Ninfa, figlia di Penèo e di Gea. Inseguita dal dio Apollo che voleva possederla a tutti i
costi, pregò la madre Gea di salvarla. Allora Gea, la mutò in alloro. Apollo, innamorato,
staccò un ramo dalla pianta, se ne fece un serto e volle che la pianta gli fosse consacrata.

Nymph, daughter of Peneus and Gaia. Pursued by Apollon, who desired her at all costs, she
begged for protection from her mother Gaia, who changed her into a laurel tree. Apollon, who
was in love, broke a branch from the plant, placed it on his head as a wreath and wanted that the
plant was consecrated to him.

Nella mitologia greca Calliope (in Greco “colei che ha bella voce”) era la musa della
poesia epica, figlia di Zeus e Mnemosine, conosciuta come la Musa di Omero,
l’ispiratrice dell’Iliade e dell’Odissea. Ebbe due figli, Orfeo e Lino, il cui padre, a seconda
delle leggende, era Apollo, oppure Eagro, il re della Tracia. Era la maggiore e la più
saggia delle Muse, nonché la più sicura di sé.
CARATTERISTICHE
Calliope è l’unica collezione dove l’applicazione della foglia oro o argento avviene sia
nella struttura in ferro che nelle parti in cristallo come le bobeche.

In Greek mythology, Calliope (“beautiful-voiced” in Greek) was the muse of epic poetry, daughter

accecatosi per la consapevolezza di avere ucciso il padre e avere sposato la madre, fu
scacciato da Tebe, essa non volle abbandonarlo e lo seguì nel lungo pellegrinaggio attraverso
l’Attica ed entrò con lui nel bosco sacro alle Eumenidi nel quale era vietato l’ingresso ai
profani, perciò le Eumenidi fecero strazio del corpo di Edipo.

Daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta, sister of Ismene, Eteocles and Polynices. When Oedipus, who
blinded himself as punishment for having killed his father and married his mother, was exiled from
Thebes, she did not abandon him and followed him in a long pilgrimage across Attica. She went
with him into the sacred forest of the Eumenides, where entrance was forbidden for the profane.
Therefore, the Eumenides butchered Oedipus’ body.

Nausicaa è figlia di Alcinoo re dei Feaci e di Arete. Nel libro VI dell’Odissea si narra di una
Nausicaa che, consigliata da Atena, gioca a palla presso una riva con le proprie ancelle.
D’un tratto un naufrago nudo esce da un cespuglio: Ulisse. Mentre le ancelle fuggono
impaurite, Nausicaa accoglie con eleganza e cortesia lo sconosciuto che invoca la sua
misericordia.
Gli regala delle vesti e gli suggerisce la via per la dimora del padre Alcinoo.
Egli lo accoglie calorosamente e gli fornisce una nave per il ritorno in patria.

Nausicaa is the daughter of king Alcinous and queen Arete of the Phaeacians. In Homer’s Odyssey,
Book Six, Nausicaa, advised by Athena, is playing with a ball on the shore of a river with her maids.
Suddenly, a shipwreck victim emerges naked from a bush: Ulysses. While the maids flee for fear,
Nausicaa entertains, with elegant and polite manners, the stranger who is begging for her help.
She gives him clothes and suggests that he becomes her father Alcinous’ guest.
The latter gives him a warm welcome and provides him with a ship to go back to his homeland.

Penelope is the daughter of Icarius and Polycaste (or of Periboea), wife to Ulysses, mother to
Telemachus, and cousin of Helen. She waits twenty years for the final return of her husband,
who left for the Trojan war, meanwhile she has hard times in refusing marriage proposals from
several princes. She devises tricks to delay her suitors, the most famous of which is pretending to
weave a burial shroud for Ulysses’ elderly father Laertes. Every night she undoes part of the shroud.

bella di tutte le nereidi, divinità marine figlie di Nereo, scatenò le ire del dio del mare
Poseidone che mandò un serpente mostruoso a devastare l’Etiopia e a divorarne
gli abitanti. Un oracolo rivelò che l’unico mezzo per calmare le ire del mostro era
sacrificare a lui la figlia Andromeda. Il padre Cefeo fu così costretto al sacrificio ma
Perseo la salvò.

Cassiopeia married King Cepheus of Ethiopia and gave birth to Andromeda. She boasted of being
more beautiful than all of the Nereids, sea nymphs, daughters of the sea god Nereus.
This brought the wrath of Poseidon, who directed a serpent monster to destroy Ethiopia and
devour its inhabitants. An oracle revealed that the only way to appease the monster was to
sacrifice Andromeda. Cepheus was forced to perform the sacrifice but Perseus arrived in time
and saved Andromeda.

Agamennone dovette immolare sua figlia alla dea Artemide su consiglio dell’indovino
Calcante, per placare le forti tempeste che la dea aveva provocato nel mare che bagnava la
città di Aulide, sulle coste della Beozia, per impedire ad Agamennone e a tutti i Danai la
partenza per Troia, dato che tempo prima l’Atride Agamennone aveva osato uccidere una
cerva con un dardo per poi e rivolgersi a Diana con arroganza.

