Im Schloss Kastelbell finden zahlreiche
kulturelle
Veranstaltungen
statt,
Ausstellungen und Konzerte sowie
Zusammenkünfte im Zeichen des Weins und
der Gastronomie. Zu besichtigen sind die
Kapelle mit Fresken aus dem 14. Jahrhundert
und die Dauerausstellung zur Römerstraße
Via Claudia Augusta, die vor 2.000 Jahren den
Vinschgau durchzog.
Schloss Juval trohnt am Eingang
des Schnalstals. 1983 wurde es von
Reinhold Messner erworben und nach
Restaurierungsarbeiten
teilweise
der
Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Die
Räumlichkeiten beherbergen Kunstwerke,
spirituelle Utensilien und Masken vorwiegend
aus dem Fernen Osten.
Von kunstgeschichticher Bedeutung ist
die Pfarrkirche von Tschars mit qualitativ
beeindruckenden Bildern und Fresken im
Kircheninneren.
Ein weiteres Gotteshaus ist die neue
Pfarrkirche von Marein, die 1974 errichtet
wurde und ein hervorragendes Beispiel
zeitgenössischer Architektur ist.
Schalensteine, die sich in der Umgebung
finden lassen, sind große Steine, die durch
Menschen angebrachte kleine Schalen
aufweisen. Die Bedeutung ist nach wie vor
unklar, im allgemeinen nimmt man eine
religiöse Bedeutung als Kultstätte an. Man
vermutet, dass die Näpfe in vorkeltischer Zeit
entstanden sind.
È difficile trovare in Val Venosta un comune
più ricco di contrasti. Castelbello e le sue
frazioni più importanti, Colsano e Ciardes,
si adagiano mediamente intorno ai 600 m di
quota, ma sono sovrastati da diverse cime che
sfiorano i 3000 m.
Si passa quindi in uno spazio ridotto da
un paesaggio mediterraneo, punteggiato
da vigne, castagni, fichi e cipressi, alle
regioni nivali, attraversando tutte le fasce
vegetative e climatiche. Nel territorio del
comune di Castelbello si trovano almeno
cinque importanti castelli. Due di essi,
particolarmente ben conservati, sono anche
in parte aperti al pubblico. Il castello di
Castelbello troneggia su di uno sperone
roccioso incombente sulla statale e sul corso
dell’Adige. Le sue origini sono documentate
già a partire dal 1180. Dopo numerosi cambi
di proprietà è passato allo stato italiano che ha
provveduto al suo restauro ed ospita nel corso
dell’anno manifestazioni culturali, concerti,
convegni eno-gastronomici.
Da visitare c’è la cappella riccamente
affrescata ed al pianterreno una mostra
permanente dedicata all’antica via romana
imperiale Claudia Augusta che 2.000 anni fa
attraversava tutta la Val Venosta.
Castel Juval troneggia come una sentinella
all’ingresso della Val Senales, un complesso
antico citato già nel 1278.
Sondaggi archeologici hanno evidenziato che
esso sorge su di un antichissimo ed importante
sito che potrebbe essere stato il luogo ove oltre
5000 anni fa vivevano Ötzi e la sua gente per
la maggior parte dell’anno. Anche questo
castello ha cambiato diversi proprietari e nel
1983 è stato acquistato da Reinhold Messner,
che dopo un delicato restauro lo ha in parte
aperto al pubblico. Al suo interno sono esposti
opere d’arte, oggetti sacri.

You can visit the chapel with frescoes dating

Juval Castle is majestically situated at the
entrance of the Schnals Valley. In 1983, it was
bought by Reinhold Messner and it was then
partially opened to the public after restoration
works. The rooms host works of art, spiritual
utensils and masks that mainly come from
the Far East. The parish church of Ciardes is
interesting for both art and history due to the
qualitatively impressing pictures and frescoes
of the interior. Another interesting religious
building is the new parish church of Maragno
which was built in 1974 and has since been
an excellent example of contemporary
architecture.
Cup-hole stones that can be found in the near
surroundings are big stones that have little
cups made by humans. Their importance is
still unclear, but it is generally assumed that
they were religiously important as places of
worship. It is supposed that the bowls date
from pre-Celtic times.

Das Schloss Kastelbell liegt malerisch
auf einem mächtigen Felsblock, der am
linken Ufer der Etsch aufragt, wo diese aus
der Schlucht der Latschander das weite
Untervinschgau erreicht. Der Felsen ist nicht
hoch, fällt aber gegen das Tal so steil ab, dass
die Burg von dieser Südseite einst als von der
Natur gesichert gelten konnte.

