Vita- Salute San Raffaele is associated with the San Raffaele Hospital, a clinical, scientific and University Institution renowned worldwide and
highly specialized in every kind of illness where ‘Man’ is at the center of attention and Medicine, Research and Education are the means for
Curing the illnesses. The San Raffaele Hospital was inaugurated in 1971 and granted the status of IRCCS (Research Hospital) in 1972 . It is
accredited with the National Health Service and offers 49 clinical specialties and has more than 6000 employees..
The University forms an integral part of the Research Institute and Hospital and has 3 Faculties; Medicine, Philosophy and Psychology and 27
Specialization Schools .
It offers 12 2nd level Masters and 2 PhD courses (6 curricula each) and the following Masters (CdLM) and Bachelors (CdL) Degree courses:

San Raffaele Scientific Institute (SRSI) is one of the major research Institutes in Italy as per volume and profile of scientific output. The
scientific research covers virtually all fields of biomedical research and spawns from a variety of activities that are performed in different
Divisions, Institutes and Research Centers which occupy a total area of over 130,000 squared meters and have contributed to make San
Raffaele become renowned worldwide in the fields of Biomedical Research , Molecular Medicine and Gene Therapy.
According to the results of the VQR ( Valutazione Qualità della Ricerca Research Quality Evaluation ) done by the Anvur , the Italian National
University Evaluation Agency and with reference to the period from 2004 to 2010 , San Raffaele ranked 1st in the area of Medical Sciences
and in the comparison between Dimensions and Quality of the Structure (medium dimensions)
The Internationalization Strategy of UniSR is brought forward through:
• The Degree course in Medicine in English : The International MD Program which is the heart of the Internationalization strategy of the
University
• The International PhD School in Molecular Medicine
• The Erasmus Program
The International MD Program should not be considered just as a medical course taught in English but as a course which aims to prepare
future Physicians who have the necessary core ‘global’ competencies for the safe, effective and ethical practice of Medicine around the
world.
The courses within UniSR are promoted through campaigns on social networks and through the participation to International University
Fairs worldwide.
The IMDP admits 72 students each year. 36 places are reserved to European Citizens and 36 to Non European Citizens. The admission test
is administered in different countries throughout the world – For the 2014 intake , the test was held in 17 foreign sites apart from Milan.
What makes the International MD Program unique, is its curriculum. As a matter of fact the last semester of the 6th year is free from
lessons in order to allow the students to develop specific competencies abroad while working on their final thesis .
The mobility of students in this final year will be managed through:
• Direct contacts of UniSR Professors with Professors of foreign Universities and the creation of specific agreements.
• Registration to the GHLO – Global Health Learning Opportunities – This service offers the possibility of doing training and elective
activities in the whole world by using their International University Network.
• The Erasmus Placement network.
