1. PROFILE SUMMARY
Gianpaolo Abatecola is a Senior Research Fellow (equivalent to Senior Assistant Professor) in
Management at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, from which he earned a Degree (laurea) in
Business Administration (Supervisor Prof. Roberto Cafferata) and a PhD. in Management and
Organizational Behavior. He then served the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa as a
post-doc scholar.
The various outlets of his research currently count 19 authored (or co-authored) articles in peerreviewed journals (12 hits in international and 7 hits in national), 1 book monograph, 2 co-edited
books, 1 co-edited journal special issue, and 8 authored (or co-authored) chapters in edited books.
In particular, Dr. Abatecola has published in the following “4” and “3” ranked journals (ANVUR,
2012): European Management Journal (4, single authored), Futures (4, single authored), Corporate
Governance (3, co-authored), International Journal of Management (3, co-authored), Journal of
Management and Governance (3, co-authored), Journal of Management History (3, co-authored).
Also, he is currently co-guest editing a special issue of the Journal Management and Governance
about “Organizational Evolution. Darwinism, Environmental Fit, and Survival”.
At Tor Vergata, Dr. Abatecola currently teaches: 1. General Management – Module I (formerly
Enterprise Management and Evolution, graduate level, in English, Master of Science in Business
Administration), 2. Advanced Management (graduate level, in English, Master of Science in
European Economy and Business Law); 3. Managerial Decision Making (graduate level, in Italian,
Master of Science in Economics and Management). In this University, he also taught Real Estate
Management (graduate level, in Italian, Master of Science in Economics and Management).
Over time, Dr. Abatecola has also taught, as Visiting Professor or Guest Lecturer, in the following
foreign Universities: Sheffield University Management School (UK), LEE University (USA),
Metropolia Business School (Finland), Inholland University of Applied Sciences (The
Netherlands), Instituto Superior de Comunicacao Empresarial (Portugal).
Since 2012, Dr. Abatecola has been serving the EURAM Conference as the co-chair of the track on
“Darwinism, Organizational Evolution, and Survival”. At the same time, he is an active member of
the following international institutions: American Academy of Management, British Academy of
Management, Strategic Management Society, European Association for Evolutionary Political
Economy.
Dr. Abatecola is an active reviewer for a number of management journals and currently serves the
Editorial Board of: Current Progress Journal, Graduate Journal of Research, Undergraduate Journal
of Research.
Finally, he serves Tor Vergata as a faculty member of the PhD. programme in Business
Administration, a faculty member of the Master of Science in Business Administration, and the coprogramme manager of the Master’s Degree in Real Estate Management. He also supervises a
number of students at both doctoral and graduate level.

Vergata University. As the Tables show, this data reflect the performance associated with the
following classes taught: 1. Managerial Decision Making; 2. Enterprise Management and
Evolution; 3. Real Estate Management. Please, note that the data for 2012/13 have to be considered
as still in progress. Furthermore, the data associated with the Advanced Management Classes are
still not available. On this premise, the evaluations’ score can range from 1 (minimum) to 4
(maximum). Substantially, as the data show, the evaluations for the Classes mentioned above are,