Il Castello di Castelbello si erge maestosamente
sulla possente rocca all’ ingresso occidentale

Associazione turistica Castelbello-Ciardes
Kastelbell Castle, which was first mentioned in
1238, but which probably dates from former
times, was built by the noble Montalban
family. After 1200, this once very powerful
noble family was fought against by the earls
of Tyrol who finally became the owners of
Kastelbell Castle. Around 1300, it was given
the jurisdiction. The owners were then
changed quite often until the castle became
a fief of the Hendl family in 1531. The Hendl
family was responsible for considerable
extensions and architectural alterations that
still constitute today’s form of Kastelbell
Castle. In 1813 and in 1824, the castle was
mainly destroyed by fire.
The earls of Hendl only rebuilt a small part for
residential purposes and therefore the castle
was destined to become dilapidated.
Places of interest:
the chapel with its frescoes from the early
14th century and the 16th century which were
restored in 2001 the so-called “old kitchen”
in the southern wing, the newly restored
palace rooms and the inner courtyard the
permanent exhibition about the „Via Claudia
Augusta“, the famous Roman road through
the Vinschgau Valley.

des Extrembergsteigers Reinhold Messner
Mythos Berg - Reinhold Messner bringt sein Erbe ein.
Mit der gleichen Begeisterung, mit der der Sammler fünf Jahrzehnte
lang geklettert, gestiegen und gegangen ist, gestaltet er nun sein
Messner Mountain Museum.
Reinhold Messner ist 1944 in Südtirol geboren, hat als Felskletterer,
Expeditionsbergsteiger, Pol- Wüstendurchquerer immer wieder
Tabus gebrochen und an den äußersten Rändern der Erde Erfahrungen
gesammelt, die es ihm heute erlauben, eine Museumskette zum
Thema Berg zu gestalten.
Im Museum auf Schloss Juval im Kastelbell-Tschars im Vinschgau,
dem Mythos Berg gewidmet, sind mehrere Kunstsammlungen
untergebracht: Tibetika-Sammlung, die Galerie mit Bildern der
Heiligen Bergen der Welt, Maskensammlung aus fünf Kontinenten,
die einmalige Ausstellung zu Gesar Ling, der Tantra-Raum und
der Expeditionskeller. Zudem der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich: die
Schlosshöfe, die Hauskapelle, der Saal der 1.000 Freuden, die
Bibliothek, die Gompa, die Höhle der Erleuchtung und zum guten
Schluss das Haus der Trolle und Gnome.
Die gesamte Ausstellung wird von geschulten Führern erklärt. Dazu
gibt es einen kleinen Bergtierpark, im Schloßwirt hofeigene Produkte,
im Unterortl exzellente Weine und am Fuß des Burghügels einen
Bauernladen. Schloss Juval verlassen alle mit starken Eindrücken.
Mythos
Der moderne Alpinismus ist 250 Jahre alt. Was vorher war, steht nirgends
geschrieben. Die Berge sind aber viele Jahrmillionen alt und Orientierungshilfe
für uns Menschen. Von Anfang an. Sie sind Ausdruck für alles, was jenseits ist
und keiner Rechtfertigung bedarf.

The castle complex situated on a prehistoric site was built in 1278
by Hugo von Montalban. In 1368, it got into the possession of the
Starkenberg family and after several different owners it was finally
bought by the Sinkmoser family in 1540. This period was the heyday
of the castle. It then got into the hands of the Hendl family who sold it
to farmer Josef Blaas in 1813. The castle became dilapidated. In 1913,
it was bought by the Dutch colonial master William Rowland who
renovated the castle exemplarily. Since 1983, it has been the residence
of Reinhold Messner and a place of several art collections: a vast
Tibetika collection, a mountain picture gallery and a mask collection
from five continents.
The Unterortl wine-growing estate and the Oberortl organic farm
(farm holidays) whose home-grown products are offered in the
Schlosswirt restaurant both belong to the complex and are therefore
part of a general concept aiming at the preservation and revival of this
small South Tyrolean cultural landscape.

