Two other important and prestigious events will be added: the first on sunday 7th December, Gianandrea Noseda will conduct the Orchestra Teatro Regio Torino in a concert at Eataly in New York. This exceptional concert is becoming a very special night party for New Yorkers as a highlight event of winter. The program include famous Symphonies taken from four operas of Gioachino Rossini: La gazza ladra, La Cenerentola, Il barbiere di Siviglia and Guglielmo Tell. This concert will unite the culture of Italian food and the great music in a charity event. For the occasion will be collected funds for The Global Fund, an organization in the forefront of the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, which boasts Bono as one of the founding lead. The second event will be on monday 8th December, also in New York, in the UN Headquarters, to mark the end of the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. There, the Orchestra Teatro Regio Torino will perform Antiche arie e danze by Ottorino Respighi and Le Quattro Stagioni by Antonio Vivaldi, Sergey Galaktionov conductor and violin soloist. This concert give rise to an important moment in the history of our theatre in the name of Italy, under the sign of music, to spread a strong message of peace and brotherhood among peoples. In the four concerts of the Teatro Regio Torino Rossini Tour, the conductor Gianandrea Noseda will lead the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Regio, in the Rossini’s last touch of genius composed in 1828: Guglielmo Tell. The baritone Luca Salsi, a greatly appreciated interpreter of the Rossini repertoire, will give voice to the protagonist. The tenor John Osborn, who has just won an important “Bellini d'Oro” for his international career, will give life to the character of Arnoldo, the conspirator torn between love and his homeland. This same role will be played, only in Toronto, by the young tenor Enea Scala, who has worked with conductors such as Bartoletti, Rousset, Mariotti and renowned directors such as Michieletto, Vick and Vizioli. The soprano Angela Meade, winner of many international competitions as well as a popular interpreter of the Italian operatic repertoire, will play the Princess Matilde. Rounding out the cast Marco Spotti (Gualtiero Farst), Fabrizio Beggi (Melcthal’s father), Gabriele Sagona (Gessler), Marina Bucciarelli (Jemmy), Anna Anna Maria Chiuri (Edwige), Mikeldi Atxalandabaso (Ruodi), Saverio Fiore (Rodolfo) and Paolo Maria Orecchia (Leutoldo). The Chorus of the Teatro Regio, the protagonist of some of the most beautiful scores of this opera, will be led by Claudio Fenoglio. The opera, in concert performance, will be presented with the Italian translation of Calisto Bassi, restored in 1988 by Paolo Cattelan. The conductor Gianandrea Noseda considers the Guglielmo Tell one of the greatest masterpieces of all times. Maestro Noseda said: «The Guglielmo Tell is a title with which to sum up the experiences of the past, obtaining the best and projecting into the future». Rossini began writing his last and revolutionary opera in the spring of 1828. He, who had been residing in Paris for a while, had the audience anxiously waiting for a new opera created specifically for the Parisians. Guglielmo Tell was completed in five months (an unusually long time for the composer) and at its first performance, in August 1829, it was received rather coldly; only some critics and musicians, such as Berlioz and Donizetti, were able to appreciate the beauty of this exquisitely romantic music; Donizetti himself said: «The first and third acts were written by Rossini, the second was written by God».
