in 1983
Benvenuti a Milano per il Festival Internazionale “Sport Movies & TV”. Questa
29esima edizione offrirà al pubblico, dal 28 ottobre al 2 novembre, sei giorni
di cinema, televisione e cultura con l’opportunità di rivivere alcuni dei più
interessanti momenti sportivi, grazie alle immagini di eccezionali conquiste,
forti emozioni e ricordi indimenticabili. Vorrei ringraziare la Federation
Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs (FICTS) per il suo grande contributo
e l’impegno nella promozione dei valori e degli ideali olimpici, in particolare
tra i giovani. Auguro agli organizzatori e ai partecipanti un piacevole Festival.
E buona fortuna a tutti i film e i video in concorso.

Welcome to Milan for the 2011 Sport Movies & TV International Festival.
From 28 October to 2 November, this 29th edition will provide the public
with six days of cinema television and culture while giving them the opportunity to relive some beautiful
sporting moments, thanks to images of exceptional achievements, powerful emotions and unforgettable
memories. I would like here to congratulate the Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs
(FICTS) for its strong contribution and commitment to the promotion of the Olympic values and ideals,
particularly among young people.
I wish the organisers and the participants an enjoyable Festival. And good luck to all the movies in the
competition.

“Sport Movies & TV”, che costituisce la Finale del “World FICTS Challenge”
– il Campionato Mondiale articolato in 14 Festival in 5 Continenti, conclude
una serie di eventi annuali realizzati, in collaborazione con il CIO e con i 108
Paesi membri della Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs, con
l’intento di promuovere i valori dello sport, di perseguire la diffusione delle
tendenze artistiche e culturali della TV, del cinema mondiale e dei new media.
Dal 1983 operiamo per diffondere il messaggio culturale ed educativo dello
sport, “movimento globale al servizio dell’umanità” basato su universalità,
tolleranza, etica, rispetto, pace, autodisciplina e fair play.
“Sport Movies & TV”, which constitutes the “World FICTS Challenge” Final,
the World Championship divided into 14 Festival in 5 Continents, concludes
a series of annual events realized in collaboration with CIO and with the 108 Countries members of
the Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs with the purpose of promoting sports values, of
pursuing the diffusion of television, world cinema and new media artistic and cultural tendencies. From
1983 we operate to spread the sport cultural and educational message, “global movement in the service
of humanity” based on universality, tolerance, ethics, respect, peace, self-discipline and fair play.

The Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs (FICTS), organisation recognised by the
International Olympic Committee (IOC), is promoting Olympic Values via sport images.
La FICTS mira a promuovere i Valori Olimpici e la cultura delle discipline sportive in molti modi. Il “World
FICTS Challenge”, costituito dai Festival Internazionali, è uno di questi, che permette di promuovere tali
valori attraverso la Sezione Olimpica dei Festival.
FICTS aims at promoting Olympic Values and the culture of sports disciplines in many ways. The “World
FICTS Challenge”, made up by International Festivals, is one of them, which enables to promote these
values through the Olympic Section of the Festival.
La FICTS assicura l’iscrizione gratuita al Festival per i membri della Famiglia Olimpica, ovvero le Federazioni
Internazionali e i Comitati Olimpici Nazionali, così come le emittenti detentrici dei diritti.
FICTS allows free registration to the Festival for members of the Olympic Family, i.e. International
Federations and National Olympic Committees, as well as rights holding broadcasters.
Attraverso la struttura dei Festival, la FICTS sostiene i produttori e i registi nel processo di autorizzazione
dei diritti per l’uso del patrimonio Olimpico attraverso la sua collaborazione con l’Olympic Television
Archive Bureau (OTAB).
Within the framework of the Festival, FICTS supports producers and directors in the process of rights
clearance for use of Olympic patrimony through its collaboration with the Olympic Television Archive
Bureau (OTAB).
Il patrocinio del CIO aiuta con un supporto le attività istituzionali e fornisce anche un premio finale per il
vincitore della sezione “Spirito Olimpico”di “Sport Movies & Tv”. In questa occasione, il CIO presenta un
video recente da proiettare durante la parte finale della rassegna.
The IOC patronage helps support institutional activities and also provides a final price for the winner of
the “Olympic Spirit” section of “Sport Movies & Tv”. In this occasion, the IOC presents a recent movies
to be shown during the final part of the review.

