A note from Fr. Wayne . . .
From the Deacon’s desk . . .
Believe it or not, we have begun the annual celebration of Advent. This marks
the beginning of a new Church year and
season. This Advent Season is marked
with a joyful anticipation for the birth of
Jesus. We are called on to take these four weeks of
Advent and prepare the way of the Lord in our
hearts, homes, and world. These next few weeks will
be consumed with the busy and hectic schedules of
trying to fit everything in before Christmas. Between
the shopping and the parties, we must take time and
just stop and reflect on the significance of this time.
We are preparing for the birth of Jesus. This demands that we step back from the craziness of the
upcoming weeks. Jesus deserves our undivided attention. Please make some time in this Advent Season and do just that, offer to Him your attention.
This might be the best gift you can give to Him and
yourself.
Sharing a Constantino Family Tradition
Growing up, my family prayed around the Advent
Wreath in preparation for the Season of Christmas.
Part of that tradition was The Christmas Prayer that
starts on the Feast of St. Andrew (Monday, November 30th) and is prayed through and including Christmas Eve.
Hail and blessed be the hour and moment
at which the Son of God was born
of a most pure Virgin.
At a stable at midnight in Bethlehem
in the piercing cold
at that hour vouchsafe, I beseech Thee,
to hear my prayers and grant my desires
(mention request here).
Through Jesus Christ and His Most Blessed
Mother. Amen
Say this prayer 15x each day.
This prayer has never failed!

ornaments on the Advent Giving Tree.
The ornaments have a specific item and
size on it. We ask that you buy the gift and
return it to the Church unwrapped by December
20th. As is our tradition, the gifts will be distributed
to our brothers and sisters at the Meridian House.

LA REDENZIONE È VICINA
La padronanza sempre maggiore dell’uomo moderno sulle realtà del mondo, la capacità di «possedere»
gli avvenimenti e di ridurli a qualcosa di prevedibile,
non lasciano posto per la «vigilanza» nel senso biblico della parola, ma solo per la «previdenza». Il compito che attende tutti gli uomini di oggi è complesso:
si tratta di trasformare il mondo, di promuovere le
strutture che lo rendano abitabile dall’uomo, di inventare e re-inventare continuamente per superare le
grandi sfide che si impongono all’umanità di oggi: la
fame, la guerra, l’ingiustizia... Arriverà il giorno in cui
tutto sarà previsto e nulla potrà più disturbare la sicurezza umana? L’uomo antico sentiva che gli mancavano le risorse per arrivare da solo al compimento
dell’avventura umana, e in questa povertà scopriva il
Dio che salva. Il popolo ebreo si sentiva guidato da
Iahvè nella fedeltà all’alleanza e ne attendeva vigilante la venuta: «Io realizzerò le promesse...» Per i primi
cristiani l’evento storico di Gesù di Nazaret manifestava talmente «il Signore che viene» da mobilitare
dinanzi a lui tutta la loro attenzione e tutte le loro
energie. Gesù di Nazaret appariva il vigilante per eccellenza; suo cibo era fare la volontà del Padre che lo
aveva mandato; la sua vigilanza si traduceva
nell’interrogare con realismo gli avvenimenti e
nell’accogliere l’oggi di Dio nella storia degli uomini.
A te, Signore, innalzo l'anima mia, in te confido.
Fammi conoscere, Signore, le tue vie,
insegnami i tuoi sentieri.
Guidami nella tua fedeltà e istruiscimi,
perché sei tu il Dio della mia salvezza.
Buono e retto è il Signore,
indica ai peccatori la via giusta;
guida i poveri secondo giustizia,
insegna ai poveri la sua via.
Tutti i sentieri del Signore sono amore e
fedeltà per chi custodisce la sua alleanza e i
suoi precetti. Il Signore si confida con chi lo
teme: gli fa conoscere la sua alleanza.

alla venuta del Signore nostro Gesù con tutti i suoi
santi. Per il resto, fratelli, vi preghiamo e supplichiamo nel Signore Gesù affinché, come avete imparato
da noi il modo di comportarvi e di piacere a Dio - e
così già vi comportate -, possiate progredire ancora di
più. Voi conoscete quali regole di vita vi abbiamo dato da parte del Signore Gesù.

the special collection on
November 21–22.
The histories of religious Sisters
tell great love stories.
Each chapter includes generous women who responded
with compassion and care to the pastoral needs of the
faithful through their service in schools, hospitals, and
social service agencies.
We are blessed to have more than 1,700 Sisters
representing more than 80 religious communities who
have served the Archdiocese of Boston. Rising median ages
and escalating costs for health care have contributed to
the great need to supplement Social Security benefits that
cover only 20% of actual medical and retirement costs for
each Retired Sister.
The special collection on November 21-22 provides a
wonderful opportunity to say thank you to these faith-filled
women. The funds raised through this collection help meet
day-to-day needs for Retired Sisters, such as prescription
medications, nursing assistance, health care, and more.
