Tokyo 29th November to 8th December
Thanks to the unanimous consent obtained and the quality of the productions presented in 2010
during our first visit to Japan, we were again invited to Tokyo for a major new tour, where the Teatro
Regio of Turin, will be the ambassador of Italy and of music. Inserted in a season that stands out in the
panorama of Italian commitment to production and quality - there will be thirteen operas on the
program, two ballets, a premiere and two Gala dedicated to Verdi and Wagner. This tour surely adds an
important element to the long artistic life of the Regio.
Puccini's Tosca, Un ballo in maschera and Verdi's Requiem and a Rossini Gala: nine appointments
involving all the workers of the Teatro Regio and the most important artists of international opera.
Under the leadership of the Music Director Gianandrea Noseda, the tour in Tokyo begins on 29th
November, where we will offer the best of Italian musical culture, proud to have been asked to represent
it, so much that the appointments with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Regio of Turin will be
the ones to close the manifestations of "Italia in Giappone 2013".
It will be Tosca, by Giacomo Puccini the first to be performed in this tour at the Bunka Kaikan.
Tosca's setting is by the Monegasque Jean-Louis Grinda and it will be on stage for four performances
from 29th November to 8th December. Tosca's cast will feature: Norma Fantini / Patrizia Racette
(alternating in the main role), Marcelo Álvarez and Lado Ataneli. Un ballo in maschera by Giuseppe
Verdi, setting by Lorenzo Mariani will alternate with Tosca from 1st to 7th December at the Bunka
Kaikan. The cast is as follow: Ramón Vargas, Gabriele Viviani, Oksana Dyka e Marianne Cornetti.
On 6th December, a gala dedicated to the overture from Rossini including: La gazza ladra, Il barbiere di
Siviglia, William Tell and the Stabat Mater, with Barbara Frittoli, Daniela Barcellona, Piero Pretti and
Mirco Palazzi will be held at the Bunka Kaikan.
The Suntory Hall, the true temple of music, a jewel universally recognized and renowned for its
remarkable acoustics, as well as a key step for the most acclaimed orchestras in the world, will host on
30th November Messa da Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi, with which the Teatro Regio triumphed in the
last tour in Dresden and Vienna. On stage, again Barbara Frittoli, Daniela Barcellona, Piero Pretti and
Mirco Palazzi. The Maestro Claudio Fenoglio directs the Chorus of the Teatro Regio.
Guido Gobino, a partner of the Teatro Regio in this important tour, will offer its precious chocolates
to the Japanese public.

Passion” (Pillole di Passione) created by Paola Giunti. There will be short videos with interviews, the
