service and a Helpline service. The project is coordinated by the Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca
(Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research), in conjunction with Polizia postale e delle comunicazioni (Italian
Postal and Communications Police), Autorità Garante per l’Infanzia e l’Adolescenza (National Ombudsperson for Childhood

Internet Centre Italy organises the Safer Internet Day, established by the European Commission.
PARENT TRAINING – supporting working parents
Parent Training is a training, support and consultancy project established under an agreement between UniCredit
Bank and Telefono Azzurro. The project addresses one of the most important and focal issues for every family, i.e. the
relationship between parents and their children as they grow up. Gruppo Axa joined the project in 2015.
ANTI-BULLYING LINE – In conjunction with the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research
The Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) and other organisations part of the Safer Internet
Centre Italia project joined hands to create a Helpline service through an integrated platform based on various instruments
such as a telephone line, chat, SMS, Whatsapp and Skype. The project aims at offering a platform for youths to report
their problems (bullying and cyberbullying) and request help using the communication tools they use most.

A summary of 2014
With reference to the Financial Report, 2014 was for Telefono Azzurro a year against the trend. After a period of
financial crisis that seriously affected the non-profit sector, 2014 revealed several positive elements:
• Fundraising grew by +20%. Besides income from inheritance and bequest funds which are unpredictable by nature,
Telefono Azzurro recorded a major income increase alongside income from public organisation funding under
agreements and the 114 project. The 500,000 Euros drop of public funding was countered by private funds, funds
from companies, banks and foundations.
• Income from conventional sources, for example from events and the five per thousand taxpayers contribution also
grew, though marginally.
• Our fundraising goals in 2014 regarded increasing the loyalty of our well-wishers and expanding our donor network.
Our donor loyalty campaign recorded considerable results through activities carried out as we approached
Christmas holidays, thanks to our promotional activities through the Azzurro Child Magazine and email campaigns.
We created new campaigns targeting new donors. These campaigns included the anti-bullying campaign through
support SMSs as well as new five per thousand taxpayer contribution promotional activities in tax assistance and
information centres, new awareness creation material, use of volunteers, web and social media campaign.
• Fiori d’Azzurro and Accendi l’Azzurro campaigns at national level boosted our fundraising and awareness around the
association. During the Accendi l’Azzurro campaign, old candles were replaced by light houses, the new symbol of
Telefono Azzurro.

The positive financial year report is also
a result of rationing resources. This is
observable from the considerable reduction
of main sources of expenditure.
Telefono Azzurro
According to the Un-Guru® SEECuRe method
The true added value of the Telefono Azzurro work lies in
their contribution towards creating a culture on the rights
of the child and protection of the same.
First and foremost, Telefono Azzurro has been at the
forefront in the protection of the rights of the child over the
last 27 years, thus becoming a point of reference when it
comes to fighting problems regarding abuse of minors both
at national and international level. The Telefono Azzurro
2014 Report was drafted based on an Un-Guru® SEECuRe
(Social, Economic, Environmental, Cultural Responsibility)
method, which provides for the assessment and integration
of 4 dimensions (economic, social, environmental + cultural)
for the assessment of the impact of an organisation.

Telefono Azzurro
For almost 30 years, Telefono Azzurro has been
promoting total protection of the rights of the child.
However, no one has a privileged position and the change
is determined by the joint efforts of all those stakeholder
having an educational and/or protection role.
We no longer have non-profit organisations only capable
of creating projects. Telefono Azzurro strongly enforced
this change of perspective which goes beyond the simple
response to a changing society and conditions of the child.
It is a question of decisively reaffirming our commitment
towards achieving the mission we undertook right from
the start, in the most efficient manner possible. As a

matter of fact, our mission has always been protecting the
rights of the child, in compliance with the UN Convention
on the Rights of the Child.
2014 marked a year of radical changes for Telefono Azzurro.
As a matter of fact, last year we laid the foundation for an
even greater commitment and quest to meet the future
needs – which have also changed radically – of the child
even more efficiently over the years to come.
The Web has opened doors to knowledge and growth
thus should not be condemned but used wisely. We
should use it cautiously
and responsibly without
dampening the child’s
curiosity and enthusiasm.
We should be cautious as
regards the carefree use of
the web which may expose
the child to the risks of
cyberbullying.
Our growth curve starts from the awareness that the
distinction between real and virtual no longer makes
sense and children operate in a space of relations and
communication they learn on their own and often alone.
We, as Telefono Azzurro, have reinforced our presence
in the digital world by creating a multi-channel platform
where the telephone, chat and social media as well as
other communication and messaging instruments such as
Skype and Whatsapp operate in a network.
Our growth path has reinforced the sense of community,
even beyond the digital sphere, even thanks to several
initiatives across Italy bringing supporters and volunteers
together.