Reinhold Messner è nato nel 1944 in Alto Adige. Come scalatore,
animatore di spedizioni alpistiche, esploratore di regioni polari e
deserti ha sempre aperto nuove frontiere. Messner ha raccolto la sua
vasta eredità in un progetto museale, il Messner Mountain Museum,
costituito da quattro strutture, tra cui Castel Juval. Con lo stesso
entusiasmo con cui il collezionista per cinquant’anni si è dedicato al
grande alpinismo, allestisce ora i suoi musei dedicati alla montagna.
Arroccato sulle rocce della collina di Juval nello splendido comune di
Castelbello Ciardes in Val Venosta, svetta Castel Juval. Nel maniero
trova spazio il museo che Reinhold Messner ha voluto dedicare
al “mito della montagna”. Per molti popoli in tutto il mondo la
montagna è sacra, dall’Olimpo all’Ararat, dal Sinai al Kailash, dal
Fujiama in Giappone all’Ayers Rock in Australia. Il museo custodisce
una raccolta di dipinti con vedute delle grandi montagne sacre, una
preziosa collezione di cimeli tibetani, maschere provenienti dai
cinque continenti, la stanza Tantra ed in cantina gli equipaggiamenti
delle spedizioni di Reinhold Messner. Un museo ricco di bellezza e di
emozioni. Da visitare accanto al castello i ripidi vigneti dell’azienda
agricola Unterortl e l’osteria Schlosswirt Juval con il suo piccolo zoo di
animali di montagna e vicino al parcheggio la bottega del contadino.

Von südlicher Landschaft mit Weinbauflächen, Kastanienhainen, Feigenbäumen und Zypressen, bis hin zu schneebedeckten Gipfeln – im
trockenen und milden Klima von Kastelbell – Tschars konnten die Menschen eine einbringliche Landwirtschaft aufbauen: Marillen, die sich
großer Beliebtheit und Nachfrage erfreuen, Wein der bereits den Römern bekannt war, Äpfel und der seit kurzem angebaute Spargel, der
besonders die Herzen von Feinschmeckern höher schlagen lässt.
Bereits im Mittelalter bewässerten Kastelbeller und Tscharser Bauern ihre trockenen Felder mit Wasser aus den höher gelegenen Gebieten und legten
zu diesem Zweck Waale an: außergewöhnliche Bewässerungsanlagen, teilweise über 10 Kilometer lange Wasseradern. Einige Waale werden auch
heute noch genutzt und von Wanderwegen gesäumt. Sehr schön und beliebt ist der Waal, der von Schloss Juval nach Tschars führt.
Etwas höher gelegen finden sich seit langer Zeit genutzte Weiden und Almen. Eine Wanderung zur Marzoner-, Latschiniger-, Freiberger-,
Zirmtaler-, Stierberg-, Penauder Alm oder Alt Alm, zum Zirmtalesee- oder zu den Kofelraster Seen ist ein faszinierendes Erlebnis. In diesen hoch
gelegenen Landschaftsstrichen, befinden sich Natur- und Kulturlandschaft in vollkommenem Gleichgewicht.

Famose e ricercate sono le albicocche di Castelbello, i vini della zona (già conosciuti dai Romani), le mele e gli asparagi
la cui coltura si è sviluppata negli ultimi anni e che hanno grande successo tra i buongustai. Già a partire dal medioevo
i contadini di Castelbello dovettero costruire dei canali d’irrigazione che conducevano l’acqua di scioglimento proveniente dalle regioni più alte
della Val Senales fino ai loro campi assetati.
Sono opere di ingegneria idraulica veramente eccezionali, vene d’acqua lunghe anche più di 10 chilometri. Alcuni canali (Waale) sono ancora in
servizio e si sono trasformati in piacevoli sentieri per gli escursionisti.
Molto bello e frequentato è il Waal che da Castel Juval giunge a Ciardes. Permette di compiere una passeggiata attraverso un paesaggio molto
mutevole a fianco dell’acqua che da 500 anni mormora e spumeggia. Alle quote più alte si trovano pascoli ed alpeggi molto antichi.
Una visita estiva alla malga di Marzon, a quella di Latschinig, Freiberg, Zirmtal, Stierberg, Alt Alm o addirittura all’alpeggio di Penaud (2.300 mt)
è un’esperienza affascinante.
In queste regioni alte, dove il paesaggio naturale e quello culturale convivono in perfetto equilibrio, si possono ammirare anche dei laghetti alpini
di grande fascino come il laghetto di Zirmtal e i laghetti di Covolo.

