Spilimbergo - San Giorgio
della Richinvelda Valvasone Arzene
In the heart of Friuli, halfway
between the beaches of the
Adriatic coastline and the
mountains, and a stone’s
throw from the large towns,
is Spilimbergo, a municipality
that is known as the ‘Jewel of
Italy’ and the ‘Town of Mosaics’,
because it is home to the
prestigious School of Mosaic. A
few miles away is San Giorgio
della Richinvelda, where grape
growing and wine production
intertwine in trails full of
history and flavour. This is a
land that harks back to the roots
of wine. Indeed, it is renowned
internationally for its rooted
graft cuttings, and is home to
companies from all parts of
the wine production supply
chain. The village of Valvasone,
which is rightfully on the list of
Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages,
is an attractive way to end the
route. It has remained virtually
unchanged since medieval
times; once visitors are inside
the ancient town walls and have
wandered past the clock tower,
they are sure to be under the
spell of the Land of the Wolf

Take a flat area halfway between
the mountains and the sea,
provide it with a hill adorned
with a slightly austere castle
as a centrepiece, add a past of
conquests and varied influences
proven by historic buildings, mix
with lively shops, welcoming
restaurants and traditional inns,
carefully stir in cultural venues,
moisten it all with a suitable

multicoloured flowerbeds and

Eni Summer School project
Aria di Friuli Venezia Giulia
The Eni Summer School Project
stems from the idea that modern
festivals should be large hubs
of creativity and should provide
an opportunity for young
people to learn and develop.
This project, created by Eni in
collaboration with the Collisioni
Festival and Aria di
Friuli Venezia Giulia,
is giving hundreds
of youngsters from
all over Italy, and
especially from the most
deprived areas of the country,
to stay free of charge during
the festival. They will undergo
a selection process and be
divided up into specific training
activities. At the heart of the
project is the aim to get the
young people involved in
creative activities and real life
working groups, assisted by
professionals. This will place the
youngsters at the heart of the
festival, where they will perform
collaborative and specific roles,
and have access to professional
training
Music, Photography, Video
Making and Children’s
Workshops
Debate on the topic of public
education in Italy
In addition, the festival will
include a moment of reflection
dedicated to the topic of
the current state of public
education in Italy, featuring
authors, headmasters, teachers
and students. In light of the
numerous debates that have set
Italian politics alight in recent
months following the recent
school reforms, it is important
to understand how to export and
standardise the most innovative
experiences and make even the
most peripheral schools more
efficient, so that the right to an
excellent education and the duty
to provide it can be applied to all
young people in Italy
