The humanization of the hospital from three points of view:
1.
whole area (two wide indoor foot pathways);
2.
building (in terms of orientation, mobility, interpersonal
relation and socialization);
3.
hospitalization area, in terms of comfort and privacy. The
bedrooms are double, only 10% single, but in all the patient can
choose to stay alone, or with onether patient, or with an
accompanying person.

In the planning phase it was necessary to consider the future
Different configurations of the structure, according to prevailing
Socio-political and health objectives.
Flexibility has revelead as being particularly important, since the
University hospital deed foreseeing the Integrated Health Care-giving
Department as a model for assistance activities, in order to reach the
best possible realization of the medical-chirurgical pathway.

In the Integrated Health care-giving Department the
following is guaranteed:
1.
integrated and multidisciplinary health care;
2.
coordination between the heads of the different
organizing structures;
3.
care-giving approach focused on the patient and on
his whole medical and chirugical diagnostical,
therapeutical pathway (not only on any of its single phases).

A such organizational approach needed a re-adjustment of the project
on the following bases:

patients' health care pathway ensured by any single department;

integration with university activities, that is a simultaneous training and
care-giving pathway with fully integrated spaces dedicated to both
kinds of activities;

focus on health care-giving activities: decreasing of hospitalized
patients and reorganization of the offer by reducing beds and increasing
space for outpatients;

a consequent selection of patients in critical conditions lets us foresee a
highly technological quality of beds, also thanks to the most recent
technological development.
