The fibers have different mechanical characteristic:
- tensile strength, modulus or elongation, density…
Main features to describe the fibers:
- tensile strength: it is the maximum amount of load stress which a single fiber can
retain before failure
- modulus: it is the description of material tendency to be deformed elastically (nonpermanently) when a force is applied. It is a value directly related to stiffness
- density g/cm3: ratio between weight and volume

- combination of fabrics (layer) with different characteristics
- different disposition of the fabrics (orientation 0/+45°/-45°)
- number of layers in the different critical points of the frame

WMP – Wrinkleless Molding Process
- Wrinkles does affect the properties of the whole frame carbon layup. A quick way to
compensate their presence is increasing the laminate thickness, and so weight
- Bianchi’s way is different: we tune the phases and the parameters of the
manufacturing process in order to avoid the formation of the wrinkles, without
increasing the thickness of the laminate and so the weight of the frame

- Bigger wheels enhance obstacles overcoming thanks to a better angle of attack:
bigger wheels mean smaller stones!
- Bigger contact surface provides better braking and cornering traction!

- Less keen to accelerate while easily retaining momentum once up to speed = more
flowy pedalling, but more effort to accelerate
- Longer spokes do absorb more energy in impact but also flex more = they feel less
rigid at the same wheel specs
- At the same price, a 27,5’’ bike is lighter and quicker in accelaration = more racing
- Cockpit position limitations in relation to rider’s height

- Considering the performance penalty of low-spec’d 29’’ wheels, it is reasonable to
expect the 27,5’’ to be more succesfull in the mid to low-end range
- 29’’ and 27.5’’ will share the high-end segment = 29’’ for XCM and 27.5’’ for XCO
- Considering the small difference between 26’’ and 27.5’’ and that 3 wheels sizes is
too much to handle for the bike business chain, we can expect the 27.5 to substitute
the 26’’ completely in the new bikes market
- 26’’ will stay for used components and very good discounts that will be available
