Swiss Climate Summer School 2015 – Excursion Two different excursions are offered in the afternoon of Wednesday 26 August 2015. Swiss Climate Summer School 2015 – Excursion Excursion 1 : Cardada -­‐ Cimetta -­‐ Cima della Trosa Difficulty: Easy (includes a approximately 2-­‐hour hike with no specific difficulty) This excursion offers a nice hiking tour and a spectacular panorama over Lake Maggiore. We will begin with a bus trip from Monte Verità to Orselina. From there we will take the cable car up to Cardada (1330 m). You will feel like in the middle of the Alps and will enjoy a very nice view over Lake Maggiore and the nearby valleys. We will stop at an impressive viewing platform on Cardada. We will then make our way to Cimetta (1700 m) either by hiking or with the chair lift. From there we will have a spectacular 360° panoramic view. From Cimetta we will hike to the summit cross of Cima della Trosa (1870 m), which takes about an hour. Those who make the climb will be rewarded with the best paranoramic view in the region. The walk back to Cimetta will take approximately 45 minutes. Participants are also welcome to stay and enjoy Cimetta and wait until the hikers return from the summit. We will then have the choice to either take the chairlift or walk 1 hour back to Cardada. Restaurants can be found in both Cimetta and Cardada. We will meet at 6:30 PM (at the latest) at the valley station of the cable car in Orselina. From there, a bus will take us to the Grotto Broggini in Losone for dinner at 7 PM. After dinner we will make the 20-­‐minute walk back to Monte Verità. Program • 12.00 PM Lunch packet provided at Monte Verità Centro • 1:00 PM Departure from Monte Verità by bus to Orselina • 1.30 PM Arrival at Orselina and departure by cable car to Cardada • 2.00 PM Chair lift or hike (about 1:30 mn) from Cardada to Cimetta . Possibility to hike further from Cimetta to Cima della Trosa (about 1 hour) • 6.00 PM Meeting at the cable car station Cardada • 6.15 PM Departure by cable car from Cardada back to Orselina • 6.30 PM Departure by bus from Orselina to Grotto Broggini in Losone • 7.00 PM Dinner at Grotto Broggini, Losone • Return to Monte Verità by foot. Tour guided by Monte Verità Swiss Climate Summer School 2015 – Excursion Excursion 2: Cardada -­‐ Monti di Lego -­‐ Brione Difficulty: Moderate (includes an approximately 4-­‐hour hike incl. 800 m steep downhill) Chapel at Monti di Lego This excursion is ideal for hiking lovers and offers a spectacular panorama over Lake Maggiore. The hike will lead through conifer and broadleaf forest to the beautiful Monti di Lego. We will begin with a bus trip from Monte Verità to Orselina. From there we will take the cable car up to Cardada, where we will enjoy a nice view of the nearby valleys. We will stop at an impressive viewing platform on Cardada (1330 m), which has the character of a mountain in the Alps. Before we start hiking, we will eat lunch in the picnic area on Cardada. Our hike will continue along a trail along the mountain ridge and through the forest. After 2 hours of hiking, we will reach Monti di Lego, enjoy the beautiful view, and take a short break at the little chapel there. Next, a historical trail will lead us sharply downhill (800 m). We will pass a Roman stone bridge and reach our destination village of Brione after another 2 hours of hiking. At 6:30 PM, a bus will take us from Brione to the Grotto Broggini in Losone, where we will all have dinner at 7 PM. After dinner we will make the 20-­‐minute walk back to Monte Verità. Program • 12.00 PM Departure from Monte Verità (lunch packet is provided) • 12.30 PM Arrival at Orselina and departure by cable car to Cardada • 12.45 PM Lunch at Cardada pic-­‐nic area • 1.30 PM Meeting at Cardada cable car station and departure for the hike to Monti di Lego and then Brione (4,5 hours including a 30 mn break) • 6.30 Departure from Brione-­‐Chiesa by bus to Grotto Broggini in Losone • 7.00 Dinner at Grotto Broggini, Losone • Return to Monte Verità by foot.
