CiocoGaudium è una rassegna organizzata in collaborazione con Slow Food Veneto e
dedicata al pluricelebrato cibo degli dei, alle affascinanti spezie, agli aromi del pepe e
del tè per offrire un viaggio a tappe attraverso sapori intensi, abbinamenti innovativi, e
toccare i luoghi più suggestivi di Venezia e della sua terraferma.
Tra novembre e dicembre ville, giardini, palazzi e teatri si trasformeranno in
accoglienti e suggestivi laboratori del gusto, dove maestri, esperti cioccolatieri,
speziali, svelando i loro segreti, faranno conoscere e riconoscere le mille sfumature
del profumo e del gusto del cioccolato, delle spezie, del tè e del pepe / CiocoGaudium
is a show organised with the cooperation of Slow Food Veneto and dedicated to the
renowned foods of the gods, to the ravishing spices, to the aromas of pepper and teas
to offer a journey through intense ﬂavours, new combinations and to stop along at the
most picturesque places of Venice and its Terraﬁrma.
Between November and December, villas, gardens, palaces and theatres will be
transformed in warm and charming tastes laboratories, where master Chocolatiers and
spices connoisseurs will reveal their secrets and will let the visitors getting to know and
recognise the thousands hints of the scent and taste of chocolate, spices, teas and pepper.

Venezia e le sue terre / Venice and nearby Terraﬁrma
I Concerti per organo e per coro hanno l’intento di offrire ai visitatori che giungono nel
territorio veneziano durante la stagione invernale incontri musicali in località diverse
e fortemente caratterizzate. Ed ecco che alcune tra le più belle chiese della città di
Venezia e della sua terraferma faranno conoscere i loro tesori d’arte accogliendo gli
ospiti anche meno esperti, anche più giovani, in un’unica atmosfera natalizia.
I concerti sono il frutto della direzione artistica di un esperto maestro veneto,
Benedetto Fiori, che ha applicato un’originale formula di integrazione tra celebri
organisti di livello internazionale e prestigiose corali italiane / The purpose of
Concerts for organ and choir is to offer visitors arriving in the Venetian area during
the winter season, music meetings in various and very lively places with remarkable
features. Therefore, many of most beautiful churches of Venice and its Terraﬁrma will
present to visitors their art treasures by welcoming guests even less expert, including the
younger ones, in a unique Christmas atmosphere.
The concerts are the results of an artistic direction by an expert Venetian maestro,
Benedetto Fiori, who has applied an original formula of integration amongst the most
famous international organ players and prestigious Italian Choirs.

Lo spettacolo proposto dal Coro Gospel Joy Singers attraversa la musica afroamericana dallo spiritual, passando per il rythm’nd blues, ﬁno al contemporary
gospel. Suggestioni diverse, tutte rivisitate in forma originale dal maestro Andrea
D’Alpaos, autore di alcuni dei brani in repertorio e di tutti gli arrangiamenti, sia
vocali sia strumentali, per l’esecuzione della Soul Shakers Band (tastiera, organo
hammond, basso, batteria) che accompagna il Coro.
Dai classici della tradizione spiritual, al gospel di più recente rivisitazione con
omaggi al musical mescolati alla nostra tradizione europea, per concludere con un
viaggio attraverso i carols e i traditional natalizi più noti.
I Joy Singers cantano, divertono, emozionano, usando la musica come strumento
e mezzo privilegiato per comunicare ed esprimere il sound che parte dall’anima e
arriva diretto a coinvolgere il pubblico.
Ospiti della rassegna, da Londra: Colin Vassell, Shirley Grant e Dorothy Williams
The show staged by the Joy Singers Gospel Choir journeys through the Afro-American
music, from the spirituals to R&B up to contemporary gospel singing.
Different and various pieces, all played in their original form by the conductor Andrea
D’Alpaos, composer of some pieces in the repertoire and of all the arrangements, either
vocal or instrumental, played by the Soul Shakers Band (keyboard, hammond organ,
bass, drums) accompanying the Choir.
From the classic traditional spirituals to the most recent gospels with musical homage
to musicals mixed with our European tradition, to end with a journey through the most
famous carols and traditional Christmas music.
The Joy Singers sing, entertain and excite by using music as a privileged instrument
and mean to convey and express that special sound that departs from the soul and
reaches straight to involving the audience.