Agamemnon was forced to sacrifice his daughter to the goddess Artemis on the advice of the seer
Calchas, in order to calm the strong storms that the goddess had caused and raged against the city
of Aulis, on the coast of Beotia, in order to stop Agamemnon and all the Danaans leaving for Troy.
Artemis punished the Atreid Agamemnon after he killed a sacred deer and then boasted he was the
better hunter.

Andromache is the daughter of the King of Thebes and wife of Hector, who was killed in the
Trojan war. Andromache is one of the most moving characters in Greek mythology, representing
the most tragic sides of a woman: ideal wife, loyal widow, anguishing mother, she embodies the
helplessness and sufferance of any widow who is forced to face life without her beloved husband,
killed by an insatiable thirst for glory.

ad Oreste. Menelao invece la diede in sposa al figlio di Achille, Neottolemo.
Tuttavia quando la guerra di Troia finì, a Neottolemo venne assegnato, insieme al
bottino di guerra, anche la moglie di Ettore, Andromaca. Ermione, tuttavia, non
sopportando la presenza di Andromaca, uccise Neottolemo con la complicità di Oreste.
Ermione si unì a Oreste e dal loro matrimonio nacque Tisameno.

Hermione is the daughteR of Menelaus and Helen. Her maternal grandfather Tyndareus
betrothed her to Orestes. Menelaus, instead, promised her to the son of Achilles, Neoptolemus.
Anyway, at the end of the Trojan war, Neoptolemus obtained as a prize, together with the spoils
of war, the wife of Hector, Andromache. Conflict soon arose between the latter and Hermione,
who eventually killed Neoptolemus with the aid of Orestes. Hermione became Orestes’ wife and
gave birth to Tisamenus.

nourishing him with honey.
With Amaltheia and Ide she forms the sacred triad linked to the infant Zeus.
They respectively represent: the goat, the bee and the bear, the foster-mothers of the supreme
god Zeus at Crete. He later turned them into constellations.

Calipso rilasciò l’eroe dietro comando di Zeus. Ulisse e Calipso, ebbero il figlio Latino.

Calypso is the daughter of Oceanus and Tethys. She lived in a cave on the island of Ogygia.
She detained the hero Ulysses with her for seven years and promised him immortality if he
stayed. However, the longing for his beloved Ithaca and his sweet wife Penelope dissuaded him
from the tempting offer of immortality.
Calypso was finally ordered by Zeus to allow Ulysses to leave the island. Calypso bore Ulysses a
son, Latinus.

Artemide è figlia di Zeus e Latona, sorella gemella di Apollo. Fu una tra le più venerate
dee dell’Olimpo oltre ad essere una delle divinità la cui origine può essere fatta risalire
ai tempi più antichi. Di probabile origine cretese, l’immaginario classico comune ce
la mostra come l’incarnazione della natura. Natura che va intesa così come la vedeva
l’uomo antico: valli solitarie, alture remote, migliaia di vite che germogliano, crescono,
stormiscono, cantano, si agitano, si cercano, si generano, si distruggono.
In epoche successive la sua figura fu associata alla dea Diana della mitologia romana,

Artemide è caratterizzata da fiori in cristallo e pendenti in Murano con lavorazione
interna pulegoso.
La struttura, interamente lavorata a mano, può essere in foglia argento o foglia oro.
Artemis is the daughter of Zeus and Leto, twin sister of Apollon. She was one of the most widely
venerated of the gods and manifestly one of the oldest deities. The Cretan legend depicts her as
the goddess of nature and wild things. Nature how ancient man saw it: solitary valleys, remote
hills, thousands of lives the germinate, grow, rustle, recite, they become agitated, searchers,
generators and eventually destroyers.
In later times she was associated with the goddess Diana in Roman mythology, while in Etruscan
mythology, she took the form of Artume. The deer and cypress are sacred to her.
FEATURES

Due sono i personaggi che in italiano hanno il nome di Teti. Una era Tethys, Titanessa,
sposa di Oceano, madre dei fiumi e delle Oceanine. L’altra era Thetis, figlia di Nereo
e di Doride, quindi nipote di Tethys. Thetis accolse il piccolo Efesto quando fu gettato
dalla madre dall’Olimpo, e fu essa che sposò Peleo e dalla loro unione nacque Achille.
Efesto per sdebitarsi forgiò l’armatura del pelide.
CARATTERISTICHE
Teti si differenzia per la caratteristica lavorazione in spugna graniglia applicata sul vetro
di Murano e arricchita dal colore ambra.
There are two female characters that have the name ‘Teti’ in Italian. One was Tethys, Titaness,
wife of Oceanus, mother of rivers and of the Oceanids. The other was Thetis, daughter of Nereus
and Doris, therefore niece of Tethys. Thetis retrieved the infant Hephaestus when his mother
threw him out of the Olympus. She married Peleus and from their union Achilles was born.
Hephaestus, in order to pay back the debt, forged Achilles’ armour.
