Let us assume that a room conditioning and heating system is required to satisfy the following design conditions: – required cooling capacity 21 kW with an external air temperature of 40 °C, room air temperature of 25 °C and relative humidity of 50%; – required heating capacity 35 kW with an external air temperature of 40 °C D.B.and a room air temperature of 22 °C; – indoor unit capacity of 4900 m3/h with 15 mm H2O available static pressure; – static pressure required for outdoor unit: 40 Pa – length of rerigerant lines: 15 m; – difference in height between the two units: 7 m FUNZIONAMENTO IN RAFFREDDAMENTO La temperatura ambiente a bulbo umido risula di 17,8 °C. Il punto di uscita reale si trova su tale retta ad un valore di entalpia: COOLING OPERATION The wet bulb room temperature is 17.8 °C In chart 1 the following values are given for the ASH 7 model: cooling capacity = 0.912 x 24.65 = 22.48 kW total input power = 1.037 x 9.56 = 9,914 kW. The air flow of 4900 m3/h corresponds to 96% of the nominal air flow, therefore, from table A, by linear interpolation, a correction factor of cooling capacity is obtained: (1 – 0.9) / (1 – 0.985) = (0.96 – 0.9) / (FC – 0.985) Which gives: FC = 0.994 and the cooling capacity becomes 22.48 x 0.994 = 22.35 kW. As refrigerant lines 15 m long are specified, from table H it can be seen that there are two possibilities. Since the cooling capacity is in excess of that required, smaller diameter pipes can be used for the refrigerant lines (28 for gas and 16 for the liquid), and thus we can obtain from chart 2 a cooling capacity correction factor of 0.99 to give: cooling capacity = 22.35 x 0.99 = 22.13 kW. Input power is not significantly affected, neither by the airflow rate of the indoor unit, nor by the length of the refrigerant lines. From chart 3 we obtain the by-pass factor, BPF: W/Wn = 0.96 and thus BPF = 0.163. The theoretical air flow Pt (with BPF = 0) is related to the actual air flow Pr by the equation: Pt = Pr x (1 – BPF) and thus Pt = 4900 x (1 – 0.163) = 4101 m3/h. The theoretical enthalpy rise is: ³ht = 22.13 / 1.37 = 16.15 kJ/kg. The enthalpy value corresponding to the room conditions (25 °C, 50% r.h.) is 49.8 kJ/kg, and so the theoretical discharge point for treated air is found on the saturation curve in correspondence with the specific enthalpy value 49.8 – 16.15 = 33.65 kJ/kg. The line through the points 25 °C / 50% and the theoretical discharge point 33.65 kJ/kg /100% represents the conditioner operation line. The actual discharge point is found on this line at the enthalpy value: 14 49.8 – 22.13 / (1.36 x 1.2 ) = 36.24 kJ/kg. The humidity removed is: 1 x 1.36 x 1.2 = 1.632 g/s. FUNZIONAMENTO IN RISCALDAMENTO Da tav. OPERATION IN HEATING MODE For the above design conditons, chart. 4 shows an output of: 0.88 x 25.5 = 22.44 kW which is not sufficient to requirements. A hot water coil should therefore be installed, which is to be activated (simultaneously with or in alternation with the heat pump) by a signal relayed from an external thermostat (TE). For a 2-row coil with a water flow rate of 2560 l/h at 80 °C, tables C and D and chart 5 show: water speed = 1 m/s; As the air flow rate is 96% of the nominal value, by interpolation we get: (1 – 0.8) / (43.34 – 39.12) = (1 – 0.96) / (43.34 – PT) PT = 42.5 kW = 36550 kcal/h (valid for 3-row heating coils with incoming water temperature of 70 °C). The effective capacity is thus given by 42.5 x 0.89 = 37.83 kW (chart 5). From chart. 6 it can be seen that the motor pulley of the indoor unit must be regulated so that the fan rotates at 1500 rpm. From chart 9 it can be seen that the fan of the outdoor unit must be regulated at 810 rpm. 15 C CA AR RA ATTTTEER RIIS STTIIC CH HEE • • FFEEA ATTU UR REES S 49,8 – 22,13 / (1,36 x 1,2 ) = 36,24 kJ/kg. 1, tratto A - B). Refrigerant connections for models 3 and 5 are to be made using the precharged refrigerant lines « LF » (available as accesories). For all other models, welded connections are to be used. For the gas lines, we recommend a fall of at least 1.1% towards to the compressor (fig. 1, line A-B). 3). MODELS 3 AND 5: – lay the lines so that the joints are in correspondence with their respective fittings on the indoor and outdoor units; – remove the protective end caps and clean the surfaces of the joints; – lubricate the joints with nonfreezing oil; – hand-tighten the fittings initially to ensure tnat the threads mate correctly; – using two spanners, fully tighten the fittings (fig. MODELS 7, 10 AND 15: – refrigerant lines can be connected to either side of the outdoor and indoor units as required by removing the relative knockouts on the enclosure; – lay the lines between the two units, taking care not to kink them and making sure that no dirt enters them. The diameters of the lines are given in table H; – the creation of the internal vacuum and subsequent charging operation must be carried out by a qualified technician in accordance with the indications given in table H. Note that any malfunctions or damage to the system due to incorrect execution of the lines, the vacuum and charging are not covered by the warranty. The indoor unit must absolutely be installed with ducting or a plenum on the air discharge. On both the indoor and outdoor units connections must be made using flexible