A mark equal to or above 18/30 is a pass. In case of maximum marks (30/30) the committee can assign 30/30 with honours (lode). <18 means that the exam is failed therefore it won’t be included in the Academic Transcript of Records. Credits are assigned only if the student passes an exam or other type of test. In cases foreseen by course regulations (laboratories, internships), the assessment may be expressed by a Pass Certificate (IDONEITA’ or SUP). In this cases, students cannot obtain a grade in /30. The definitive copy must be signed by the Academic Advisor and delivered to the Incoming Unit within March 23rd. Learning Agreement The learning agreement is a binding document and should only be changed if it suggested by the Academic Advisor, in the event of timetable clashes or unexpected course cancellations. In order to fill in the electronic Learning agreement, please follow these steps: 1. enter on your page of Portale della didattica 2. on the left side, enter on SID HOME 3. pick the option “CARICO DIDATTICO” 4. in order to load the course name, click on ALTRI and put the course name in CERCA DESCRIZIONE or the course code in CERCA CODICE 5. when the course name or code appear, click on AGGIUNGI and RITORNA VIDEATA INIZIALE 6. confirm the courses, clicking on OK at the end of the procedure Learning Agreement When filling in the Learning Agreement please remember that: Pay attention to the semester in which courses are taught It is not possible to do an extra work in order to obtain extra credits in a course. If you need a larger number of credits you should choose another course It is not possible to put two workshops with the same code Learning Agreement In the cases of laboratories, internships or even single courses that have as a final grade “passed or not passed” (IDONEITA’ or SUP), students cannot obtain a grade in /30. If such grade in /30 is needed to present to the student’s sending Institution, another course should be chosen instead of those who foresee “passed” or “not passed”. Exchange students are allowed to attend only the Italian language course. It will be automatically loaded in the learning agreement of every student with the level A1; if the student wishes to change for the level A2, please inform the Incoming office; it will be possible to pass the final exam at the end of the course or during the regular exam sessions. This final exam leads to the achievement of a qualification as passed or not passed (there won’t be a final mark). Certificates/Certificados At the end of the study period at Politecnico di Torino, the Mobility Unit-INCOMING will automatically send your final Transcript of records to your home Institution by mail. Please remember to visit the Mobility Unit-INCOMING two or three days before leaving to inform about your departure date and to be sure that there are no academic matters left unsettled. N.B: pay attention because if you forget to bring the statino for the registration, the professor can cancel the exam. Some students are exempted from the payment, like Erasmus, Erasmus MUNDUS and students coming from these Universities: • Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso • Universidad de Las Americas-PUEBLA • Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey-ITESM • KHAI University Extra Polito Fees This fee is not required by Politecnico, but this is an extra-Politecnico fee and include: • EDISU services such as students canteens, computer and study rooms…; • Insurance in the Politecnico di Torino facilities; Copyright; • Enrolment duty stamp Those of you who have to pay this fee will find the payment slip in the folder. Please, pay it at the Post Office (or with credit card at the Segreteria Studenti) and hand it together with the “International Students’ Personal Identification Number” form to the Segreteria Studenti in order to obtain the student card. Student card Student card will be issued to exchange students in the Segreteria studenti CITTADELLA. Please check your scheduled appointment and if you have to pay the tuition fees in your STUDENT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER FORM! Only double degree students will obtain the LIBRETTO, while to the other exchange students it will be provided only the student card. Meetings with Academic Advisors Some meetings with academic advisor have already been fixed: prof.Marco Santangelo and prof.Massimo Crotti, Academic Advisors of the I faculty of Architecture, will meet you on March 1st h.14.30 in room 6 V at Valentino Castle. N.B: The presentation of our Project Units for the spring term will take place on February 23rd at 9.00 in room 6 V at Valentino Castle. All exchange students will have to take part to the meeting, in order to decide which Project Unit to load in their Learning Agreement. Within the deadline of March 1st you will have to inform your Advisors (prof.Santangelo and prof.Crotti) by mail about your first and second choice. Meetings with Academic Advisors Prof.Pierpaolo Peruccio, Advisor of Industrial Design, will meet Incoming Students on February 20th at 13,30 in Mirafiori Campus. -------------If your Academic Advisor hasn't established by now a meeting, please contact him by mail, in order to fix an appointment as soon as possible. Italian Language Course CLA (Language Centre) offers all exchange students Italian language courses free of charge (levels A1 and A2). Double degree students Double degree students, in order to graduate, must pass IELTS with 5.0; If you hold another English certificate, please check here if it can be accepted: https://didattica.polito.it/cla/en/certi_inglese.html The enrolment to the IELTS exam requires the payment of about 100 Euros (Segreteria Studenti-Cittadella) and only the students enrolled either in a Bachelor program or in a “Laurea Specialistica” course will be exempted by the fees payment, if they pass the exam at one’s first attempt. Italian and English languages are compulsory for them, but they are also considered as “extra-courses”: this means they not contribute to the credits required to obtain the degree; Pay attention: - DOUBLE DEGREE STUDENTS enrolled on a degree course entirely taught in English must attend Italian language - first level (A 1) within the first year; - DOUBLE DEGREE STUDENTS enrolled on a degree course taught in Italian or taught in English for the first year only must take Lingua italiana – secondo livello (A2). Double degree students According to the our Administrative Committee, double degree students may maintain the economic treatment scheduled by the agreements or projects during at most one academic