“FICTS Is Culture Through Sport” è il motto della Federation Internationale Cinema
Television Sportifs (FICTS) che, rivolgendosi al mondo dello sport, della cultura, dei
media e della comunicazione, alle Istituzioni, alle Scuole ed alle Università intende promuovere i valori, l’Olimpismo, la funzione etica e culturale del Movimento
Sportivo.
“FICTS Is Culture Through Sport” is the motto of the Federation Internationale
Cinema Television Sportifs (FICTS) that, referring to the world of sport, culture,
medias and communication, Institutions, Schools and Universities intend to encourage the values, the Olympism, the ethic and the cultural function of the Sports
Movement.
L’azione della FICTS si sviluppa principalmente attraverso due mezzi di comunicazione di massa quali la televisione e il cinema, coinvolgendo gli autori, i registi,
gli attori, i produttori, le organizzazioni sportive e sollecitandoli a diffondere le
immagini sportive che, nei diversi linguaggi e nelle differenti forme produttive, contribuiscono allo sviluppo e all’aumento delle tendenze culturali e artistiche della
televisione e del cinema mondiali.
The FICTS action develop itself mainly through two mass-communication media
such as Television and Cinema, involving authors, actors, film directors, producers,
sports organizations and pressing them for the diffusion of sports images that, in
many languages and formats, contribute to develop and to increase the cultural
and artistic trends of television and cinema worldwide.

To favour and to promote the meetings and the collaborations
among those who work in a creative way in the sport’s sector
through festivals, meetings, conferences, debates, congresses,
manifestations and events, even with specific initiatives
(School and Young, Formation, Research, Archive,

Realizzare una rete di distribuzione di audiovisivi tecnico-didattici per aiutare – soprattutto nei
Paesi in via di sviluppo – la promozione e la diffusione della pratica sportiva come necessità
educativa e sociale diffondendo in particolare il concetto dello “sport per tutti”.
To realize a wide net of free distribution of technical-didactic audiovisuals to help and support
– mainly in those developing Countries – the promotion and spread the sports practice as an

Film – Barcelona International FICTS
Fest”, event organized by Fundació

Distribution. The Ateneu Barcelonès,
with more than 150 years of history,
has hosted the “Opening Ceremony”.
During the Festival it took place the
Workshops “The Educational values
of Sport on Television and Film” and
“Private and public finance for the
production of sports films” organised in
collaboration with ESPN Emea. During
the “Award Ceremony”, at the “Museu
Olímpic i De L’esport”, headed by Juli
Pernas Lopez, Prof. Franco Ascani gave
the Excellence Guirlande d’Honneur to
the President of the Spanish Olympic
Committee Dr. Alejandro Blanco.

The first Edition of the “Istanbul
International FICTS Fest” ended with
a success with public and Critics. The
event organized in collaboration with
the Saraçoğlu Productions Ltd, the
Turkey General Directorate of Youth
and Sports, the Culture Italian Institute
in Turkey, the İstanbul Metropolitan
Municipality and Sports AS, hosted the
Workshop “Role of the film industry in
the development of sport categories”
attended by the delegates of the most
important world television broadcasts.
The “Award Ceremony” took place in
the Aya Irini Church that, in the past,
hosted qualifying concerts of the big
personalities of music. NTV Sport –
the most important sport channel in
Turkey – has been the media partner
with 6 live-hours of the Festival every
day. The Festival involved - beyond the
producers and the directors coming
from all over the world – 25 cinema
and sport Universities and 30 Turkey
cities in the pursuit of the slogan “Sport
and Culture”.

In the framework of the International
Forum “Russia - Country of Sports” was
held the “Saransk International FICTS
Festival” at the State National Drama
Theater of Republic of Mordovia. The
Festival was organised by International
Festival Sports Movie presided by
Shamil Tarpishchev, IOC Member and
President of Tennis Russian Federation.
The aim of the Festival - directed by
Mr Yakov Shatkhin - was to promote
the life style and the development of
Olympic values besides to contribute
to the international cooperation of the
sport in the centenary of the founding
of the Olympic Movement of Russia.
FICTS President Prof. Franco Ascani
took part - besides the meeting and the
encounter - to the Opening and Closing
Ceremonies that took place at the Hotel
Nadejda di Saransk at the presence of
important personalities of the Russian
sports world.