Un viaggio sonoro nella tradizione pastorale del meridione d’Italia attraverso un
percorso a ritroso nel tempo tra le zampogne della Natività cristiana e dei riti
religiosi ebraici e musulmani. Appartenente alla famiglia degli aerofoni a sacca, la
zampogna è uno degli strumenti musicali a ﬁato più antichi ed elaborati della storia
dell’uomo.
Il suo repertorio in Italia è strettamente legato alle feste di origine pagana e
cristiana ancora vive nelle vallate più isolate del mezzogiorno: dall’entroterra
messinese all’Aspromonte reggitano, dalle Serre di Catanzaro all’Arberìa cosentina
e al Pollino, dalla Val d’Agri al Cilento, dal basso Lazio alle Mainarde molisane e
all’Abruzzo... una storia fatta di lunghe transumanze e di grandi feste primaverili,
estive, autunnali e invernali.
La zampogna de’ pastori vuole essere un’occasione d’incontro e conoscenza con un
fantastico strumento musicale, la sua ricca storia sociale, i suoi simboli e gli uomini
che l’hanno conservato in questi secoli.
Christmas pastorals and carols in costumes throughout the Venetian Lagoon. A musical
journey under the sign of pastorals from the south of Italy through a path back in
the time amongst the bagpipes of the Christian Nativity and Hebrew and Muslim
religious rites. Part of the bag aerophone family, the bagpipe is one of the wind musical
instruments most ancient and manmade in the history of man.
Its repertoire is tied closely to feasts of Christian and pagan origins still alive in
the most isolated valleys of southern Italy: from the hinterlands of Messina to the
Aspromonte of Reggio Calabria, from the Sierras of Catanzaro to the Cosenza
Arberìa and to Pollino, from the Agri Valley to the Cilento, from the lower Latium
to the Mainarde in the Molise and Abruzzo… a history made of long and endless
transhumance and big springtime, summer, autumn and winter feasting.
The bagpipe of shepherds’ event means to be an occasion for meeting and getting to
know a fantastic musical instrument, its rich social history, its symbols and the men
who have preserved it in these centuries.

Concerto di Natale / Christmas concert

Venezia Mestre, Duomo di S. Lorenzo
L’Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, costituitasi nell’ottobre 1966, si è affermata
come una delle principali orchestre da camera italiane nelle più prestigiose sedi
concertistiche in Italia e all’estero. L’Orchestra è formata sulla base dell’organico del
sinfonismo “classico” ed il suo primo violino dalla fondazione è Piero Toso. La vita
artistica dell’Orchestra annovera collaborazioni con i nomi più insigni del concertismo
internazionale. Particolare signiﬁcato ha assunto negli ultimi anni la collaborazione
con Vladimir Ashkenazy con cui l’Orchestra ha effettuato numerose tournées (Italia,
Austria, Svizzera e Giappone), e con cui ha inciso per l’etichetta giapponese Octavia
(Tokyo, 2004). Attraverso la propria produzione concertistica, l’Orchestra ha dato un
grande impulso alla vita musicale del Veneto ed è stata riconosciuta dallo Stato come
l’unica istituzione concertistico - orchestrale operante nel Veneto.
The Orchestra of Padova and Veneto, formed in October 1966, has established itself
as one of the main Italian chamber orchestra playing in the most prestigious concert
locations in Italy and abroad. The Orchestra features a group based on the “classic”
symphonic music repertoire and its ﬁrst violin is Piero Toso. The artistic life of the
Orchestra numbers cooperation with the most prestigious names on the international
concert scene. A special meaning in the last few years for the Orchestra has been the
cooperation with Vladimir Ashkenazy with whom the Orchestra has played on many
international stages (Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Japan) and with whom it has
recorded music under the Japanese label Octavia (Tokyo, 2004). With its concert
production, the Orchestra has given a great thrust to the musical life in Veneto and it
has been recognised by the State as the only concert-orchestra operating and representing
Veneto.

