WHAT IS ROTARY INTERNATIONAL :
A BIG SERVICE ORGANIZATION

The first service club of the world was the Rotary Club of Chicago (Illinois- USA)
established the 23rd of February 1905 by a lawyer – Paul P. Harris – and three of his
friends: a textile merchant, a dealer of coal and a mining engineer.
International
The intention of Paul Harris was to live again the
friendly atmosphere between the merchants of the
village he has grown up with.
The name “Rotary” comes from the habit to reunite
rotating at the working place of every partner..
The primary target of Rotary was to get a social service in the community, at work and
for the international community
The Rotary International is an association created by representatives from different
professional sectors – men and women – ready to offer a voluntary service to
reach a better life quality for the own community and for the international

What is “CYCLING TO SERVE”
THE FELLOWSHIP DEVOTED TO CYCLISTS

At the inside of Rotary International with the years came up the “Fellowships”,
groups of people sharing the same interests organized benefit activities in the
name of their sporting passion and their hobby.
The slogan “making friend by sharing interest” shows what the Rotary represents
for real, the principle established and became with the own strength the
biggest service organization of the world.
“Cycling to serve” is the slogan dedicated to the
cyclists and offers every year moments of meeting
between the enthusiasts, the friends and the public
generally.
BELGIO 2006
The most important event is the World
Championship of Cycling giving the chance to all the
partners all over the world to show their talent, strictly
non professional, passing through a passionate
challenge organized in places with touristic interest.
The idea of this Fellowship was born voluntarily in 1988 of a few Rotarians from
Belgium and Holland united by a huge passion for the cycling.

The target is to put together the sporting entertainment and the benefit aim:
the winner of each category receives as price contributions to put in concrete
initiatives chosen from the own club.
What is “CYCLING TO SERVE”
THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN ORTA SAN GIULIO (NO)
2007 arrived the first proposal from Piemonte, in the beautiful areas of the lake
of Orta, the province of Novara, happening already for the second time in Italy.

The Rotary Club Orta San Giulio will take care of manifestation organisation, young
and friendly started in 2002 on the beautiful sides of the lake from which the
representative town got its name.
By tradition the manifestation will happen in September, the week-end of Friday the
7th, Saturday the 8th and Sunday the 9th of September 2007
The route of the race affects the Mottarone, touristic location, on 1000m height
between The lake of Orta and the Lake Maggiore.

The route will be 2 km long, with the view of the beautiful panorama.
WHAT IS “Feel Your Passion_ Italy 2007”
OUR SAYING , OUR PASSION
“Feel your Passion – Italy 2007” is the slogan characterizing the 23rd edition of the
Rotary Cycling World Championship.

This Italian event was able to be realized thanks to two indispensable factors.

OLANDA 2005
Above all the demonstration of passion, organization
and enthusiasm the club expressed for the last three
years of participation to the World Championships in
Belgium, Holland and Switzerland.
But without any doubt thanks to the great interest of
Giovanna Mastrotisi, President 2005-2006 of the club,
she was the one in these years keeping in touch with
the board of the Fellowship trough the Italian referent
Mario Grilli.
The effort was on the culminating point with the confirmation of attribution for the Rotary
Cycling World Championship 2007 to Italy and for the Rotary Club Orta San Giulio

The manifestation came up with aim to offer a
week-end of sport and entertainment for
Rotarians from all over the world and for all
cycling lovers wanting to visit the Mottarone
as simple tourists. They will also put their own
contributions to the benefit manifestation.

Big festival on Mottarone with world champions of cycling reserved to
the members of Rotary International
Collateral manifestation with cycling races reserved to the children and
extraordinary exhibition of the world champions from the past.

Gastronomic and folkloristic entertainment taken care by the boards and
associations of the area.

THE AIM OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP
“Feel your Passion_Italy 2007” is the slogan characterizing the 23rd edition of
the Rotary Cycling World Championship.

Translated literally, we link it together with the sporting passion and transform it to
humanitarian passion uniting it to a prestigious project to realize thanks to the
precious contribution of all, wanting to support the manifestation.
The Rotary Club of Orta San Giulio has chosen as
object the collecting of 50.000 Euro to found a
part to the health Centre of Masango in Burundi,
leaded by the Congregation of the Sisters of
Charity of Novara, already more than 20 years
missionaries of these areas.
MASANGO _ Burundi
Sister Cellina, born in Novara, is the responsible of the Centre, she’s been helped by
three nurses, voluntaries and staff of the area, trying to teach until they are able to
operation support of the structure. She offers her service to an always growing
population and she’s becoming a point of reference for health for the population of
Masango.

The concrete objective of the manifestation is to enlarge
the hospital at Masango: the partners Franco Piola
and Daniele Moscatelli, besides being the promoters of
the initiative, they are going to be involved as primary
person in the realization of the structure

The aim of the initiative is first of all the benefit to see in the article of the

The manifestation wants to get also a moment of huge entertainment and great
hospitality for the Rotarian friends from all over the world – sportsmen, but not only
– to enjoy the beautiful area.
Feel your Passion – Italy 2007 is a vehicle to make people talk about cycling
and so bringing attention to the Rotary and everything that has to do with it.
In the last years the manifestation was able to get together hundreds of cyclists each
edition and the gala evenings registered up to 400 participants.
The Rotary Club Orta San Giulio will be able to
dispose a charming natural circuit used in the best
way: there are about a thousand presences
expected for Saturday 8th of September on the
Mottarone.

The huge visibility and the prestige of the event can be used as advertising and
promotion media with great effect.

next March, in five languages.

the Championship

pictures about the manifestation,
transmitted in anticipation besides being
