SUNDAY
Today's gospel has two parts. In the first part,
Jesus announces that the Kingdom of
Heaven has come near; therefore, it is time
to repent and change. In the second part,
Jesus calls his first disciples who were
fishermen to help him proclaim and live out
his vision of the Kingdom.
Campaign 2007-2008
Thanks so much to everyone who’s contributed so far. We
appreciate your commitment to this parish. To date, we’ve
raised over $339,000 for our Capital Campaign Fund, but
please, let’s keep up the momentum, because we still have
much to raise in order to pay for all the exterior and interior
restoration (close to $600,000). If you haven’t done so
already, please consider a donation of $1,000, either in one
lump sum or in instalments. Some can afford less and
some can do more, but each and every donation is
appreciated!

do so anytime during the week at the office.
The Scriptural Reflection Group meets this Tuesday, January
29th at 7:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the parish house
Confirmation Updates
There is a meeting in the church for all parents and Confirmation
Candidates this Wednesday, January 30th at 7 p.m.
Holy Hour for Vocations
Holy Hour takes place in the church from 6 – 7 p.m. this 1st
Friday, February 1st following the 5:30 p.m. Mass. We will
have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Meditation,
Confessions and ending with Benediction. This is to pray
for an increase in Vocations to the priesthood and religious
life. Please come pray with us.
The Presentation of the Lord
Our parish celebrates Candlemas on Saturday, February 2nd at 9 a.m.
We will have the traditional blessing of candles and procession into the
Church. We will provide simple candles for everyone, but feel free to
bring your own if you’d like.
Blessing of Throats
We will have the Blessing of Throats next weekend at the Sunday
Masses.
Parish Lenten Retreat
Please mark your calendars for our Parish Lenten Retreat which will
take place next Saturday, February 2nd from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The retreat will include Morning Prayer, Parish Mass at 9:00 a.m. for
the Presentation of the Lord followed by Eucharistic Adoration with
guided meditations. A light lunch will be served. Please call the office
to register.
Family Mass
Next Sunday, February 3rd, we will not be having the
Children’s Liturgy at either of the Masses. Instead, we
invite all the children to come for a “Family Mass” at 9:15
a.m., so everyone will get a chance to gp down to the Hall
for Breakfast.
9th Annual Pancake Breakfast
The 9th Annual St. Clare’s Parish Pancake
Breakfast is set for next Sunday, February
3rd from 8:30 a.m. to 12 Noon in the
Church Hall. For just $3, you’ll get a
nice meal of pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee.
Get your tickets today.
Wednesday, February 6th is Ash Wednesday. Ashes will be
distributed at the 9 a.m. Mass and also at a special
celebration at 7:30 p.m. We also have Ash Wednesday
services at 10 a.m. for Stella Maris School and at 1:15 p.m.
for St. Clare School which are open to anyone. Please
remember that this is a day of Fast & Abstinence.
February 11th is the Feast of
Our Lady of Lourdes and is
designated as World Day for
the Sick. A Mass for the sick
and suffering members of our community will be celebrated
at ST. NICHOLAS OF BARI PARISH, at 10:00 a.m. on
Saturday, February 9th.
We especially encourage
parishioners to bring any shut-ins they have at home to
Mass that morning. We invite everyone to bring sweets if
they can, to be served afterwards. To the sick in our
parish, we offer our prayers for your well-being and ask the
Lord to enkindle in you a courage and hope beyond all
measure. To health care workers in our midst – a heart-felt
thanks.

La chiesa è nata sulle rive del lago di Galilea, dove il vento ha il
sapre salmastro delle partenze a vele spiegate, dove si respire il
fascino dell’avventura in cui si rischia tutto: il luogo ideale perché
la buona notizia prenda il volo, sorretta dal soffio dello Spirito.
Campagna 2007 - 2008
Grazie a tutti coloro che hanno già contribuito. Fin oggi, abbiamo
raccolto circa $339,000 per la nostra Campagna Restauritiva.
Continuamo a questo passo, perché dobbiamo raccogliere tanto di
più per potere affrontare le spese di questi lavori (i quali saranno
quasi $600,000). Se ancora non avete potuto fare un’offerta,
considerate un offerta di $1,000, a poco a poco o ad una volta.
Sappiamo che c’è chi può fare di più e c’è chi può fare di meno,
ma qualsiasi offerta sarà ben accettata. Grazie, di nuovo.
Ritiro in preparazione alla Quaresima
Il ritiro in preparazione alla quaresima avrà luogo sabato prossimo,
2 febbraio dalle 8:15 a.m. al’1:30 p.m. Avremo delle Preghiera
Matutina, Messa Parrocchiale alle 9:00 a.m. per la Presentazione
del Signore, seguita dal Adorazione Eucharistica con meditazioni.

La Presentazione del Signore
Anche sabato prossimo, 2 febbraio alle 9:00 a.m., celebriamo la
Messa in occasione della Presentazione di Gesù Bambino al
Tempio (Messa della Candelora). Ci sarà la benedizione delle
candele con processione in Chiesa (ogni persona riceverà una
candela). Chi desidera può anche portare la sua candela.
9a COLAZIONE ANNUALE A SANTA CHIARA
Avremo la 9a Colazione Annuale qui a S. Chiara, domenica mattina,
3 febbraio, dalle 8:30 fino a Mezzogiorno nella Sala parrocchiale.

Per la devozione della Nostra Signora di Pompeii, continuamo con il

Benedizione della Gola
Avremo la Benezione della Gola durante le Messe domenicali del
prossimo weekend.
L’11 febbraio è la festa della Madonna di Lourdes e per la Chiesa
cattolica questo giorno è considerato giorno di preghiera per tutti
gli ammalati. Una Messa con Unzione Sacramentale per tutti
coloro che sono ammalati o sofferenti sarà celebrate nella chiesa
di S. NICOLA DI BARI alle 10 a.m. sabato, 9 febbraio. Vi
incoraggiamo a portare in chiesa i vostri cari ammalati che hanno
difficoltà a venire da soli. Favorite portare qualche dolce per
convidere dopo Messa. Agli ammalati della nostra comunità,
offriamo le nostre preghiere per il loro benessere e preghiamo che
il Signore li riempia di ogni coraggio e speranza. Per coloro che
tengono cura dei nostri cari ammalati – un caloroso
ringraziamento di vero cuore.

The Capital Campaign Event Committee will have 3 cash draws
throughout the year to help raise funds for the Capital Campaign.
The first prize is $1,000, the second prize is $500 and the third
prize is $250 for each draw. Our first draw will take place on
March 1st at the dinner dance. Please take home a booklet of 10
tickets to sell to family and friends. Tickets are one for $5 or three
for $10. Booklets will also be available to buy (or pick-up) at the
end of weekend masses only, and NOT at the office. Tickets and
money must be returned to the church by Sunday, February 24th
to a campaign representative.