couplings to prevent transmission of vibration and to facilitate maintenance. For the indoor unit in particular, the distance from the ceiling and the length of the flexible coupling must be such as to allow removal of the top panel of the unit. FISSAGGIO A PARETE DEL PANNELLO COMANDI WALL INSTALLATION OF THE CONTROL PANEL La sonda aria è posta all'interno del pannello comandi. Per l'installazione riferirsi all'istruzione allegata all'accessorio. The air sensor is located inside the control panel. The maximum permissible distance between the remote control panel and the unit is 50 m. The unit can be switched on and off from distances exceeding 50 m (up to a maximum of 100m) from a contact (IAD) wired in series to the power supply line (use wire with cross-section of 1 mm2). Refer to the wiring diagrams supplied with the appliances and those contained in this booklet For all electrical specifications see tables. TARATURA DEI DISPOSITIVI DI REGOLAZIONE SETTING OF REGULATION DEVICES La scheda di controllo è posizionata all'interno del quadro elettrico. The control card is located inside the electrical box. To set the devices with unit activated, the door lock switch must be by-passed. The unit can be started from the remote control panel. To prevent potential hazards from the unit from being started inadvertently, it is good practice to disconnect the control panel at the terminal board (M1 in fig. 7). The operating parameter settings can be modified by turning the corresponding trimmers with a screwdriver (fig. 7): TR1 = trimmer - set point for defrosting cycle start ** TR2 = trimmer - set point for defrosting cycle end ** TR3 = trimmer - set point for minimum room temperature (in cooling mode) TR4 = trimmer - set point for dead zone JP1 = jumper - not utilised JP2 = to select cooling only (SF) or heat pump (PC) mode ** JP3 = low pressure switch cutout time ** JP4 = minimum time lapse between two defrosting cycles ** JP5 = not utilised DIP1 = for setting ventilation and heating with auxiliary devices Contacts TP1, TP2, TP3, TP4 are used to check the settings: TP1 = common TP2 = TR1 set point TP3 = TR2 set point TP4 = TR3 set point To check a setting value, connect a tester between TP and the contact corresponding to the required setting: 0.1V = 1 °C. ** Authorized personnel only. 6) su OFF. VENTILATION In cooling mode the indoor fan is in continuous operation. In heating mode, you can choose between continuous or thermostat controlled fan operation. The control card is supplied as standard preset for thermostat controlled fan operation. If an auxiliary heating element is installed, connect the remote control power supply switch to terminals 5 and 6 (BR/RE-N) on terminal board M8 (fig. 7). If a water heating coil is installed, it must be fitted with a 3way diverting valve only if the unit is to be operated in automatic mode (see further on in this booklet). The valve must normally be in by-pass position and the coil is to be connected to terminals 5 and 6 (BR/RE-N) of terminal board M8 (fig. 7). For continuous fan operation, set microswitch 2 (fig. 6) to OFF. For the heating element follow the wiring instructions given above. For the water heating coil, the following configurations are possible: – ON-OFF regulation with the 3-way diverting valve connected as described above: in this case it is also possible to use the automatic operation mode; – regulation by an independent system; this requires operating the unit in ventilation mode only by selecting cooling mode on the control panel and moving the thermostat cursor to position 7. Automatic operation mode cannot be used. 6) su OFF. 7 è posizionato su ON, in sostituzione se è posizionato su OFF. AUXILIARY HEATING DEVICES When auxiliary heating devices are installed, for heat pump units you can choose between: – integrated heating (simultaneous operation of heat pump and auxiliary device); – alternate heating (operation of heat pump or auxiliary device) All units are supplied preset for integrated heating as standard. To select alternate heating operation, set microswitch 1 (fig. 6) to OFF. If a jumper is placed across terminals TE (1 and 2 on terminal board M5 in fig.7) only the auxiliary device will operate. If these terminals are left open, only the heat pump will operate. An electromechanical thermostat can be connected between the two terminals to control operation of the heat pump and auxiliary device in accordance with the external air temperature: – when the external air temperature is lower than the value set on the thermostat TE, the auxiliary device will be activated; in integrated operation if microswitch (1) in fig. 7 is set to ON or in alternate operation if set to OFF; – when the external air temperature is greater than the TE set value, only the heat pump will operate. For coolingonly versionsconnection to the TE terminals can be used to control the minimum temperature of the water supply to the heating coil ( to enable operation of the indoor fan). TE must be an immersion or contact thermostat and is to be installed so that it is always in contact with the water supply. The position of microswitch (1) is of no consequence. N.B. Failure to observe the above instructions will result in unit malfunction and loss of room temperature control. REGOLAZIONE DELLA