Educational Objective:
The 2015 Symposium aims to increase awareness and disseminate knowledge about the potential
indications and techniques for intracranial radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiotherapy in a time
when these treatments are quickly spreading in Europe.
The event will be divided in four multidisciplinary sessions focused on several body systems:
prostate, brain, liver and lung, ranging from the basics to more advanced concepts of radiosurgery
and stereotactic radiotherapy, including technological challenges, patient safety, quality , state of
the art and the future of their clinical applications. Practical demonstrations of TAC simulation,
treatment planning, quality control and motion analysis will be conducted on the morning of the
next day, but the demonstrations are not accredited CME.
Such structured program, which relies on the international reputation of UPMC and its extensive
clinical experience, is an exceptional opportunity for the knowledge dissemination of these
important treatment techniques for the cure of cancer patients in Europe and worldwide.
