SICILIA TRA I CASTELLI NORMANNI
1°Giorno: Catania Arrivo dei Signori partecipanti in un’azienda agricola alle pendici dell’Etna e pernottamento.
2° Giorno: Catania/Bronte Prima colazione in hotel. In mattinata partenza per Bronte per la visita dello straordinario Castello di Nelson
e dell’Abbazia di Maniace, costruito durante la reggenza di Margherita di Navarra. Rientrando a Catania e percorrendo la vecchia strada
dell’acqua, possibilità di ammirare i tre castelli normanni edificati nel XII Sec. :Motta, Paternò e Adrano. Rientro in azienda e pernottamento.
3° Giorno: Etna/Catania/Fiumefreddo Prima colazione in azienda con o suoi magnifici prodotti Bio, partenza per la visita dell’Etna, il
vulcano attivo più alto d’Europa, fino ai Crateri Sivestri a quota 1800 m., dove si avrà la possibilità di ammirare l’ultima colata lavica. Quindi
visita di un’antica cantina a degustazione dei vini dell’Etna, visita di un caseificio con degustazione di ricotta o mozzarella. Nel pomeriggio
visita del Catello Ursino (1239), voluto da Federico II di Svevia, uno splendido esempio di costruzione medievale. Visita della Cattedrale,
dedicata a Sant’ Agata, circondata da forti e massicce mura. In serata trasferimento a Fiumefreddo a visitare un famoso castello. Rientro
in azienda agricola e pernottamento.
4° Giorno: Enna/Piazza Armerina/Morgantina Prima colazione in azienda agricola, partenza per la visita del Castello di Lombardia
dell’XI- XIII sec. d. C., a Enna e di una Pinacoteca. Nel pomeriggio proseguimento per Piazza Armerina, dove in Agosto si celebra il famoso
Palio dei Normanni e visita della famosa Villa Romana del Casale, quindi Aidone con gli scavi della vicina Morgantina. Arrivo in serata a
Palermo in un elegante Boutique Hotel, tempo per un’ora al centro benessere e pernottamento.
5° Giorno: Nicosia Prima colazione in hotel, partenza per Nicosia, sistemazione in hotel. Nel pomeriggio visita della cittadina, conquistata
dal Conte Ruggero nel 1063, con particolare interesse per la Cattedrale, con il famoso soffitto ligneo del 1400, la Basilica di Santa Maria
Maggiore con la Icona del Gagini ed i suoi Palazzi baronali. Rientro in hotel e pernottamento.
6° Giorno: Sperlinga/Gangi Prima colazione in hotel, partenza per la visita del castello di Sperlinga. Nel pomeriggio proseguimento per
Gangi, caratteristica cittadina medievale arroccata sul monte Marone. Rientro in hotel e pernottamento.
7° Giorno: Palermo Prima colazione in hotel, partenza per la visita della splendida Cattedrale normanna, del Palazzo Reale con la magnifica Capella Palatina e la Chiesa di S. Giovanni degli Eremiti che conserva le tombe dei Re Normanni e dell’ Imperatore Federico II di Svevia.
Nel pomeriggio visita di Monreale, residenza estiva dei re normanni e visita della splendida cattedrale. Rientro in hotel, cena dell’arrivederci
e pernottamento.
8° Giorno: Palermo Prima colazione in hotel e Arrivederci.

Day 1: Catania Arrival of the participants at the airport “Fontanarossa”, Catania. Accommodation in the rooms in an ancient farmhouse
surrounded by vineyards along the slopes of Mount Etna and overnight.
Day 2: Catania/Bronte Breakfast at the farm with traditional organic products. In the morning departure for Bronte to visit the extraordinary “Castello di Nelson” and “Abbazia di Maniace”, built during the kingdom of “Margherita di Navarra”. Return to Catania, where you
will admire the three Norman Castles, built in the XII century, along the “Antica strada dell’Acqua”: Motta, Paternò and Adrano. Return to
the farm and overnight.
Day 3: Etna/Catania/Fiumefreddo Breakfast at the farm, departure for the visit of Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe,
the wooded craters and latest lava flow. Then visit the ancient cellars to taste the wines of Etna, visit a cheese factory with tasting ricotta
or mozzarella. In the afternoon visit of “Castello Ursino”. In 1239 Holy Roman emperor Fredrick II of Swabia comissioned the building of
Castello Ursino. The Norman fortress is a magnificent example of the middle-age building art. Visit of the Cathedral, dedicated to the city
protector, Saint Agatha, and surrounded by ponderously thick walls. Transfer to Fiumefreddo to visit a famous castle. Return to the farm
and overnight.
Day 4 : Enna/Piazza Armerina/Morgantina Breakfast at the farm departure for Enna, visit of the castle of Lombardia and a very interesting gallery. In the afternoon further to Piazza Armerina, where in August is celebrated the famous “Palio dei Normanni” and visit of “Villa
Romana del Casale” and Aidone with the excavations of the near Morgantina. In the evening arrival to Palermo, accommodation in the rooms in a boutique Hotel & SPA of Interlude Hotels and time for Wellness entry (sauna, steam room and jacuzzi with waterfall)and overnight.
Day 5: Nicosia Breakfast at the Boutique Hotel and departure for Nicosia. Afternoon dedicated to the visit of the town conquered by Conte
Ruggero in 1063. Of particular interest are the Cathedral, with its famous wood ceiling, the “Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore” with a Gagini’s
Icon and his Baronal palaces. Return to the hotel and overnight.
Day 6: Sperlinga/Gangi Breakfast at the Boutique hotel, departure for Sperlinga, visit of the Castle. In the afternoon up to Gangi, characteristic middle-age little town placed on Mount Marone. Return to the hotel and overnight.
Day 7: Palermo Breakfast at the Boutique hotel, departure for the visit of a splendid Norman’s Cathedral, of the Royal Palace with his
magnificent Palatine Chapel, the Church of S. Giovanni degli Eremiti and the splendid Cathedral, which hosts the tombs of the Norman
kings and the Swabian emperor Frederick II. In the afternoon visit of Monreale and the splendid cathedral return to the hotel , Arrivederci
dinner in restaurant and overnight.
