The hammer
Il manico deve avere un leggero
ringrosso alla fine e non deve
essere eccessivamente lungo
come quello dei muratori .
The handle must be a little ticker
at the end and must not be as the
one used for mansonry.
La subbia
La subbia si usa per
sgrossare. La sua punta
piramidale
produce
sul
marmo una ferita.
Quando la punta si rompe ci
vuole il fabbro. Si può
battere
inclinata di poco
con colpi isolati.
Il ferro va tenuto ben
stretto, ma attenzione, se
si sbaglia il polliceè a
rischio.
The point
The point is used for
roughing out. It’s pyramid
point makes a white and
round mark.
If you braeak its tip, call
blacksmith.
One
can
hammer with the point
slightly tilted
and with
single blows.
The tool must be strongly
held, but watch out, if you
make a mistake, you cold
hurt your thumb.
Il gradino
Il gradino è un ferro che di
solito si usa con il mazzuolo che
ha la caratteristica di lasciare
un’impronta a righe. Il gradino è
lungo circa 30 cm, ha sezione
ottagonale e esagonale; per
finire, la misura preferita è di
25 cm. I più larghi e pari con
tanti denti sono tipici per
architettura.
The claw chisel
The claw is a tool usually
used with the soft iron
hammer and its characteristic
is to leave a striped mark.
The claw is about 30 cm, it
has an octagonal or hexegonal
section; the favourite lenght
is 25cm. In architecture,
claws are larger and thinner
with more teeth.
Lo scalpello
The flat chisel
Lo scalpello è un ferro piatto.
Lascia una traccia piana ed è
nelle misure più diverse, grosse e
piccole. Di solito gli scalpelli sono
più piccoli degli altri ferri. Se
allo scalpello si arrotondano i lati
si ottiene un ferrotondo,
molto utile per scultura e cornici
concave.
The chisel is a flat tool. It leaves
a flat mark and comes in
different sizes, from big to small.
Usually, chisels are smaller than
the other tools. When a chisel
has its sides made round, it is
used for sculpture and for
concave frames.
