La SIRE S.p.A., azienda totalmente italiana, produce dal 1970
piastrelle e pezzi speciali in klinker estruso per pavimenti,
rivestimenti, industrie, piscine e arredo urbano con lo storico
marchio KlinkerSire.
In un’ottica di sviluppo della filosofia produttiva ecocompatibile che accompagna l’azienda sin dalla sua
fondazione, lo stabilimento di Cherasco (CN) è al centro di
un importante piano di ristrutturazione e rinnovamento al
termine del quale, i suoi 70.000 mq saranno dotati di uno
dei più importanti impianti fotovoltaici per la produzione di
energia solare rinnovabile della regione.
Il klinker è un prodotto naturale ottenuto miscelando, come
ingredienti principali, diverse argille di selezionata qualità
e acqua. L’impasto viene così plasmato per estrusione,
essiccato e cotto lentamente (fino a 24 ore) a una temperatura
di oltre 1200° C. Questo esclusivo processo produttivo, che
raccoglie tutte le competenze sviluppate da SIRE nella sua
pluri-decennale tradizione industriale, innesca la fusione
dei feldspati e conferisce al prodotto finito robustezza e
resistenza uniche. La cottura lenta ad alta temperatura, unita
al processo di trafilatura sottovuoto (diverso dalla pressatura
a stampo) fa emergere il klinker prodotto da SIRE, rispetto a
tutti gli altri materiali ceramici oggi utilizzati in alternativa, per
la sua assoluta resistenza a macchie, oli, basi e acidi, agenti
atmosferici quali gelo, sole e pioggia.
L’esclusiva lavorazione a coda di rondine sul retro delle
piastrelle assicura, inoltre, un aggrappo delle stesse ai
rivestimenti verticali chiaramente e decisamente superiore ai
prodotti della concorrenza che presentano un retro liscio.
L’offerta dei prodotti SIRE comprende non solo piastrelle in
piccoli e grandi formati ma anche una vastissima gamma di
pezzi speciali che solo il processo produttivo di “estrusione”
consente di produrre: battiscopa, angolari, raccordi a
pavimento e a parete, corrimano, gradini per scale e terminali
di pedata.
La produzione è diversificata in materiali grezzi, semilucidi,
smaltati e corindonati per rivestimenti e pavimentazioni
residenziali; piastrelle a spessore maggiorato per l’industria;
pezzi su misura per superfici urbane; rivestimenti per piscine
con differenti bordi, sfioratori e piastrelle antisdrucciolo per
tutte le diverse esigenze della zona balneazione.

SIRE SpA, a real Italian company, has been manufacturing
extruded klinker tiles and special pieces for flooring, coverings,
industrial plants, swimming pools and urban design since
1970 under the historical KlinkerSire brand.
With the aim of building an “eco-friendly” and sustainable
production, aim that characterizes the company since its
establishment, SIRE plant in Cherasco (CN) is in the turning
point of a restructuring and renewal plan. At the end of this
plan all the 70.000 covered square meters of its plant will be
equipped with the most important photovoltaic system for
the production of renewable solar energy of the entire region.
Klinker is a natural product obtained by mixing, as main
ingredients, different deeply selected clays and water.
The mixture is then shaped by extrusion, dried and slowly
cooked at over 1200°c temperature. This unique production
process, that embodies all SIRE skills elaborated in decades
of industrial tradition, starts the feldspar fusion and grants to
the finished product unmatched hardiness and strength. The
high temperature slow firing along with vacuum extrusion
(different from mould pressing) set KlinkerSire apart from all
the other ceramic products used nowadays as alternative: for
its stains, oils, acids and bases resistance, for its frost and
thermal shock resistance and for its low absorption.
Furthermore, the exclusive so-called “dove tail” on tile back
guarantees a much more secure and lasting “grip” to vertical
surfaces than any other competition products with flat back.
SIRE offer does not only include small or big size tiles, but a
huge variety of special pieces that only an extrusion process
allow: skirting, angular profile, joints, coves, floor level
unions, walls unions, handrails, treads and terminal treads.
SIRE production diversifies in unglazed, glazed, semi-glazed,