“5th KAMPALA INTERNATIONAL FICTS FESTIVAL”

The “5th Kampala International FICTS
Festival”, opened by the FICTS Uganda
President, Andrew P. Luwandagga, who
evidenced the importance of the African
sport more and more to overturns,
registered a great success of audience
and critic. Jasper Aligaweesa, the General
Secretary of the Uganda National Sports
Council, has been guest of Honour at the
“Opening Ceremony”, who commended
the organising of committee of FICTS
Uganda for putting up the annual event
for the last four years. The “Award
Ceremony” took place at the Club “The
Beaujolais” of Kampala to the presence
of personalities of the sport and the
cinema among which the Belgian
director Peter Stevens. Documentaries,
shorts, movies, adverts and cartoons
can take part to the Festival African and
from all over the world.

The city of Liberec hosted - from
20th to 22nd September - the 14th
edition of “Liberec International FICTS
Festival”. The event was organized in the framework of the Worldwide
Championship of the Cinema and sport
television “World FICTS Challenge”
- by the “Sports and Physical Training
Organization” of Liberec in collaboration
with the Ministry of the Education, the
Czech Olympic Committee, the City
and the Region of Liberec. The Festival,
presided by Milan Jirásek (President of
the Czech Olympic Committee) and by
the Vice President Ing. Vladimír Bohá,
is directed by Dr Pavel Landa. The
Opening and Awards Ceremonies - live
broadcasted on Czech television - were
held at the “Technical University” of
Liberec at the presence of prestigious
guests and sport champions.

The “New Sport Film Program ” Fund will be established with this year’s Film Week. As a new attempt of the Twelfth Five –Year
Guideline, the Fund will seek submissions from young directors, independent producers, film majors, and other youth in the film
industry. The Program asks for innovative sports films with new ideas and points of views, the best of which will be produced with
the resources from the Fund. From this day forward, the “New Sport Film Program” will be an essential part of the Beijing International
Sports Film Week, and be held annually each August during the Beijing Olympic City Sports Culture Festival.

Since three years from the Olympic
Games Beijing accommodated the
“7th Beijing International Sports Film
Week”. The “fest of the sport” began
on 6th August with the Final match of
the Italian Super Cup 2011, the first
in absolute in the history, between
A.C. Milan (winner of the Italian
Championship) and Inter F.C. (winner
of Italian Cup) at the Stadium “Bird’s
nest”, futuristic establishment that has
host the Olympic Games 2008. In the
Olympic green, the Olympic Park where
the stadium is situated, was installed
the maxi-screen that showed the
videos in competition. The event, under
the aegis of the FICTS, was organized
by the BODA (Beijing Olympic
Development Association), the China
Central Newsreel and Documentary
Film Study, Center film-documentary of
the Chinese State Tv - C.C.T.V. (China
Central Television) and by the Beijing Tv
Station.

Beijing International Sport Film Week began in 2005 as a non-competitive sports film event held for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
It has been successfully held six times up to now. Beijing International Sport Film Week is dedicated to using the popular flatforms of
film and television to present “ Film in Sports”, which will exhibit the beauty of sports, the glory and value of humanity as well as the
strong bond between sports and people, cities, and countries. Aside from showing a wealth of sports films, the event is also a platform
for the promotion of talented producer’s fine sports films.
The 7th Beijing International Sport Film Week will be centered on the theme “Glowing Dynamic Sport World”. The event will present
official Olympics films as well as a collection of Olympic promotional clips over the years and outstanding sports films, and seek
submissions of sports films from professionals, semi-professionals, and the general public. The 7th Beijing International Sport Film Week
carries on with the previous incarnations by bringing film into communities and schools, acts as a vessel for participation by the public,
promotes the creation of sports films, advances the film industry, nourishes exchange in the television industry, and furthers
the internationalization of Beijing in order to create an internationally influential, highly professional cultural event.

present at the “Opening Ceremony” of
the “Beijing International Sports Film
Week” anticipated, on 8th August, by
a performance at the Water Cube. Prof.
Ascani took part to the International
“Beijing Olympic City Development
Forum” with the speech on the topic
“The reusing of Olympic heritage and
creative industry” dealing with the
effects of the Olympic legacy on the
Chinese educational system in order to
promote, through specific programmes,
the development and the values of
sport. FICTS President met qualified
exponents of the Chinese sports world
among which the Prof. Jiang Xiaoyu

“1st MATERA INTERNATIONAL FICTS FESTIVAL”

Success of audience and critic
characterized the “Matera International
FICTS Festival” organized in the “the
Stone city” (recognized a World Heritage
site by UNESCO) by the Pol. Virtus
Matera Association presided by Antonio
Conterosito) in collaboration with
the FICTS. The Sala Consiliare “della
Memoria e del Ricordo” host the Festival
“Opening Ceremony” at the presence
of the Basilicata Region (Councillor for
Education, Work, Culture and Sport Rosa
Mastrosimone) and Province (Chairman
of the Council Board Aldo Chietera), the
City of Matera (Councillor for Culture
and Tourism Cornelio Bergantino), and
Chamber of Commerce Institutional
representatives.
The
“Awarding
Ceremony” took place on April the 20th
at Palazzo dell’Annunziata - Province
Multimedia library which host the
video projections during the Festival.
Prof. Franco Ascani, who opened the
Festival, supports – through the “Matera
International FICTS Festival” – the
Basilicata city candidature to “Culture
European Capital 2019”.