year after the deadline of the programme (2 years for students coming from Universidad de Belgrano). If one additional year is not sufficient for you to graduate, we inform you that, in order to complete your studies, you will have to pay the Politecnico tuition fees. All double degree students must remember: -to pay the tuition fees for the following years, coming to the Incoming Office at the end of September (pay attention to the deadlines, because some extra fees could be added); -to pay the 100 Euros for the release of the IELTS certificate; -to fill in “RICHIESTA TESI” (thesis request) and “DOMANDA DI LAUREA” (degree request), following the deadlines scheduled by our Manifesto, and to pay the degree fees. Fiscal Code • The fiscal code (“Codice Fiscale”) is necessary in order to enrol into Politecnico, to apply for the residence permit, to open a bank account, to enter into a tenancy agreement, to receive the payment of a scholarship, etc… The Public Administration requires it in order to identify citizens who live in Italy. • You can apply for it at the IVA Office (Uffici Locali dell’Agenzia delle Entrate). • The addresses are available in the Survival Guide on the specific section “fiscal code”. Residence Permit EXTRA-UE Citizens: Within 8 working days from your arrival in Italy you must apply for the Residence Permit. From Febr 20th till March 2nd, you can apply for your Residence Permit every day from Monday to Friday (from 9 to 11.30 a.m.) at the International Affairs Department (desk n. 10), where you will be given the application form and assistance in filling it. After this period, the desk will be open only on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 to 11.30 a.m. Residence Permit 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Documents to enclose with the application form: Passport copies: 2 photocopies of the page with your personal data + 2 copies of the page with your visa for Italy + the photocopy of all passport pages with a stamp/visa; Photocopy of your codice fiscale (fiscal code); Photocopy of Politecnico invitation letter used for the study-visa purpose with the course in which you are enrolled; “autocertificazione” (self declaration) attesting the enrolment in Politecnico di Torino; you can print it from your personal page on “Portale della Didattica A 14,62 Euro duty stamp (marca da bollo sold in the tobacconist’s); Photocopy of your health insurance contract; The photocopy of a document proving that you dispose of sufficient income to earn your living during your stay in Italy; The slip for the payment of the electronic residence permit card : 27,50 Euros (that is the cost for the issuing of the italian residence permit )+ 80 € (that is the cost of a fee imposed on the issuing of the italian residence permit); the slip is given by the cultural mediator at box n. 10. Afterwards the application has to be handed in at any post office where there is a “Sportello Amico” counter. The postal expenses amount to 30 Euros. Very Important Rules Concerning the Residence Permit • When you submit the application to the post office, you will be given a Receipt, that you always have to bring with you, until you will receive the electronic residence permit (PSE) from the Immigration Office. • You will be given an appointment (day and time) when you have to go to the Questura Immigration Office and get fingerprinted. The fingerprinting appointment must not be missed. • On this appointment you will be required to bring 4 identical passport photos and the original documents, whose copies were enclosed in the kit, including any document missing in your application. • It is strongly recommended to verify the status of your application 2 weeks after the fingerprints at the Foreign Citizens Services Unit, desk n. 1-2 at the International Affairs Department. Very Important Rules Concerning the Residence Permit • There are strict rules to follow for leaving and re-entering Italy while you have only the receipt. • Before starting a journey and buying a ticket it is advisable to ask for more detailed information at the Foreign Citizens Services Unit (Desk 1-2) at the Department of International Affairs. Residence Permit Residence Permit UE citizen: European citizens since the 11th of April 2007 are not required to apply for the residence permit; they must register at the Registry Office (Ufficio Anagrafe) of the town of residence, if their stay in Italy lasts longer than 3 months. Information for International Students living in Sponda Verde Residence In order not to fall into arrears (10% of the month rent), we remind you to pay the rent within: Hosting facility SPONDA VERDE Payment of the rent The 1st OF THE MONTH directly at the residence IMPORTANT: If you want to modify the booking period (written in the Accommodation Acceptance Form) you have to come to our office (Foreign Citizens Services) and you have to inform the manager of the residence. Private Flats • Rents vary according to the area, the condition of the flat etc. and, on average, the price is 250,00/350,00 Euros per month/person for a single room, and about 200,00/280,00 Euros per month /person for a place in a twin room. • The Foreign Citizens Services has an updated list of available flats for rent. • Moreover Sportello Casa Office offers a free service in finding an accommodation close to the University facilities. Medical Service Politecnico medical service (Infermeria): ground floor, next to Bar Katia Open from 8:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Friday Fax/Photocopies • Personal faxes can be sent from any Tabaccheria shop and copyservice. • You can do some photocopying at “Centro Stampa” - located inside all Politecnico facilities - or in one of the many copy-services nearby. Students’ Associations • Students’ associations are formed by students interested in the University life (cultural, drama, recreational activities). • A list of some students’ associations can be found on the specific section of the Survival Guide. • Students’ associations offices are in SOBRERO Square (inside the headquarter of corso Duca degli Abruzzi 24). How to open a Bank Account Documents required: • The Italian fiscal code (codice fiscale) • Residence permit (or the postal receipt) for non-UE citizens • ID card or passport • A certificate of enrolment at Politecnico or a form given by the Foreign Citizens Services Unit (only if you open the bank account at the Poli-Unicredit bank) Transport Monthly ticket: 21 € (for students under 26 years old). Bring always with you on the bus: the “Certificato di Iscrizione” and the Politecnico ID Card!
