour
temperature are available, to follow the natural course of daylight,
for instance, or to provide accent lighting to object surfaces.
Control is possible either via the LITECOM lighting control system
or using CIRCLE tune control units.

PANOS infinity warmDimming
warmDimming | 2700 K to 1800 K
warmDimming technology allows for LED downlights to produce
pleasantly warm light at low illuminance levels – similar to that of a
conventional incandescent lamp. PANOS infinity warmDimming provides a colour temperature of 2700 K at full illuminance and reduces
it to 1800 K at the lowest dimming level. The colour sequence along
the Planckian curve with levels of Ra 90 across the entire colour
spectrum ensures maximum lighting quality.
Glare-free, highly efficient light for workstations
All PANOS infinity and PANOS evolution downlights meet the requirements specified in EN 12464 for lighting in offices and communication rooms. The glare control factor of UGR < 19 is achieved by
the ‘High’ version through the high-quality HF or HG reflector. With
the ‘Low’ version, good glare control is ensured by an inner anti-glare ring. Since this ring, which is available as an accessory, is
attached inside the reflector, it can also be used for the frameless
version.

formed reflectors made of high-quality polycarbonate,
Zumtobel ensures optimum light distribution. Depending on
the model, these are refined using various technologies –
such as the sputtering of the reflectors in specular silver
finish. This razor-thin aluminium surface applied using a
vacuum process provides for extremely high efficiency
levels.

First-rate thermal management ensuring a long service life
The entire PANOS range features a highly efficient passive cooling
system. Special cooling ribs use an extraordinarily large cooling
surface, despite the compact luminaire diameter. As the LED board
and heat sink are closely connected to each other, the perfect cooling system ensures an extremely long service life of the module.
PANOS infinity and PANOS evolution boast a service life of 50 000
hours at L80.

Future-proof module system
The modular cartridge system ensures the future of the PANOS infinity and PANOS evolution downlights. Because a few easy steps
are sufficient to replace the LED module with a new one. The LED
mixing chamber and the cooling system were combined to form a
unit, in order to guarantee a thermally ideal connection of the LEDs
to the cooling attachment even after replacement. The control gear
boasting a large wiring compartment and optional through wiring
is connected to the module via a plug-in system.

Easy to install
Being optimised in some details, PANOS infinity and PANOS evolution still include the tried-and-tested installation functions of the
PANOS range: The reflectors are simply attached to the LED module via a twist-and-lock fastener, while a mounting ring provides for
safe fastening of the luminaire on the ceiling. In line with this fastening concept, planar rings are inserted and levelled into the ceiling
for quick and easy installation of the frameless luminaires.

Thanks to a consistently maintained concept of benefits, the small
PANOS infinity global and PANOS evolution global downlights are in
no way inferior to the big downlights. Made for international rollout
of lighting concepts, they allow for regionally required adjustments

Lighting quality meets efficiency
PANOS infinity wallwashers provide very good and uniform illumination, directing the light precisely to where it is actually required
dependant on the application. A low system output is sufficient to
obtain high vertical illuminance levels. Optical systems with specially
designed asymmetrical reflectors achieve excellent luminaire efficiency levels of > 80 lumens per watt. Thus, the luminaire and the
lighting concept help to save energy.
stableWhite models with luminous flux levels of 800 lumens, more
than 1000 lumens or more than 1800 lumens are an economically
efficient alternative to wallwashers with conventional compact
fluorescent lamps and HIT lamps. Using PANOS infinity tunableWhite wallwashers, completely new lighting situations with variable
colour temperatures can be implemented. The PANOS infinity wallwasher 150 cannot fail to impress with its superior lighting quality,
which is achieved by an asymmetrical highly specular reflector together with an additional built-in domed MPO lens.

Application
There is more than just one good reason to use PANOS infinity wallwashers. They are the perfect solution for a variety of lighting tasks
such as:
• Room atmosphere: vertical illuminance levels make a room appear larger, creating a brighter and more pleasant atmosphere.
• Visual comfort: vertical illuminance levels facilitate looking around
in a room, since the human eye requires less adaptation.
• Sense of security: vertical illuminance levels facilitate orientation.
• Balance: mounted at some distance from the windows or on the
opposite side, vertical illuminance levels provide a well-balanced
atmosphere to compensate for the high luminance levels of daylight.
• Saving energy: general lighting can be focussed to, and create
zones in, those areas where visual tasks have to be performed.
• Directing attention: vertical illuminance levels put the focus on
vertical visual tasks such as those provided by shelves, retail or
exhibition areas.
The recommended levels of vertical illuminance depend on the
application area in question: levels of approx. 175 lx are suitable
for offices, while in museums the level may vary between 50 and
200 lx, and 200 lx are ideal for shops.

Design and installation
Design tips
When designing a lighting solution, the following principles have to
be kept in mind:
•In order to illuminate walls uniformly, the distance to the wall
should be about one third of the room height or slightly less.
•A shorter distance to the wall also reduces the risk of glare and
improves lighting efficiency, but also decreases uniformity.
•To achieve uniform light distribution across the entire surface of
the wall, the ratio of minimum and maximum level of illuminance
should be at least 1 : 2.5.
•If the spacing between luminaires more or less corresponds to
the distance from the wall, horizontal uniformity is achieved.
•In case of high rooms, a reduction of spacing between luminaires
is recommended.
•To achieve uniform illumination of a wall by overlapping several
light distribution areas, at least three wallwashers are required.

Arrows lead the way
When installing mounting frames or planar rings, the important thing
is to align the arrow to the area to be illuminated. Then everything
else is quite simple. When inserting the wallwasher, just make sure
that the arrow markings on the luminaire and on the mounting frame
overlap. Thus, the wallwasher – with frame or frameless – can easily
be positioned with high precision. Thanks to the tried and tested
twist-and-lock mechanism, installation is extremely easy.

Wherever structural conditions require for downlights to be surface-mounted or for luminaire units to be visible, PANOS infinity
and PANOS evolution surface-mounted housings are the perfect
solution: Featuring a traditional circular or square design, the luminaires are only 206 mm in height, which is even further reduced
to 122 mm in the flat square model with increased external volume.
In a stylish and unobtrusive manner, the white housings made of
die-cast aluminium blend into any interior.
The housings are available as accessories for the PANOS infinity
and PANOS evolution standard versions.