“6th VIETNAM INTERNATIONAL FICTS FESTIVAL“
FICTS in collaboration with “Vietnam Cinema of Sports & Tourism”
11th -15th June 2011
The “Vietnam International FICTS
Festival - Sport, Tourism, Movies & Tv”,
Festival organised by “Vietnam Cinema
of Sports & Tourism”, led by FICTS
President for Asia Nguyen Xuan Vinh,
took place at Nha Trang. The Vietnam
City, famous tourist destination, hosted
the “Nha Trang - Sea Festival 2011” in
which there was the Festival. The main
characteristic of this edition was tourism
and sport. The Festival, organised in the
framework of the World Championship
of the Cinema and the sport Television,
had the aim to promote more the
sport and tourism quality through the
images. The Festival included, beyond
the projections, 48 side activities (car
races, sports parachuting, etc.), some
of them connected to water sport
(windsurf), at the presence of the most
celebrated athletes of these sports
disciplines coming from Korea, France,
Cuba and PR of China.

The second edition of “Cinefoot International Football Film Festival”
came into the FICTS Family with two
important appointments in Brazil: a
itinerant Festival - dedicated to the
audiovisual that have as main topic
the football - that took place in Rio de
Janeiro from 26th to 31st May (at the
Arteplex cinema) and in San Paolo from
2nd to 5th June (at the “Museu do
Futebol”). The Fédération Internationale
Cinéma Télévision Sportifs undersigned
an exclusive partnership with the
“Cinefoot - International Football
Festival Film” directed by Antonio Leal
that expected the introduction of the
event in the Worldwide Championship
of Cinema and Sport Television “World
FICTS Challenge”. The winning works
to the “Cinefoot” made up by tv and
movie productions fully dedicated to
football, will be in competition in Milan,
from 28th October to 2nd November, to
“Movies & Tv Football Fest”. The third
edition will take place in Rio de Janeiro
and San Paolo from 24th to 29th May
2012.

The city of Lipetsk (Russia) host the “8th
Atlant International FICTS Festival”
organized by FICTS in collaboration with
the “New Cinematoghaph Company”
directed by Nikolay Porokhovink
General Director of the event. The
Festival was supported by Council of
Europe, Ministry of the Sport, Tourism
and Youth Policy of Russia, Department
of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism
of Lipetsk Region, Russian Olympic
Committee (of which is celebrates
the Centennial anniversary), the
Administration of Lipetsk Region. The
Festival was articulated in projections,
workshop, conventions, meeting with
the presence of the main television
channels among which Channel One,
the first channel in Russia. The Opening
and Closing Ceremonies expected
the presence of famous directors
and producers and champions of the
present and the past.

International FICTS Festival”. The Festival
finished with great success and with the
delivery of the Prizes to the winners

by the Sport Channel of Uzbekistan. The
Festival was organized by the FICTS Vice
President Mr Sabir Ruziev, President of
Uzbek Fencing Federation and President
of Uzbek Federation Cinema Television
Sportifs, under the patronage of the
Uzbek Olympic National Committee,
the State Tv Ministries, with the support
of Uzbek Olympic National Committee,
the Uzbek Federation of Football, Box,
Athletics, Fencing, Fight and the “State Tv

Tashkent International FICTS Festival” in

event is organized by the PANSPORT FILM &
SPORT of Mr Antonio Urano Brazilian movies
industry expert, Lucia Fares, film producer, the
Riofilme and Rio Film Commission with the
support of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro
- Department of Sport and Leisure, Ministry
of Sports, Government of Rio de Janeiro
- Department of Sports and Eletrobras.
The Festival has the aim to promote the
movies and sport culture in Brazil, especially
among the youth. The Festival is articulated
in projections, meeting, workshop at the
presence of the main Brazilian Tv channel
TV Globo and TV Brazil. The “1st RIO Int’l
Ficts Fest” will have at least 15 locations
