H ow to reach Capri, from Naples Università di Salerno Università di Napoli WORKSHOP Innovative Methods for Solving Evolutionary Problems with Memory Port If you arrive by car, ... If you arrive by plane, ... Wo r k S h o p The airport of Capodichino in Naples is a few miles from the city centre. Regular buses (ALIBUS) both from the airport and from Piazza Municipio (near the port). The taxis are outside the terminal. The charge is automatically calculated by the taximeter. From Beverello Harbour you can catch one of the regular ferries or jetfoils for Capri. The companies are the following: Caremar (ferries and jetfoils), SNAV (jetfoils and catamarans) and Navigazione Libera del Golfo (jetfoils only). From Mergellina harbour, regular SNAV jetfoils and catamarans leave for Capri. After about 20 minutes -driving along Via Marina- you will reach Beverello Harbour, near Piazza Municipio. If you want to bring your car to Capri from March to October, or from 20th December to 7th January, please, read the regulation in force about the Prohibition. However, we suggest that you do not bring your car onto the island, since the roads suitable for vehicles are few and narrow. If you want to park your car in Naples, you can find some indications on the Workshop’s Web pages ecretary ! If you arrive by train, ... After you have arrived by train at Napoli-Centrale (or Piazza Garibaldi) Railway Station, take tram no 1. or a bus to Piazza Municipio. Either taking Via Marina or Corso Umberto I, you will arrive at Piazza Municipio on the waterfront. Beverello Harbour -the main harbour for the sea-connections in the Gulf of Naples- is within walking distance of the square. The taxis are outside the terminal. Fares are calculated by use of a meter which must be activated. If your train arrives at Mergellina Railway Station, we suggest that you reach Mergellina Harbour, which is located near Piazza Sannazaro. From Mergellina Railway Station you may reach the harbour in about 10 minutes' walk. For this reason, we suggest that you take a taxi only if you have several pieces of luggage with you. CAPRI June 19-21, 2006 Vi l l a O r l a n d i Via Finestrale, 2 - Anacapri A im and Scope The study of phenomena of the real world, in recent years, is carried on through a mathematical simulation which captures their behaviour, characteristics and properties. If, during its evolution, the phenomena show a dependency on the previous history, then the mathematical models which best simulate the phenomena are Integral Equations, whose hereditary character makes difficult both the theoretical study and the resolution process. In particular, Volterra Integral Equations appear in the study of many phenomena which are important in applied sciences, such as population dynamics, diffusion of an epidemic, neural networks, and so on. For most of these models, it is important to develop both new efficient numerical methods, and mathematical software to obtain numerical solutions for the comprehension of the phenomena during its evolution in time, and to collect informations on the problem. Aim of this Workshop is to provide a forum both for expert researchers in this topic, and for researchers of closed areas, to present and discuss ideas, theories and applications.
