L’Isola di Procida fa da sfondo a tre Capolavori d’Arte:
”Graziella” – Romanzo di Alphonse de Lamartine (1859)
Storia di un amore appassionato tra lo Scrittore ed una ragazza procidana, Graziella, dalle lunghe
trecce nere.. Poi Alphonse parte promettendo a Graziella di tornare presto per sposarla; ma non
tornerà! Graziella per il dolore si ammala gravemente e, prima di morire, gli spedisce una delle sue
bellissime trecce nere che il Poeta porterà poi sempre con sé.
“L’Isola
di Arturo” – Romanzo di Elsa Morante (1957)
La storia di un ragazzino, Arturo, orfano di madre e con il padre marinaio sempre il viaggio…Padre
che llui ha mitizzato. Un “viaggio” all’interno dell’anima di un bambino molto solo che pian piano
diventa adolescente, alla scoperta di mille sensazioni, mille emozioni, che non riesce a decifrare.
“Il Postino”- Ultimo film di Massimo Troisi (1994)
Mario (Troisi), è un isolano analfabeta, senza arte né parte. Il poeta Pablo Neruda, esule dalla
patria,prende in affitto una casa dell’isola e Mario viene assunto come postino per portargli i
pacchi di lettere che gli arrivano da mezzo mondo. Frequentandolo giorno dietro giorno, al
giovane analfabeta iniziano ad apparire orizzonti fino ad alloraignorati. Tanto per comiciare egli
si compra un libro di poesie di Neruda e su di esso impara faticosamente a leggere… Poi
discorre, discorre con il Poeta., fa mille domande. Finchè la dittatura cilena cade e Neruda
torna in patria; Mario aspetta con ansiasue notizie, che mai arriveranno! Diversi anni dopo il
Poeta decide di tornare all’Isola con la moglie.. Entra in una osteria e sente una mamma
chiamare il figlio: Pablito! E ‘ il figlio di Mario! E Mario? Morto combattendo per i diritti civili…
Il film finisce con una lunga, solitaria passeggiata di Neruda in riva al mare, con il pensiero al
giovane Mario al quale, inconsapevolmente, ha aperto orizzonti sconfinati!

Procida is the frame of three masterworks:
- "Graziella", a novel by Alphonse de Lamartine (1859).
It's the story of the passion between the writer and a girl from Procida, Graziella, wearing long, black braids.
Alphonse leaves, promising her to come back soon and marry her; but he will never do it! For the sorrow,
Graziella falls seriously ill and, before dying, sends him one of her beautiful braids, that the Poet will always
carry along.
- "The island of Arthur", a novel by Elsa Morante (1957).
The story of a small boy, Arthur, a mother orphan, whose father is a sailor, always away ... A father that the boy
has made a myth of.
The novel is a travel inside the soul of a very lonely child, who little by little turns into an adolescent,
discovering lots of feelings, a thousand emotions, which he is unable to decipher .
- "The postman", the last film of Massimo Troisi (1994)
Mario (Troisi) is an illiterate islander, with no particular skill or job. Poet Pablo Neruda, banished from his home
country, rents a house on the island and engages Mario as a postman to bring the heaps of mail arriving to him
from all over the world. Seeing him day after day causes the young illiterate to become conscientious of
horizons up to then unknown. To start with, he buys a book of Neruda's poems, which, though painfully, help
him to learn reading. Moreover, he has long talks with the Poet, and ask him numerous questions ... But the
Chilean dictatorship falls and Neruda is able to go back home. Mario looks anxiously forward to hearing from
him, but he will never get any news. Many years afterwards the poet decides to go back to the island with his
wife. He gets into a public house and hears a mother calling her son: Pablito! It's Mario's child! And Mario?
Fallen on fighting for civil rights.
The film ends with Neruda's long, lonely walk along the seashore, thinking of young Mario to whom,
unknowingly, he had opened boundless horizons

L’Ile de Procida est un cadre pour trois chefs-d’oeuvre artistiques:
GRAZIELLA- Roman d’Alphonse de Lamartine (1859)
Histoire d’un amour ardent entre l’Écrivain et une jeune fille de Procida, Graziella, avec des longues nattes
noires. Ensuite Alphonse part en promettant de revenir bientôt pour l’épouser; mais
ne reviendras jamais! Graziella, à cause de la douleur, tombe gravement malade et, avant de mourir, lui envoie
une de ses merveilleuse nattes, que le Poète portera toujours avec lui.
L’ILE DE ARTURO- roman de Elsa Morante (1957)
Histoire d’un jeune garcon ,Arturo, orphelin par sa mère, et avec un père marin toujours en voyage…père dont
il a crèe un mythe.
Un “voyage” à l’interieur de l’ame d’un enfant très seul qui lentement devient adolescent, à la découverte de
mille sensations, mille émotions qu’il a du mal à déchiffrer.
IL POSTINO- dernier film de Massimo Troisi (1994)
Mario (Troisi) , est un insulaire analphabète , bon à rien. Le poéte Pablo Neruda, exilé de sa patrie, loue une
maison sur l’ile et Mario est embauché comme facteur pour lui apporter les paquets de lettres qu’il reçoit du
monde entier. En le fréquentant jour après jour, au jeune analphabète s’ouvrent des horizons jusque
là inconnus. Pour commencer il achète un livre de poésie de Neruda et dans ce livre il apprend avec difficulté
à lire…Ensuite il discute avec le poéte, pose mille questions.
Jusqu’au jour où la dictature du Chili tombe et Neruda retourne dans son pays. Mario attend avec anxiété de
ses nouvelles , qui n’arriveront jamais! Quelques années plus tard le Poète décide de revenir sur l’ile avec sa
femme.. Il entre dans un bistrot et entend une mère appeler son fils: Pablito! Es-ce le fils de Mario? Et
Mario? Mort en combat pour les droits civils… Le film termine avec une longue promenade solitaire de Neruda
au bord de la mer, songeant au jeune Mario auquel ,
inconsciemment, il a ouvert des horizons sans bornes!