The landscape offers everything from southern scenery with vineyards, chestnut groves, fig trees and cypresses to snow-covered peaks. Due
to the dry and mild climate of Castelbello-Ciardes a profitable agriculture could be set up by the local inhabitants. Today the offer ranges from
the very popular and demanded apricots to wine which was already known with the old Romans and from apples to only recently cultivated
asparagus, a real culinary delight for gourmets.
It was in the Middle Ages when the farmers of Castelbello and Ciardes started irrigating their dry fields with water from higher areas and built
channels for the streams. These are extraordinary irrigation plants of sometimes more than 10 kilometres. Some streams are still in use today and
are lined with walking paths. The walking path from Juval Castle to Ciardes, for example, is very beautiful and popular.
The higher parts of the region have been used as meadows and alpine pastures for a long time. A hiking tour to the Marzon or Latschinig
mountain huts and alpine pastures and to the Zirmtal or Kofelraster lakes is a fascinating experience.
Natural and cultural landscapes are well balanced here.

Bei Staben steigen Sie in den Weg Nr. 1 zum Schloss Juval ein; oder Sie fahren mit dem Shuttlebus bis zum "Schlosswirt Juval", wo Sie sich für die
Wanderung stärken können. (Eventuell kurzer Abstecher zum Schloss Juval, Wohnsitz des Extrembergsteigers Reinhold Messner und Museum
mit einer umfangreichen Tibetikasammlung, Bergbildgalerie und Maskensammlung). Von dort wandern Sie entlang des Tscharser Waalweges,
durch Birkenwäldchen über den Vinschgauer Sonnenberg. Weiter durch Kastanienhaine bis zur Abzweigung Gasthof Himmelreich/Tschars.
(Genießen Sie den Ausblick von dieser herrlichen Terrasse) Vom Gasthof führt der Stabener Waalweg zurück zum Juvaler Burghügel, von wo
aus Sie mit dem Shuttlebus (Haltestelle Weingut Unterortl) ins Tal kommen (Zu Fuß Weg Nr. 1 bis nach Staben). Von da aus können Sie wieder
gemütlich in den Vinschger Zug einsteigen.

Monte Sole in direzione Stava. L'ultimo tratto conduce attraverso i meravigliosi vigneti del maso Unterortl. Un servizio bus navetta in partenza
da Castel Juval riconduce a valle. Se desiderate camminare percorrete semplicemente il sentiero n. 1 in direzione Stava, dove potete prendere il
trenino della Val Venosta.

Marillen, Almkäse, Fleisch, Wein, Schnäpse...

Immancabile è la famosa merenda sudtirolese
con l’autentico speck fatto in casa, salamini e
carni affumicati, insaccati , formaggi e gustoso
pane contadino, il tutto accompagnato da un
buon bicchiere di vino. Squisiti sono anche
i nostri dolci: i tradizionali „Krapfen“ con
vari ripieni della marmellata all’albicocca o
al papavero. Lo „Schmarrn“, omelette dolce
sminuzzata, e il classico „Strudel“ con diversi
ripieni sono prelibatezze che fanno venire
l’acquolina in bocca a tutti i golosoni.

Zirmtalerseen/ Plomboden Seen

Höhenunterschied: ca. 1.380m
Einkehr: Marzoner Alm
Ausgangspunkt ist der Parkplatz „ Alte Säge“
in Freiberg (1.400m) oberhalb von Kastelbell.
Von dort aus über den Weg Nr.7 bis zur
Marzoner Alm (1.600m). Oberhalb der Alm
bei der Weggabelung links über den Steig
Nr. 18, der auf ca.1.800 m einen Forstweg
überquert und durch eine wunderbare
Landschaft weiter zu den eingebetteten
Zirmtalerseen auf 2.114m führt.
Möglich Verlängerung der Wanderung auf
dem Weg Nr. 18a zu den Plombodenseen
(2.486m). Der Rückweg erfolgt auf dem
gleichen Weg wie der Aufstieg.

Durata: ca. 6,5 ore
Dislivello: ca. 1.380 m
Posto di ristoro: Malga Marzon
Descrizione: punto di partenza è il parcheggio
segheria a Montefranco (1.400 m) sopra di
Castelbello. Seguendo il sentiero n. 7 si arriva
alla Malga Marzon (1.600 m). Sopra la malga
al bivio si gira a sinistra e si segue il sentiero
n. 18 che attraversa una strada forestale a
circa 1.800 m e porta, attraverso un paesaggio
stupendo, ai laghi Zirm.
È possibile allungare l’ escursione proseguendo lungo il sentiero n. 18a che arriva ad un’
altitudine di 2.486 m ai laghi Plomboden. Per
ritornare si seguono gli stessi sentieri appena
descritti.

