Una storia
di successo
Mottura serrature di sicurezza SpA viene fondata a Torino negli
anni che hanno caratterizzato il maggior sviluppo industriale
dell’Italia. L’ Azienda cresce rapidamente e si espande subito
a livello nazionale, acquisendo una spiccata specializzazione
nei prodotti di sicurezza per l’edilizia privata.
Nasce presto l’esigenza di estendere i reparti produttivi e l’azienda
si trasferisce in un nuovo, ampio stabilimento, disposto su un’area
di 35.000 mq di cui 20.000 coperti, nella zona industriale
tra Sant’Ambrogio ed Avigliana, in provincia di Torino.

story
Mottura serrature di sicurezza SpA was founded in Turin
in the years that saw Italy’s greatest industrial expansion.
The company grew rapidly and immediately expanded
throughout the country, specializing in home
security products.
Production facilities soon had to be enlarged and the company
moved to a new and larger plant (35,000 m2, 20.000 of which
are covered) in the industrial zone between Sant’Ambrogio and
Avigliana in the province of Turin.
Negli anni ’80 nuovi impianti produttivi vengono progettati
in previsione di un ampliamento della gamma prodotti.
In particolare si punta sulle casseforti per uso privato,
di cui si avverte una grande domanda.
In the ‘80s, new production plants were designed in
anticipation of a wider product range,
with special attention to home safes,
for which enormous demand is perceived.
La cassaforte Mottura diventa sinonimo di qualità e
affidabilità, in abbinamento alle serrature di sicurezza,
progettate per una facile installazione sulle porte in
legno. La naturale evoluzione della linea casseforti porta
all’introduzione dei modelli per hotel, resort, barche.

designed for easy installation on wooden doors.
The natural evolution of the safe line led to the
introduction of models for hotels, resorts, and boats.
Inizialmente le casseforti vengono prodotte manualmente,
ma a partire dai primi anni ’90 vengono installati nuovi impianti
robotizzati che favoriscono un deciso miglioramento dei livelli di
efficienza produttiva e aumentano sensibilmente la qualità del
prodotto finale, come l’impianto di taglio lamiera al laser.

increased both efficiency and the quality
of the finished product.
La produzione cresce rapidamente e trova sbocco anche all’estero.
Aumentano i volumi ed il fatturato con incrementi a due cifre.
Mottura diventa leader incontrastato nel settore serrature ed
accessori per la sicurezza, in Italia.
A metà degli anni 90 inizia un periodo di profonda
e consistente ristrutturazione interna. Da questo
momento l’azienda assume la struttura tipica delle
più moderne realtà industriali internazionali:
vengono create nuove funzioni aziendali
strategiche per operare su un mercato in crescita,
nasce il reparto esperienze (ricerca & sviluppo),
fondamentale nel trasferire il know-how dalla
progettazione alla produzione.
Il reparto di progettazione viene ampliato, vengono creati
laboratori interni di prove e collaudo, avviando la collaborazione
con i più importanti istituti di certificazione a livello internazionale.
Il lancio di nuovi prodotti sul mercato avviene a ritmo serrato.
La presenza sui mercati internazionali si intensifica,
come la partecipazione alle fiere di settore.
Emblematico è il caso delle serrature per porte blindate che
rappresentano un esempio tipico di questo periodo di sviluppo.
Negli anni ’90 trova grande accoglienza in Italia la porta di
sicurezza intesa come porta d’ingresso per abitazioni private
con dispositivi contro lo scasso e l’ effrazione.
Il cuore della porta blindata è la serratura.
Di conseguenza cresce enormemente la richiesta di
serrature Mottura di nuova concezione,
appositamente progettate per offrire la massima
resistenza su una porta blindata.

