WORLD OUTBOARD RIVER MARATHON CHAMPIONSHIPS
2014
The Colombian Powerboat Federation and the Union Internationale Motonautique
are happy to announce the organization of the 2014 World Outboard River
Marathon Championships in the Magdalena River, Colombia.
The event will be run under UIM rules for river marathon racing and by UIM Circuit
rules groups 100, 200, 300 and 400 with the support of the Colombian National
Sports Authority (Coldeportes) and The Colombian Olympic Committee.
1. PLACE AND DATE
Magdalena River, Colombia, South America.
From Nov 1st to Nov 8 with seven legs through 1025 kilometers starting in Puerto
Boyaca in the center of Colombia and finishing in Cartagena de Indias a beautiful
colonial city on the Caribbean Coast.

Low emission engines complying with EPA regulations will be allowed a
30% greater cylinder capacity of their class
Fuel is free for all racing teams
Aviation fuel is recommended due to the low octane of Colombian fuel
A special trophy named “Gonzalo Mejía” will be awarded to the fastest boat
at the end of the river marathon.
3. PARTICIPANTS



Each boat can compete within only one class
The crew must wear the safety mandatory equipment in accordance with
UIM rules
The crew must show an official racing license issued by its national authority
recognized by the UIM
4. REGISTRATION
The application form must be forwarded directly to the organizing committee. The
cost of the registration is U$ 150. International teams will not be charged an entry
free.
5. JURY
An international jury, according to UIM rule 2001.01 will be integrated at least by 5
members, including drivers of each participating country and they will be
designated by the race committee. The jury will hear and solve any protests and
race issues not covered by UIM or local rules.
6. TROPHIES
6.1. Plaques for both pilot and copilot will be provided for the first three places for
both classes at the end of each leg.
6.2. UIM medals will be awarded to the first three places of each UIM official class
at the end of the river marathon.
6.3. Diplomas will be handed-out to all competitors and officials.

A safety inspection will be held on Sunday Nov 2nd 2014.
All boats must be at the designated area between 11:00 and 17:00 hours

ALL DAY: Arrival of all boats and crews to the starting point Puerto Boyaca. A
2:30hr drive from Medellin, 6 hours from Bogota and 7 hours from Cartagena.

Note: A driver’s meeting will take place one hour before the start of each leg
according to UIM rules.
10. EQUIPMENT
10.1. Mandatory equipment. The equipment must comply with UIM rules 900.5 and
900.6.
10.2. Engine blocks cannot be changed during the race.
11. PROTESTS
Protest must be made by written documents and signed by the boat’s captain and
presented at the judges by each captain with a U$ 250 deposit. No more than 30
minutes after the results have been published. If the protest doesn’t proceed, the
deposit will be integrated to the Federacion Colombiana de Motonautica.
12. ENVIROMENT PROTECTION
All drivers must respect and protect the environment inside and outside the river.
Each driver is responsible for the waste generated by his team during the event.
Proper containers will be provided to all drivers and team. The organizers will
provide the necessary containers at the start and finish of each leg.
Any infringement by the participant or driver/pilot (who is responsible for the team)
of the UIM regulation can result in a fine, disqualification from the event or
suspension, and may also result in the participant or driver/pilot being liable for any
costs of rectification.
13. ANTI-DOPING CONTROL
All drivers taking part in the World Outboard River Marathon Championships 2014
shall be subject to in – competition testing by the UIM and by COLDEPORTES
(The Colombian Anti-Doping Organization approved by WADA).
All tests will be analyzed at the WADA – recognized laboratory in Bogota.
14. ROLL BAR / HIGH RACING SEATS / SAFETY BELTS



For existing fiberglass boats it is mandatory since 2008 that a roll cage be
installed for the protection of driver/pilot.
There should be a high back seat for each member of the racing crew
securely attached to the hull. The back of the seat should support the back
of the helmet.
The crew of any racing boat with a roll bar must be strapped to the seat with
a four point seat belt system, at all time during the race. UIM rule 900.15-3.

There are no noise restrictions for any class.
