They have a great selection, are always ready to help you out with
your selection, and do some fantastic tastings... I spend a lot of
time just hanging out there and talking with Vanessa, her staff, and
the variety of customers that come in... people come back to
Unwined, I’ve learned, because it has that “thing” that stores used
to have but don’t seem to anymore... they care and they remember
you.

The di Lenardo family has cultivated vines at Ontagnano, just
outside of the capitol city of Udine, as proved by historical
documents dating back to the early 1800’s. But it was not until
Massimo a/k/a “Max” di Lenardo took over his family’s wine
production in 1985 that quality took a real leap forward. The
decision to use only grapes produced by the family’s own vineyards
was coupled with the new plantings of specially selected varieties,
increased density of vines (up to 6000 per hectare), severe pruning,
and other actions required in a vineyard to produce quality wines.
Max di Lenardo is consistently cited by Gambero Rosso as
producing the finest wines in his zone, Friuli Grave– and at the best
prices. In 1988, he assumed the actual winemaking responsabilities
himself. At this moment, di Lenardo Vineyards is the
acknowledged leader in Friuli Grave and the most technically
advanced.