Il klinker è un prodotto naturale, composto principalmente da argilla
(circa il 65-70%), chamotte (circa il 30-35%), acqua, aria e fuoco.
Da un punto di vista chimico, ogni nostra piastrella è una massa prodotta
con argille e inerti silico-alluminosi esente da fanghi aggiuntivi o sostanze di
smaltimento pericolose e inquinanti.
Il klinker prodotto da SIRE resiste alle aggressioni chimiche di acidi, basi e
oli e alle sollecitazioni fisiche degli urti e dei graffi; è refrattario alle macchie
oltre a essere facilmente lavabile anche nelle versioni con superficie lavorata; è
antiscivolo, per una camminata sicura anche sotto la pioggia o a bordo piscina.
Ha scarsissima porosità e minima conduzione termica, quindi ottime proprietà
isolanti.
I colori sono inalterabili e restano brillanti anche con esposizioni prolungate al
sole o sotto l’azione dell’acqua, dell’umidità e del gelo.
L’esclusiva sagomatura a coda di rondine, posta sul retro delle piastrelle,
garantisce un ancoraggio perfetto e duraturo su qualunque piano di posa,
orizzontale o verticale.

Klinker is a natural product mainly made up of clay (about 65-70%), chamotte
(about 30-35%), water, air and fire.
From the chemical composition point of view, every tile is produced with clays
and silicon-aluminous inert material, without any additional of slurry or dangerous
polluting waste substances.
SIRE extruded Klinker is highly resistant to chemical agents as acids, bases and
oils, and to physical stress as impact and scratches. Klinker repeals stains and
even its structured surfaces are extremely easy to clean. It features excellent
anti-slip properties, therefore it is safe to walk on it either in rain or around
swimming pools edges.
It has extremely low porosity and minimal heat conduction which grant
excellent insulating properties.
Colours remain bright and do not fade through time even when exposed to
strong sunlight, water, humidity and frost.

SIRE does not use raw materials with radiations that can be considered
dangerous for the health or the environment. SIRE production process is clean
and fits the bio-architecture requirements: healthiness and energy saving. It is
strictly checked in every single stage in order to lower any possible impact on
the environment and workers.

− Nei nuovi impianti si raggiunge un risparmio vicino al 50% sul consumo di gas naturale rispetto a quello dei primi, attivati oltre 40 anni fa e non più esistenti.
− L’aria calda dei forni è recuperata e utilizzata nella fase di essiccazione lenta dell’impasto estruso e per il riscaldamento degli uffici.
− Le polveri e tutti gli scarti di produzione sono recuperati e reinseriti nel ciclo produttivo.
Il Trattamento Antipollution KlinkerSire, grazie al processo fotocatalitico,
permette la trasformazione e l’abbattimento degli ossidi di azoto inquinanti,
con un’efficacia, dopo quattro ore di esposizione ad irraggiamento solare, del
95% (test effettuati da Colorobbia Italia S.p.A.). Studi recenti affermano che
1 metro quadrato di piastrelle con effetto fotocatalico, se esposto alla luce
del giorno per otto ore, può determinare un abbattimento degli inquinanti con
depurazione di un volume d’aria pari a 72 metri cubi.
Il Trattamento Antibatterico KlinkerSire contribuisce a prevenire la contaminazione
batterica, laddove richiesto, in aree ad alto passaggio: il Centro Ricerca &
Sviluppo SIRE ha realizzato una protezione integrata antibatterica, applicabile
alle piastrelle in fase di produzione, la cui azione raggiunge il 99% di efficacia
sui principali ceppi batterici ed è attiva 24 ore su 24.
Ecocompatibilità, sicurezza e rispetto dell’ambiente sono le caratteristiche

- The new production lines make possible a 50% gas and energy saving com
pared with the 40 years old ones (no longer existing in SIRE).
- The kilns hot air is re-used in the slow mixture drying process and to heat
the offices.
- All the treated powders and the production waste are recovered and reinte grated in the production process.
KlinkerSire anti-pollution treatment , with a photocatalytic process, converts
and drop the polluting nitrogen oxide down of 95% in just 4 hours of sun exposure
(test made by Colorobbia Italia S.p.A.). Recent studies prove that 1 cubic meter
of treated tiles, if exposed to day sun rays for 8 hours, purify a volume equal to
72 cubic meter of air by dropping down the polluting elements.
KlinkerSire Antibacteria treatment helps to prevent bacterial contamination
in high passage areas: The SIRE R&D Department achieved an integrated
antibacterial protection applied on tiles during production process that is
effective against 99% of the bacteria types and it works 24 hours a day.

