N.B. Italian highways are patrolled for speed by radar detectors hidden alongside the
highways as well as underneath overpasses. To avoid traffic tickets, be aware of these.
On this road there are several machines with a black and white signal where t here is the
face of a man and below the sign there is the machine that checks the speed! Be aware
the limit on this street is 90km per hour!
Also, there is one toll on the way from the airport. There is someone at the tollbooth
most of the time. However, in the case of early or late departures, you may want to make
sure that you have some change before leaving. When paying tolls, make sure that you
get into the lanes with the workers or machines that accept coins or Euro. Do NOT go to
the Telepass lane.
1- Take: Autostrada Roma - Aeroporto di Fiumicino and continue along for 2.5 km
2- Take A91 for 11 km and head towards FIRENZE - Via Aurelia
3- Take A90 and continue along for 29 km
4- Head towards: FIRENZE (Exit 8, Exit 9, Exit 10, Salaria, Rieti, Roma, Salario, Via di
Settebagni, Roma nord)
5- Follow direction A1DIR/E35 towards FIRENZE
6- Continue along A1DIR/E35 for 169 km
7- Exit towards Valdichiana – Bettole – Sinalunga
8- You will enter a traffic circle after paying the toll. Follow signs for Siena.
9- You will enter one more traffic circle in the next couple of kilometres – ALWAYS FOLLOW
SIGNS FOR SIENA.
10- Take: SP327/SS327 for 1 km
11- Head towards: Siena – Raccordo Siena Bettolle / E78
12- You will travel on this four lane highway for approximately 50km
13- Head towards: FIRENZE – SIENA OVEST
14- As you approach the exits for Siena you will ALWAYS FOLLOW SIGNS FOR FIRENZE. Do
not take any of the Siena exits, just keep following signs for FIRENZE.
15- Continue on the Superstrada Firenze – Siena (FI-SI) for approximately 35km
16- You will pass exits for Siena Ovest, Siena Acqua Calda, Siena Nord and Monteriggioni.
17- Exit at COLLE VAL D’ELSA SUD. NOTE: DO NOT TAKE THE NORD EXIT.
18- At the stop sign at the highway exit, turn left.
19- After about 50 meters, you will approach your first of three roundabouts. Continue
straight in the direction of SP541 GROSSETO, which is indicated at the top of the roundabout
sign.

20- After the first roundabout, you will continue straight for 1.6 km and approach your second
roundabout. Again, continue straight in the direction of SP541 GROSSETO, which is indicated
at the top of the roundabout sign.

21- After the second roundabout, you will continue for 1.4 km and approach the third and last
roundabout. Again, continue in the direction of SP541 GROSSETO, which is indicated at the
top of the roundabout sign.

22- After the third roundabout, you will travel approximately 1.1 km continuing in the direction
of GROSSETO and will approach a little two-lane bridge. Veer right over the two-lane bridge
and continue straight along this road for roughly 7 km.
NOTE: IMMEDIATELY AFTER CROSSING THE BRIDGE, THERE IS A SIGN ON YOUR RIGHT FOR
CASOLE D’ELSA. DO NOT TURN. CONTINUE ALONG SP541.
23- After 7 km, there will be a TOTAL gas station on your left and a small bar/restaurant on
your right called LA SPERANZA. After LA SPERANZA please turn RIGHT towards Casole D’Elsa.
24– Drive straightly for about 1.5 km and take the gravel road you will see on your left hand
side following the signs for CASTELLO DI CASOLE - QUERCETO.
Drive on a uphill dirt road for about 1 km and follow the signs to the Hotel.
