Italy towards a system for continuous training:
three years courses and IFTS (Istruzione e Formazione Tecnica Superiore)
The Liguria Region has been experiencing, since the year 2003/2004, some "three-year education-training courses".
These training programs link the acquisition of a targeted qualification, according to the needs expressed by the local
labor market. Each course includes three years of training (1050 hours per year), focusing on the customization of
training, which is divided into learning units. Achieving the qualification represents the priority of the project, both from an
educational and professional point of view. The course plan include a final evaluation stage, based on a professional
proof, a multidisciplinary test and an interview.
The IFTS is, on the other hand, a training system that combines the resources of school, professional training, universities
and the working world. The goals are two: to accelerate the young’s entry into the working world, and to retrain those who
already have work experience. In order to ensure that professional skills can be acquired through practical experience, an
internship is required covering the 30% of the course.
La Regione Liguria sperimenta, fin dall'anno scolastico 2003/2004 alcuni "percorsi triennali di istruzione-formazione
professionale". Si tratta di percorsi formativi che puntano all'acquisizione di una qualifica mirata, secondo le necessità
espresse dal mercato del lavoro locale. Il percorso prevede tre anni formativi della durata di 1050 ore ciascuno, puntando
sulla personalizzazione della formazione, suddivisa per unità di apprendimento. Il conseguimento della qualifica
rappresenta la priorità del progetto sia in senso professionale sia pedagogico. E' previsto uno stage di valutazione finale
che si basa sulla prova professionale, su una prova multidisciplinare e su un colloquio.
Quello degli IFTS è invece un sistema formativo che integra le risorse di scuola, formazione professionale, università e
mondo del lavoro. Gli obiettivi che si prefigge sono due: accelerare l'ingresso nel mondo del lavoro per i giovani;
riqualificare chi è già in possesso di un'esperienza lavorativa. Per far sì che le abilità professionali possano venire
acquisite tramite esperienze pratiche, è obbligatorio uno stage in azienda pari al 30% delle ore del corso.

Study visit 2 – AULA METELINO – 3rd floor

Continuous training at the University of Genoa
The University of Genoa offers a wide range of courses for both employed and unemployed people holding a diploma or a
degree. As a matter of fact, the University has progressively become a reference for Higher Education in the Liguria
Region. During the study visit, particular focus will be put on the Postgraduate Masters, specialization and training
courses, with a case-study: the Managerial Course for directors of hospital departments.
L’Università di Genova propone una vasta gamma di percorsi formativi rivolti a giovani laureati o ad adulti laureati o anche
solo diplomati, occupati o non occupati. Di fatto, negli anni l’Ateneo si è via via qualificato come punto di riferimento per
l’Alta Formazione nella Regione Liguria. Durante la study visit, si farà particolare riferimento ai Master universitari, ai Corsi
di perfezionamento e ai Corsi di formazione, con la presentazione dettagliata di un caso in campo sanitario: il Corso
manageriale per Dirigenti di struttura complessa.

Study visit 3 – AULA FAMAGOSTA – 3rd floor

The “Alta Via” Master Degree for graduated apprenticeship
This Master is based on partnership with some companies that will immediately arrange a apprenticeship contract with the
selected students. The course is divided into 300 hours of classes, 300 hours of non-formal teaching, 900 hours of
internship and individual study. The individual training plan represent a tool for monitoring and evaluating skills (at the
beginning, during and at the end of the Master). The synthesis of the whole project has been included in the “Citizen
Training Booklet”, given to students at the end of the course.
Si tratta di un Master svolto in partenariato con alcune aziende che provvedono a stipulare immediatamente un contratto
di apprendistato con i corsisti selezionati. Il corso prevede 300 ore di formazione formale, 300 ore di formazione non
formale, 900 ore tra stage in azienda e studio individuale. Il piano formativo individuale si configura come uno strumento
di monitoraggio e valutazione delle competenze (all’avvio, in itinere e a conclusione del Master). La sintesi dell’intero
processo è stata inserita nel Libretto Formativo del Cittadino, consegnato ai corsisti a fine corso.

Study visit 4 – AULA LANTERNA – 3rd floor

Sectoral LLL: experiences in Medicine, Engineering, Maritime
In this study visit some significant experiences in the three areas set forth in the title will be presented: first of all, in the
medical and health area, the Medical Education Centre and the two Masters which are held in the Campus of Savona
(Rehabilitation for musculoskeletal disorders and Sports Physiotherapy). Within engineering, prominence will be given to
the Industrial Plants Master, and to several European projects partnered by the University of Genoa. Finally, as regards
the maritime and transport area, the European project “TransportNet" will be presented.
In questa study visit vengono presentate alcune esperienze significative nei tre ambiti esposti nel titolo. Nell’ambito
medico-sanitario verranno presentati il Centro di Medical Education e i Master che si tengono nel Campus di Savona
(Riabilitazione dei disordini muscoloscheletrici e Fisioterapia per lo sport). Nell’ambito ingegneristico si darà ampio risalto
al Master in Impiantistica industriale e ad alcuni progetti europei di cui l’Università di Genova è partner. Infine, per quanto
riguarda il settore marittimo e dei trasporti, verrà presentato il progetto europeo “TransportNet”.