Marzon mountain hut
Short description: Start at the parking of
the old sawmill at the Schlums stream in
Montefranco (1,400 m) above Castelbello.
Take path no. 7 to the Marzon mountain
hut (1,600 m) and then path no. 18 on your
left that crosses a forest road at app. 1,800
m. Continue through a wonderful landscape
until you reach the Zirmtal lakes and a small
mountain hut at 2,114 m.
You then have the possibility to continue your
hike on path no. 18a to the Plomboden lakes
(2,486 m). Return by the same route.

Kurzbeschreibung: Ausgangspunkt ist die
Bergstation St. Martin im Kofel. (1.736
m) Von dort aus über den Weg Nr. 8
Richtung Trumsberg, Einkehrmöglichkeit Niedermoarhof. Weiter auf dem Weg Nr. 1
- 2, Überquerung des Trumsbaches. Abstieg
Richtung Tschars. Oberhalb Tschars der
Markierung Richtung Juval auf dem Weg Nr. 3 folgen. Ab dort laufen Sie den Tscharser
Waalweg bis zum Schloss Juval d. Reinhold
Messner entlang. Einkehr beim Schlosswirt
Juval oder beim Schlossbauer, beide unterhalb
Schloss Juval. Der Rückweg erfolgt mit dem
Shuttlebus bis zum Vinschger Bauernladen.
Dann zu Fuß bis zum Stabener Bahnhof. Von
dort gemütlich mit der Vinschgerbahn oder
mit dem Bus zurück.
San Martino - Montetrumes - Juval
Durata: ca. 5 ore
Dislivello: ca. 450 m
Posto di ristoro: Maso Niedermoar (1.380 m)
Il punto di partenza è la stazione a monte
della funivia San Martino in Monte (1.736
m). Prendete il sentiero n. 8 in direzione
Montetrumes (posto di ristoro: Niedermoarhof). Continuate sul sentiero n. 1-2,
attraversate il ruscello Trums e scendete in
direzione Ciardes. Sopra Ciardes perseguite il
sentiero delle rogge di Ciardes (n. 3) che porta
al Castel Juval di Reinhold Messner. Posti di ristoro: Schlosswirt Juval o Schlossbauer
(entrambi al di sotto del castello). Per il
ritorno prendete la navetta fino alla Bottega
del Contadino e camminate fino alla stazione
di Stava per ritornare in treno o bus.

Short description: Starting point is the
mountain station of the San Martino cablecar (1,736 m). Take path no. 8 towards
Montetrumes with the possibility to stop and
eat at the Niedermairhof mountain restaurant.
Continue on path no. 1/2 and cross the Trums
stream. Descend towards Ciardes. Follow the
sign no. 3 (= Ciardes irrigation channel path)
above Ciardes to reach Reinhold Messner’s
Juval Castle. There is the possibility to stop and
eat at the Schlosswirt Juval or Schlossbauer
restaurants which are both situated at the
feet of the castle. Take the shuttle bus to Val
Venosta’s farm store for returning. Continue
on foot to Stava station and take the train or
bus to return home.

Mit dem Rad auf den Spuren der Via Claudia Augusta!
Scoprite la Via Claudia Augusta in bicicletta!
Along the Via Claudia Augusta by bike!
Vor beinahe 2.000 Jahren erbauten die Römer
die einzige Kaiserliche Staatsstraße über die
Alpen die Via Claudia Augusta. Sie reichte
von Altinum nahe Venedig bzw. Ostiglia am
Po über den Reschen- und Fernpass bis nach
Donauwörth in Bayern.
Mit dem Rad auf den Spuren der Via Claudia
Augusta von Augsburg bis nach Venedig.
Sicherlich eines der landschaftlich am
abwechslungsreichsten Teilstücke erradeln
Genussradler am besten vom Reschen bis
Meran, meist abwärts.
Um den Reschen- und Haidersee schlängelt
sich der Radweg durch Wiesen und Wälder
nach Burgeis vorbei unterhalb von Kloster
Marienberg und an der Fürstenburg durch
die kleinen Ortschaften Schleis, Laatsch bis
nach Glurns.
Er durchquert die mittelalterliche Stadt
Glurns folgt dem Flusslauf der Etsch bis
zu den Fischerseen im naturgeschützten
Flussdelta des Stilfserbaches, führt über Prad
und Tschengls bis ins Marmordorf Laas.
Ein schönes Teilstück führt von Laas bis nach
Göflan und weiter nach Goldrain und Latsch.
Das im Jahre 2008 neu errichtete malerische
Teilstück zwischen Latsch und der
burgenreichen Gemeinde Kastelbell-Tschars
ist ohne große Anstrengung passierbar und
führt direkt in den Ortskern von Kastelbell.
Durch die unmittelbare Nähe der Etsch steht
einer Radfahrt mit der gesamten Familie auch
an heißen Sommertagen nichts im Wege.
Weiter über Staben und Naturns erreichen
sie das Ende des Vinschger Radweges an
der Töll kurz vor der Kurstadt Meran. Durch
das gut ausgebaute Radwegenetz besteht die
Möglichkeit, ihre Radfahrt bis zum Gardasee
bzw. Venedig fortzusetzen.