La scrittura orchestrale per ﬁati si è ritagliata nel repertorio contemporaneo una
specie di zona franca; musica fatta soprattutto per piacere al pubblico, essa si è
via via sottratta da ambiti extratonali e sperimentali troppo spinti, rappresentando
un po’ un ideale territorio di disimpegno accademico per alcuni compositori
“specializzati” nel genere / Music composition for woodwind and brass orchestra has
carved a sort of an untouchable position for itself in the contemporary music repertoire;
music made especially to please audience, it has progressively shied away from
experimentation and extra tonal areas too excessive, and thus representing a bit of an
idealistic area of academic redemption for some composers “specialised” in the genre.

Natale di Vetro 2007 vi offre l’occasione di passeggiare in una Murano in festa tra
splendide sculture in vetro esposte all’aperto, oppure di ammirare la lavorazione
a lume o in fornace, o ancora di visitare mostre, gustare specialità gastronomiche
e assistere a eventi sportivi. Oltre ai mercatini già in programma, nel periodo
natalizio alcune delle più note aziende apriranno i loro magazzini per occasioni
d’acquisto irripetibili e, per i più piccoli, ci saranno laboratori della lavorazione del
vetro. Senza dimenticare le attrazioni uniche dell’isola: la basilica dei Santi Maria e
Donato, la chiesa di San Pietro e il prestigioso Museo del vetro.
Christmas in Glass 2007 offers you the chance to stroll through a festive Murano with
beautiful glass sculptures on display in the open air. You can admire glassmakers in
action as they conjure up fantastic objects from the furnace or with a blowtorch, or you
can visit exhibitions, try gastronomic specialities and watch sporting events. As well as
the traditional Christmas markets selling glass jewellery and ornaments, some of the
most famous glassmaking companies will open their warehouses to offer unrepeatable
bargains. For the kids, there will be workshops to learn about the craft of glassmaking.
All this and the unique attractions of the island: the Basilica dei Santi Maria e Donato,
the Church of San Pietro and the prestigious Museo del Vetro (Glass Museum).

from other great European and American museum institutions. The exhibit is integrated

Centoquarantadue opere lungo l’arco di cinque secoli. Tra esse un rarissimo globo
cinquecentesco del cartografo Livio Sanudo (1520-1576), preziosi esemplari del frate
veneziano Vincenzo Coronelli (1650-1718) uno dei più famosi costruttori di globi
del XVII secolo / One hundred and forty two works spanning ﬁve centuries. Amongst
them an extremely rare sixteenth century globe by the cartographer Livio Sanudo (15201576), precious original model by the Venetian Friar Vincenzo Coronelli (1650-1718)
one of the greatest makers of globes of the XVII century.

Organizzata dall’Ateneo Veneto in occasione del 150° anniversario della morte di
Daniele Manin, la mostra è allestita al piano terra della sede centrale della Cassa di
Risparmio di Venezia in Campo Manin. Attraverso dipinti, foto e cimeli provenienti
dalle collezioni del Museo Correr, testimonia il ruolo del patriota veneziano dal 1848
alla morte in esilio nel 1857 e la successiva “gloriﬁcazione” (1868) tra gli eroi del
nuovo stato italiano / Organised by the Ateneo Veneto for the 150th anniversary from the
death of Daniele Manin, the exhibit is set-up at the ground ﬂoor of the main head ofﬁce
of the Cassa di Risparmio di Venezia in Campo Manin. Through paintings, photographs
and relics coming from the collections of the Correr Museum, it testiﬁes the role played
by this Venetian patriot from 1848 to his death in exile in 1857 and subsequent
“gloriﬁcation” (1868) amongst the heroes of the new Italian State.

materiali scelti da Bottomley per vere e proprie sculture da collo, ciondoli e bracciali.
Ispirati ai disegni e alle visioni di Fortuny, sono un tributo alla creatività del maestro
e una testimonianza diretta della sua eclettica eredità intellettuale / Silver and acrylic,
steel or silver and enamel, still silver and cotton or titanium are the materials chosen by
Bottomley for true neck-wear sculptures, pendants and bracelets. Inspired to drawings
and visions of Fortuny, are the tribute paid to the creativity of the maestro and a direct
evidence of his versatile intellectual legacy.