Terra
La terra è costituita da argilla ed inerti silico-alluminosi. Gli
elementi contenuti nelle argille di base, sotto l’azione del
fuoco, ad alte temperature, si trasformano in un’amalgama
fusa che indurendosi durante il raffreddamento molto
lento dà vita ad un prodotto biologicamente puro, questo
nel chiaro rispetto della sicurezza di igienicità del prodotto
finito. Tra le argille di base sono totalmente assenti elementi
inquinanti quali: fosfato, solfuri e fluoruri, mentre oltre al
silice e all’allumina, che sono gli elementi primari, ci sono
anche minerali fondenti (potassio, sodio, magnesio, calcio)
e i coloranti (ferro, nelle forme bivalente e trivalente e
titanio).
Earth
Earth is made up of clay and silicon-aluminous inert
materials. The elements contained in the base clays, when
subjected to fire, turn at high temperatures into a melted
amalgam that hardens during a very slow cooling phase
into a product that is biologically pure, while respecting
the need for the finished product to be safe and hygienic.
Among the base clays there are no traces of polluting
elements such as phosphate, sulphides and fluorides, while
in addition to silica and alumina, which are the primary
elements, they also contain melting minerals (potassium,
sodium, magnesium and calcium) and colouring agents
(iron, in the bivalent and trivalent forms, and titanium).
Terra Cotta
La terra cotta (o chamotte) è klinker di recupero ottenuto da
tutte le fasi del ciclo produttivo, più manufatti di porcellana
pura, anch’essi frantumati a finezza controllata e introdotti
nell’impasto.

Terra cotta (or chamotte) is klinker recovered throughout all
the phases of the manufacturing cycle, plus pure porcelain
articles crushed into a controlled fineness and inserted into
the tile body.
Acqua
L’acqua è un elemento molto importante nel ciclo
produttivo, indispensabile per impastare ed amalgamare
la miscela di argilla e chamotte. Proviene dai cicli di
lavorazione dopo opportuno trattamento (è convogliata
in particolari depuratori, recuperata e riciclata nel nuovo
ciclo produttivo). Durante il procedimento di essiccazione
delle piastrelle l’acqua contenuta nell’impasto evapora ed è
restituita pura in atmosfera (questo grazie alla presenza di
particolari filtri e depuratori).
Water
Water is an extremely important element in the
manufacturing cycle; it is essential to make and mix the
clay and chamotte amalgam. The water comes from the
processing cycles, after being suitably treated (sent to
special purifying plants, recovered and recycled into the
new production cycle). During the drying phase, the water
contained in the body of the tile evaporates and is
re-released pure into the environment (thanks to the use of
special filters and purifying plants).
Aria
L’aria, altro importante elemento costitutivo del klinker,
è utilizzata per il processo di essiccazione (aria calda
recuperata dalla zona di raffreddamento del forno). E’ usata
nel processo di cottura, miscelata con il gas metano per
la combustione. Anche in questi casi, l’aria immessa nei
forni, assieme al gas di combustione, è filtrata e restituita a
temperatura ambiente in atmosfera.
Air
Air, another important element of the extruded klinker, is
used during the drying process (hot air recovered in the
cooling zone of the kilns). It is used in the firing process,
mixed with methane gas for combustion. Also in these cases,
the air sent into the kilns, together with the combustion
gas, is filtered and returned into the environment at room
temperature.
Fuoco
Il fuoco è l’ultimo elemento naturale che compone il klinker.
Con la sua energia, raggiunge punte di 1250° C, in alcune
fasi della cottura del klinker, modificando la struttura
molecolare del prodotto fino a raggiungere il risultato finale
di un manufatto altamente compatto che dopo la lenta
fase di raffreddamento origina un klinker estremamente
robusto, resistente agli attacchi chimici, igienicamente
sicuro, ignifugo, resistente agli sbalzi termici ed al gelo, non
assorbente, resistente ad ogni tipo di macchia, duraturo nel
tempo.
Fire is the last natural element that makes up extruded
klinker. The energy produced by fire can reach peaks of up
to 1250° C, during some firing phases of klinker, modifying
the molecular structure of the product to the point where
the final result is achieved: a highly compact article that
after the initial slow cooling phase becomes an extremely
hard-wearing klinker, resistant to chemical agents, hygienic,
safe, fireproof, resistant to temperature shocks and frost,
stain resistant, impervious and designed to last.

POSA A SECCO / DRY LAYING
Le piastrelle vengono posate, con una fuga di 3 - 5 mm, su di un sottofondo composto da un primo strato (15 - 20 cm)
di ghiaia mista a pietrisco e da un secondo strato di sabbia (5 -10 cm).
Consente di ottenere una pavimentazione calpestabile senza la formazione di un massetto e senza
l’uso di malte o colle.
The tiles are laid, with a joint of 3 - 5 mm, on a foundation made up of a first layer (15 - 20 cm) of gravel mixed
