WORLD DAY OF MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES
January 18, 2015
Pope Francis, in his message for the World Day of Migrants and Refugees, urges
us to do as Jesus did by proclaiming the good news of hope to all, especially to those
in great need. The Holy Father calls us to evangelize by good deeds of sincere
welcome and effective pastoral care. He says: “The mission of the Church… is thus
to love Jesus Christ, to adore and love him particularly in the poorest and most
abandoned. Among these are migrants and refugees who are trying to escape difficult
living conditions and dangers of every kind”.





How can pastor and parishioner best welcome migrants and refugees?

Santa Famiglia di Gesù: Celebriamo oggi la
Santa Famiglia, che è un vero modello di vita, amore,
grazia e semplecità. Ravviva in noi la venerazione
per il dono e il mistero della vita, perché i genitori si
sentano partecipi della fecondità del tuo amore, e i
figli crescano in sapienza, età e grazia, rendendo
lode al tuo nome.
Noi Sacerdoti e Suore di OLS desideriamo

Solennità della Beata Vergine Maria, Madre di Dio
è il Giovedì. È festa di precetto, così a Chiesa ci
invita ad iniziare il nuovo anno col sacramento
dell”Eucarestia e invocare la protezione di Dio e della
Madre Santissima. L’orario delle Messe sarà quello
della domenica. Non ci sarà Messa nel pomeriggio.
Adorazione del Santissimo: Venerdì, 2 gennaio,
primo del mese, dalle 3:00 alle 6:00 pm.
Messa nella Giornata Mondiale per i Migranti e
Refugiati: sarà domenica 18 gennaio in questa
Parrocchia alle 3:00 pm —una vera opportunità di
preghiera e ringraziamento per il dono della diversità
culturale e dell’altro che è un dono di Dio…
In preparazione per celebrare la Giornata
Mondiale del Migrante e Regufiato, la Liturgia
dominicale sottolinea la realtà della mobilità umana.
In vista della preparazione di questa giornata avremo
una reflessione sul tema il Giovedì 15 gennaio alle
7:00 pm.

The Holy Family of Jesus: The home of
Nazareth is the school where we begin to understand
the life of Jesus –the school of the Gospel. First,
then, a lesson of silence; a lesson of family life, as a
communion of love, austerity, simple beauty and its
sacred and inviolable character; a lesson of work
(CCC 533)
The Fathers and Sisters wish to thank the many
parishioners who have shown their affection,
gratitude and appreciation through Christmas cards,
donations and presents. God bless you abundantly!
Do not forget: today is the Spanish Community’s
Fiesta & Dance, which will take place in our parish
hall from 2:30 to 10:00 pm. Everyone welcome!
Still many sets of Sunday envelopes 2015 are
waiting to be picked up. Please pick them up today.
Please use only 2015 envelopes beginning this
Thursday. Write your name and address on the
envelopes the first couple of Sundays to assure that
each person receives the proper credit. We thank all
the parishioners who show their love towards our
Church with their faithful Sunday donation.

Solemnity of the Bl Virgin Mary, Mother of God:
Jan 1st, New Year, it’s a day of obligation. Let us
begin the New Year by attending Mass and asking
God’s blessings upon ourselves, our families and our
parish community. Mass schedule is as on Sunday.
No Evening Masses
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament this Friday,
January 2 first of the month from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.
The Archdiocese will continue to host FREE film
screenings of the documentary Red-light /Greenlight
on Jan 12, 2015 at St Joseph the Worker Parish
Gym, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm; On Jan 31, 2015 at
Corpus Christi Parish, Van, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Please encourage your family & friends to attend,
learn more about our moral teachings and how as
Catholics we are asked to respond.
World Day of Migrant and Refugee Mass will be
on Sunday, Jan 18 at Our Lady of Sorrows at 3:00
pm. NO doubt it will be an opportunity to pray and
give thanks to God for the gift of cultural diversity &
to welcome-embrace the other as a child of God!
Setting the environment to celebrate World Day
of Migrants and Refugees: the previous Sunday
(Jan 11th) Liturgy will outline this reality of human
mobility. Besides that on Thursday evening (Jan
15th) there will be a Workshop to help deepen our
understanding on this current phenomenon. All are
invited to attend...

maravilloso ejemplo de unión, respeto, trabajo, paz y

Solemnidad de la Bienaventurada Virgen María, Madre
de Dios: es el jueves primero de enero y es día de
precepto. Comencemos el año implorando la bendición de
Dios y la constante protección de María Santísima. El
horario es como el domingo... No habrá misas de la tarde.
Adoración Eucarística: es el viernes 2 de enero de
3:00 a 6:00 pm. Pongamos en manos divinas el año que
inicia...
Misal 2015: ya están a su disposición. Obténlo con las
hermanas. Es una herramienta útil en nuestra prepación
espiritual para la celebración dominical...
Documental Red light /Greenlight: Habrán dos shows
próximamente. El 12 de enero en St Joseph the Worker
Parish Gym, de 7:00 a 9:00 pm; y el 31 de enero 2015 en
Corpus Christi Parish, Van de 2:00 a 4:00 pm. Motiva a
tus conocidos: aprende sobre moral y cómo debemos
responder...
Misa para el Día Mundial del Migrante y del Refugiado:
Será el domingo 18 de enero en esta parroquia a las 3:00
pm. Sin duda, será una oportunidad para orar y dar
gracias a Dios por el don de la diversidad cultural y la
acogida-abrazo al otro como hijo de Dios.
Para prepararnos al Día Mundial del Migrante y
Refugiado, el domingo anterior resaltaremos el tema
de la movilidad humana. Además, el jueves en la tarde
habrá un taller de oración, reflexión y sensibilización.
