8. LIFE ON CAMPUS 8.1 Courses University courses begin in late September/ beginning of October for the first semester and in March for the second semester depending from the Faculty. Student Administrative Offices publish the course calendar for every Faculty more or less one month before the beginning of the courses. Professors can communicate the calendar on Faculty personal web pages or on their office boards. Usually it is not necessary to apply for attending a course. But we strongly advise you to get in touch with the Professor of the course by email or during their office hours before the beginning of classes in order to check if that is really the course that fits your Study Plan (Syllabus). Attendance is optional, but some professor might ask students to sigh the attendance sheet. 8.2. Assessment There are three assessment sessions for Sapienza University of Rome, autumn (from September to December), winter (February) and summer session (June and July). Faculties will publish the exam calendar as soon as possible, so please visit your Faculty’s web site or the Faculty board for the exact schedule. You must register to sit for the exam, usually at least one week before the exam date. Please ask your professor for details on how to register for the chosen course. Most of the exams are oral, usually professors will decide to divide registered students into groups, sometimes separate them into more than one day due to the number of students. If that will be the case for your exam, professors will communicate it the first day of exam or some days before. If you are not satisfied about the exam’s score, you can refuse it before your professor signs for the final grade. Exams are registered in a database. Please check with your Faculty Student Administrative Office on this particular procedure for the receipt that will be released to you. 8.3. Contact your Professor You can contact your professor by e‐mail, published on her/his Faculty board or online. Otherwise, you can meet your professor during her/his office hours, please check the course board or your Faculty web site for it. 8.4. The Study Plan 28

Your Faculty will provide you with your Study Plan for your undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree called curriculum didattico. The curriculum lists all the exams you have to sit for during each academic year. Pay attention to the exams you have to take and to the assessment procedure as it may differ from exam to exam. You can change your Study Plan if: • you have changed your mind about an exam • you have changed faculty or degree, • you want an individual Study Plan. If this is your case, you must submit a request to your Board of Studies (Consiglio di Facoltà) which will approve it or not. N.B. Exam codes are very important. They indicate the examination area of the course. You have to follow your curriculum didattico when choosing your courses. If you are in your last year at Bachelor or Master level‐ be careful as the Study Plan has to be handed in together with your Degree request in the Degree Administrative Office of your Faculty. 8.5 Campus internet You can use the campus wi‐fi choosing sapienza from the available wireless network.
