The current and future studies are conducted according to the following stategic decisions:

Acceptability of OHL
2.
Increase capacity of existing OHL
3.
Increase of reliability and Availability of OHL
And grouped in four key themes:
1.
Electrical performance (new conductors; Dynamic and enhanced line rating systems; Conversion of existing AC lines
to DC,…)
2.
Towers, foundations and insulators (Industry practices for tower design, testing technologies, environmental aspects
and innovative solutions,…
3.
Mechanical behaviour of conductors and fittings (fatigue; wind induced movements; assessment o fittings;
updating and new standards;………..)
4.
Asset management, reliability and availability: (GIS; lessons from big storm events; anti and de-icing systems;
Live Line Maintenance;……….)

Quesito 2: In quale dei TC projects il Comitato è integrato?
The 4 Major Strategic Directions are :
Direction 1: The electrical power system of the future
Direction 2: Focus on environment and sustainability
Direction 3: Making the best use of the existing power system
Direction 4: Interactive communication with the public and political decision makers
Selected items for SCB2 are the following:
Firstly, major concern of to the public is the impact of the system on the environment. EMF,
noise emission, aesthetic issues…
Secondly, issues where the environment influences the power systemare to be taken into
account. Increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather conditions can be observed,
more is to be expected.
On the transmission level, an urgent global need for increased transportation capacity is
thus obvious. HVDC and AC transmission at the highest voltage levels are/will have to be
implemented and also combination of AC and HVDC systems (Hybrids)
