Natura 2000
NATURA 2000 is the most important policy from European Union for the
conservation of european biodiversity. Actually, it is an ecological network
spread all over Europe and it has been created following the provisions of
DIRECTIVE 92/43/CEE "HABITAT", to ensure the long term conservation of
treathened or rare species of flora and fauna.
NATURA 2000 NETWORK includes Sites of Community Importance (SCIs,
soon to become Special Areas of Conservation (SACs), identified withing each
member State by means of HABITAT DIRECTIVE and includes also Special
Protection Areas (SPAs) identified by means of the “BIRDS DIRECTIVE”
79/409/CEE.
In Italy, SPAs AND SCIs are more than 19% of national area.

Objective
Project aims at increasing the number and the extension
of high natural value areas;
it aims also at improving the relationship between high
natural value areas and a modern rice farming.

- Improvement of ecological network through the
involvement of stakeholders
-Improvement in the management of hardwoods, for
better stewardship of heronries
