Start With the Light
Today lighting electronics is driven from the power side
5000K
•
•
A component level strategy cannot deliver an energy managed solution
Power metrics like ripple, step response etc. do not quantify the consequences
of these designs on lighting
A lighting solutions should deliver light - not power

The aLC (ams Lighting Controller) is a code that runs on the PIC24F:
• Interfaces the TSL4531 or TCS3472 on one side
• Connects The PIC24F to the LED drives AS3691/6 on the other side
• Process the information from the sensors for daylight processing or color temperature processing to
generate adequate light plus commissioning
• Code can be run on a custom processor with the ams Lighting API
• Code is licensable royalty free, provided is is used with ams lighting products
TSL4531 – Digital Daylighting Sensor
Not just a photo diode
A photo diode does not have a Photopic view
• It does not see what human eye sees
• It does not reject IR, without external filters
• It has an analog output that needs to be calibrated
TSL4531, is a true Daylight ALS
Photopic view & rejects IR
Measures daylight without saturating up to 220 kLux
Sophisticated filtering – Noise/AC ripple rejection Mode