Production grew rapidly and expanded to foreign markets, with
higher volumes and a double-digit increase in turnover.
Mottura became Italy’s undisputed leader in the lock
and security accessories sector.
The company was completely reorganized in the
mid-90s, adopting the structure of a
modern international industry.
New strategic positions were formed
to handle operations
on a growing market,
and an R&D department was created
to transfer know-how
from design to production.
The design department was expanded, internal test and
inspection laboratories were created, and cooperation with top
international certification institutes was begun.
New products were quickly launched, and the company
increased its presence on international markets
and in trade exhibitions.
Locks for armoured doors are an outstanding
example of the company’s production in this period.
In the ‘90s, armoured doors
(i.e., the front door of homes,
with devices to prevent picking and break-in)
became very popular in Italy.
The heart of an armoured door is its lock.
As a result, there was an enormous increase in
demand for Mottura’s new locks, specifically designed
for maximum resistance on armoured doors.
Anche le tecniche di effrazione e scasso si perfezionano, ma i
tecnici Mottura rispondono colpo su colpo con costanti
miglioramenti e perfezionamenti dei prodotti.
Il prodotto storico per eccellenza è la serratura a doppia mappa
che dalla sua introduzione ad oggi ha subito un’incessante
evoluzione progettuale e tecnologica, seguono le serrature
per cilindro europeo e quindi un nuovo cavallo di
battaglia: le serrature “plurisistema” che combinano
entrambi i sistemi di chiusura basati sulla
doppia mappa e cilindro europeo.
L’idea è semplice ma efficace, a tal punto che presto i
principali produttori di porte di sicurezza costruiscono
un gran numero di porte con serrature “Plurisistema” Mottura,
perché è il mercato stesso che le richiede.
Nel 1997, in una trasmissione TV realizzata per tutelare i
consumatori, viene condotto un test di resistenza allo scasso tra
la serratura “Plurisistema” Mottura e quattro analoghe serrature
della concorrenza. La serratura Mottura risulta essere mediamente
più resistente del 50% rispetto alla seconda classificata. Ad oggi
questa linea è la più numerosa in termini di modelli e varianti.
Nel 1999 Mottura ottiene la prestigiosa certificazione
del sistema qualità UNI EN ISO 9001 e progressivamente
certifica tutte le principali linee di prodotto, con i
migliori istituti internazionali, secondo le normative
di prodotto che si diffondono a partire dal 2000.
Nella sezione certificazioni (pag. 6) vengono elencati
tutti i prodotti certificati e testati.
Nel 2000 avviene il lancio dei cilindri di sicurezza a profilo
europeo CHAMPIONS, con modelli innovativi di alta gamma,
che si impongono come prodotti tecnologicamente
avanzati. La presentazione sui mercati internazionali
avviene nella culla del “cilindro a profilo europeo”, alla
fiera internazionale della ferramenta “Eisenwarenmesse”
di Colonia, Germania: un successo completo!
Con i cilindri di sicurezza Champions, Mottura mette in campo
anche nuove strategie di marketing basate sulla fidelizzazione
dei partner commerciali “Mottura Club” i quali gestiscono
attivamente la duplicazione delle chiavi. Un concetto
innovativo come la protezione dei duplicati diventa il
“core business” di tutti i centri Mottura Club.
Ad oggi sono centinaia in tutta Italia.
La duplicazione protetta delle chiavi si evolve fino al punto
da rendere Mottura la prima azienda che certifica anche il
processo di duplicazione delle chiavi per cilindro europeo
Champions, attraverso l’Istituto di certificazione
dell’industria meccanica ICIM.
Mottura serrature di sicurezza SpA oggi è leader riconosciuto
nella produzione di serrature per porte blindate.
Completano la gamma le serrature per serramenti
di vario genere, i cilindri di sicurezza, le serrature elettroniche
motorizzate, le casseforti per uso privato e per Hotel.

Of course, picking and break-in techniques evolved as well, but
Mottura’s engineers remained a step ahead with constantly
improved products.
Mottura’s product par excellence is double-bitted lock,
which has constantly evolved in design
and technology since its introduction. The same
is true for locks with Europrofile cylinders
and for the company’s new warhorse:
Plurisystem locks that combine the double-bitted
and Europrofile locking systems.
The idea was simple and ingenious, and top armoured door
manufacturers soon began to make large numbers
of doors with Mottura Plurisystem locks
to satisfy market demand.
In 1997, on a consumer-protection TV programme, a test was
conducted on the picking resistance of the Mottura Plurisystem
lock and four similar locks by competitors. The Mottura lock
was on average 50% more resistant than the runner-up.
This line currently has the largest number
of models and versions.
In 1999, Mottura Spa obtained the prestigious UNI EN ISO 9001
quality system certification and progressively
certified all of its main product lines
with the best international institutes
according to the standards issued in 2000.

In 2000, the CHAMPIONS line of Europrofile security
cylinders was launched, and its innovative, high-end
models that were quickly acknowledged as
technologically advanced products. Their introduction
on international markets took place in the cradle of the
“Europrofile cylinder”: the “Eisenwarenmesse” international
trade fair in Cologne, Germany. An enormous success!
With Champions security cylinders, Mottura also launched new
marketing strategies based on developing the loyalty
of “Mottura Club” partners, who actively manage
key duplication. This innovative concept
of protected duplication became the “core business”
of all of the hundreds of Mottura Club
centres throughout Italy.
Protected key duplication has progressed to the point
where Mottura is now the first company
to certify the duplication process for Champions
Europrofile keys through ICIM (Istituto di
certificazione dell’industria meccanica).

steel tubes. In a very compact space,
they maintain the security characteristics
of locks for armoured doors, such as

stainless steel plates, and the ability to install