che attraversava le Alpi. Cominciava ad
Altinum vicino Venezia o ad Ostiglia sul Po e
conduceva fino a Donauwörth in Bavaria per
il Passo Resia e il Passo Fernpass.
La Via Claudia Augusta da Augusta a Venezia
in bici. Chi ama godere un’escursione in
bicicletta può trovare uno dei pezzi più
affascinanti di tutta la pista ciclabile fra Resia
e Merano. Questo pezzo della pista ciclabile
prosegue quasi sempre in leggera discesa ed è
caratterizzato da un paesaggio variato.
La pista ciclabile inizia a Resia e serpeggia
intorno ai Laghi di Resia e San Valentino alla
Muta nel bel mezzo di campi e boschi fino
a Burgusio, dove si passa sotto l’Abbazia di
Monte Maria e la scuola provinciale agraria
Fürstenburg prima di continuare per i
paesini di Clusio e Laudes fino a Glorenza.
Si attraversa la cittadina medievale di
Glorenza e si prosegue lungo il fiume Adige
fino ai laghetti di Prato nella zona protetta del
delta del Rio di Stelvio. Si continua per Prato
e Cengles fino a Lasa, il paese di marmo.
Un pezzo bellissimo della pista ciclabile
conduce da Lasa a Covelano e poi fino a
Coldrano e Laces. Si prosegue fino al comune
di Castelbello-Ciardes che è famoso per la
sua ricchezza di castelli. Questo pezzo facile
e pittoresco fra Laces e Castelbello, aperto
nel 2008, porta direttamente al centro di
Castelbello. Grazie all’immediata vicinanza
al fiume Adige una gita in bicicletta con tutta
la famiglia è ben possibile anche d’estate. Si
prosegue per Stava e Naturno per arrivare
alla fine della pista ciclabile della Val Venosta
a Tel, poco prima della città di cura di
Merano. La vostra gita in bici non deve però
necessariamente finire a Tel: la rete ciclabile
permette di continuare la vostra escursione
fino al Lago di Garda o addirittura fino a
Venezia.
Nearly 2,000 years ago, the Romans built the
only imperial road across the Alps: the Via
Claudia Augusta. It stretched from Altinum
near Venice or Ostiglia at the Po river across
the Resia and Fern Pass to Donauwörth in
Bavaria.
Along the Via Claudia Augusta by bike from
Augsburg to Venice. Enjoy pleasure biking
on one of the most beautiful and scenic parts
of the Via Claudia Augusta characterized
by its variety of landscapes and discover
the Vinschgau Valley bike path, which goes
downhill most of the time, from Resia to
Merano.
The bike path starts in Resia and snakes
its way around the lakes of Resia and San
Valentino alla Muta through pastures and
forests to Burgusio, it passes Marienberg
Abbey and the Fürstenburg (an old castle
which is an agricultural school today) and
leads through the small villages of Clusio and
Laudes to Glorenza.
It crosses the medieval town of Glorenza and
then follows the course of the Adige river
until the fishing lakes in the nature reserve
of the Stelvio stream river delta. It continues
through Prato and Cengles until the village of
Lasa which is well-known for its marble.
Enjoy a wonderful part from Lasa to
Covelano and then to Coldrano and Laces.
You continue on the new route between Laces
and the municipality of Castelbello-Ciardes
which is famous for its many castles. This
easy and picturesque part was only opened
in 2008 and leads you through the centre of
Castelbello. Thanks to the close proximity
to the Adige river a bike tour with the whole
family is also well possible on hot summer
days. You then pass Stava and Naturno and
finally reach the end of the Vinschgau Valley
bike path at Tel, not far from the spa town of
Merano. There is the possibility to continue
your bike tour to Lake Garda or Venice
thanks to the well developed bike path net.