ZONA MORTA Nel funzionamento automatico la scheda elettronica commuta in modo indipendente il funzionamento da riscalda- DEAD ZONE REGULATION During automatic operation the control card switches independently between heating and cooling operation according 32 to the ambient conditions. The temperature range within which automatic switchover takes place (dead zone) is set on trimmer TR4 (fig. 7); Thermostat differential is ± 0.5 °C. For example: with the thermostat set to 22 °C (cursor on control panel) and TR4 set to 4 °C: 22 – (4/2) – 0.5 = 19.5 °C: heating begins 22 – (4/2) + 0.5 = 20.5 °C: heating ends 22 + (4/2) + 0.5 = 24.5 °C: cooling begins 22 + (4/2) – 0.5 = 23.4 °C: cooling ends. Do not set too low values for the dead zone unless necessary. SONDA ARIA LOCALE-REMOTA La sonda aria è posizionata all'interno del pannello comandi. LOCAL-REMOTE AIR SENSOR The air sensor is positioned inside the control panel. The «SDS» accessory enables you to install the sensor on the air return on the indoor unit. The jumper JP5 serves to select between operation of the air sensor in the control panel or that on the air return. Under no circumstances alter the position of JP5 if the « SDS » accessory is not installed, otherwise the unit will completely lose control of the temperature. AUXILIARY DEFROSTING PRESSURE SWITCH It is possible, although normally unnescessary, to install an auxiliary pressure switch in order to speed up the defrosting cycle. This pressure switch (electromechanical) is to be connected to the PE terminals (see wiring diagrams) and must have normally open contacts. When the pressure (high) rises above the PE set value during the defrosting cycle, the outdoor fan will be activated. When the pressure switch reopens, the fan will stop. Procedere come segue (fig. VARIATION OF THE VENTILATION SPEED To set the ventilation static pressure to the installation needs, the the speeds of the indoor and outdoor fans can be regulated. Proceed as follows (fig. 8): – remove the inspection panel; – loosen the nuts (1) securing the motor to its mounting; – remove the drive belt (2); – loosen the lock (4) by means of a wrench (3) and turn the mobile part of the pulley (5) to obtain the required diameter; – tighten the lock (4); – replace the belt, adjust its tension and fasten the motor nuts; – replace the inspection panel. The units are normally supplied with pulley set to obtain the following speeds: Model Indoor unit Outdoor unit 3 820 920 5 890 810 7 760 745 10 540 610 15 550 530 Each turn of the mobile part pulley corresponds to a variation of 30 rpm in the fan speed. During operation, once the compressor has stopped, at least 6 mins. must elapse before a new start-up. AUTOMATIC START-UP AFTER A POWER FAILURE If a protective device is tripped, the electronic card will prevent automatic start-up, even after the device has been reset. This is to avoid too frequent compressor start-ups in particular conditions. The machine will only restart automatically if the power supply is first disconnected and then reconnected In the case of mains power failure, the unit will restart automatically when the power supply is restored. The supply voltage control (MT) will stop the unit in cases of unbalanced voltage on the three phases or incorrect voltages. In such cases the MT LEDs (on the mother board and on the remote control panel) will remain illuminated until normal working conditions are restored. 38 DEFROSTING The defrosting cycle will start only after the control card time setting (factory-set) has elapsed from the moment of start-up (or from the last defrosting cycle), provided that the defrosting sensor gives the go-ahead signal. The defrosting cycle ends when the sensor registers a temperature higher than the (factory) preset value or, in any event, 5 mins. after the beginning of the cycle. For further details see the flow chart (fig. 13). TRIPPING OF SAFETY DEVICES Each time one of the safety deivces is tripped the corresponding LEDs on the remote control panel and the mother board will illuminate. Tripping of the voltage control causes resetting of the unit, provided the other safety devices are reset. Fan magnetothermal cutouts are reset manually (the START pushbutton must also be pressed). Safety devices AP and BP can be activated even if the mother board is short circuited. The other safety devices (MT, TC, TV and TA) depend on the integrity of the mother board. If the 0.5 A fuse blows, none of the loads (compressor, fans, etc.) can be operated. If one of the two 1 A fuses blows, the board's performance is compromised (loss of set points, etc.), but main safety devices will guarantee the integrity of the unit. If both 1 A fuses blow the unit will stop. NOTE: When one of the safety devices has tripped, it is important to check that no potentially dangerous operating conditions exist before restarting the unit by pressing the START button. The periodical routine maintenance can even be carried out by unqualified personnel, and is limited to cleaning the inlet filter of the air handling unit. The filter is easily removed by sliding it out of its guides. After having removed the filter, it can be cleaned with a compressed air jet or with running water and normal detergents. It must be completely dry before it is returned in place.
