Presentación
La 10ª edición del Symposium Internacional sobre Terapéutica Endovascular (SITE) nos espera, de
nuevo, en el Palacio de Congresos de Catalunya.
El programa científico, como siempre, será el centro de atención para todos los asistentes. Mantendremos
nuestro compromiso de actualizar el conocimiento y experiencia en terapéutica endovascular, con una
mirada atrevida hacia el futuro. La nueva edición incluirá sesiones científicas dedicadas a revisar las
futuras tecnologías diagnósticas y terapéuticas, la actualidad en revascularización de extremidades
inferiores, controversias en el tratamiento endovascular de la aorta abdominal y torácica, ramas
viscerales y troncos supraórticos. Entre las novedades incluidas en el programa de esta edición
destacan: las sesiones de casos en vivo seleccionados del LINC, las sesiones en colaboración con otras
Sociedades o Simposios internacionales como CELA, ISES y VIVA.
Mantendremos las clásicas sesiones-competición dotadas con atractivos premios para la mejor
presentación libre, al mejor póster, y al mejor caso problema. Un jurado internacional y la propia
audiencia seleccionarán a los ganadores. Por vez primera, contaremos con un estudio de televisión
de la plataforma endovascular.TV cuya programación incluirá entrevistas a personajes ilustres de la
historia endovascular, noticias comerciales y concursos.
Al igual que en anteriores ediciones, no nos olvidaremos de los recién iniciados ofreciendo talleres
endovasculares de realidad virtual que dispondrán de un área destacada con agenda propia. Los
simposios paralelos y satélites completarán el intenso programa científico.
Como siempre, contaremos con un panel de ponentes de contrastada reputación internacional y
nacional. Todos ellos dispuestos a trasmitirnos información de extrema actualidad y asequibles a
nuestros comentarios y preguntas. Como en ediciones anteriores, uno de ellos será homenajeado por
su especial contribución al desarrollo de las técnicas endovasculares. Pero mantendremos el secreto,
por el momento.
Una vez más, vuestra participación es crucial. Vuestras opiniones críticas y discusiones pragmáticas
enriquecerán las conclusiones del Simposio.
Esperando poder saludaros personalmente en Barcelona y que disfrutéis de los contenidos del programa,

The 10th edition of the International Symposium on Endovascular Therapueutics (SITE) is waiting for
us once again in the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya (the Catalonia Congress Palace).
The scientific program, as always, will be the highlight for all those who attend. We will maintain
our promise to update knowledge and experience in endovascular therapeutics with a daring look
into the future. This new edition will include scientific sessions dedicated to revising future diagnostic
technologies and therapies, the current news in lower limb revascularization, controversies in
endovascular treatment of abdominal and thoracic aorta, visceral vessels and supra-aortic trunks. New
to this year’s program are the noteworthy best live case sessions from LINC and sessions in conjunction
with other international Societies or Symposiums such as CELA, ISES and VIVA.
We’re keeping the classic competition-sessions offering interesting prizes for the best oral free paper,
best poster and best challenging case. Moreover, both an international jury and the audience will vote
for the winners.
For the first time in SITE history we will have a television platform “endovasular.TV” which will offer a
full schedule including interviews with the great names form the endovascular world, news form the
industry and game shows.
As in previous editions we won’t forget the recently recruited and will feature virtual reality endovascular
workshops which will be set apart in a reserved area and will have their own schedule. Finally, the
parallel symposia will complete the intense scientific programme.
As always, we will have the pleasure of being able to count on a panel of expert speakers of national
and international repute. All of whom will bring cutting-edge information as well as being open to our
comments and queries. Once again, we will pay tribute to one of our prestigious speakers for his/her
outstanding contribution to the development of endovascular techniques, but we will only reveal the
secret on the day.
As always your participation is crucial. Your critical opinions and pragmatic discussions will enrich the
conclusions of the Symposium.
Looking forward to greeting you personally in Barcelona and hoping that you enjoy the program

Posters will be viewed and discussed during the coffee breaks.
The Scientific Committee will select the 6 best posters for oral presentation during the
Poster Session to take place on Friday 10th at 16.30 in the Plenary Room.
A maximum of 3 slides will be allowed for a presentation of 3 minutes followed by a 2
minute discussion.
The selected posters will be announced at the end of the morning sessions on Friday via the
audio visual systems.

financiero y comercial más importante de la ciudad. El edificio es parte del Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I
–Business and City Resort– rodeado por uno de los jardines más bellos de Barcelona. El edificio
es un símbolo de la Barcelona contemporánea, diseñado por los arquitectos Ferrater y Cartañá,
obtuvo en 2001 el “Premio Nacional de Arquitectura”. Se compone de diferentes edificios
ensamblados que le otorgan una gran funcionalidad y versatilidad, en el que la luz natural es su
principal protagonista.
The Palau de Congressos de Catalunya is located in the prestigious Avenida Diagonal, the most
important financial and business centre of the city. The building is a part of the Hotel Rey Juan
Carlos I –Business & City Resort– and is surrounded by some of the most breathtaking gardens
in Barcelona. The building itself is a symbol of contemporary Barcelona. It was designed by
the architects Ferrater and Cartañá and received the National Architecture Prize in 2001. The
complex is made up of several adjoining buildings, which together provide great functionality and
versatility, where natural light is the principal feature.

El clima local es Mediterráneo y, por lo tanto, las temperaturas son suaves durante todo el año. En

The area has a Mediterranean climate and therefore the temperature is reasonable all year round.
In May the average temperature ranges from 15 to 20 oC and it rains for an average of 2 days.

La mayoría de los comercios en Barcelona están abiertos de lunes a sábado, desde las 09:00
hasta las 20:00 h, con una interrupción al mediodía desde las 14:00 hasta las 16:00 h. Los grandes
almacenes están abiertos diariamente, excepto los domingos, desde las 10:00 hasta las 21:00. En
el centro de la ciudad algunas tiendas están abiertas los domingos.
Most shops in Barcelona are open Monday to Saturday from 09.00 to 20.00, closing for lunch
between 14.00 and 16.00. The department stores are open daily, except Sundays, from 10.00 to
21.00. Some of the city centre shops are open on Sundays.
Transporte / Transport
A su llegada al Aeropuerto de El Prat tiene la posibilidad de llegar al centro de la ciudad mediante
el tren, autobús (“Aero-bus”) o taxi. La ciudad cuenta con 8 líneas de metro, 6 líneas de tramvia y
más de 900 autobuses que conectan toda la ciudad y sus barrios.
To travel to the city centre from the El Prat Airport there is the possiblity of going by train, bus
(Aero-Bus) or taxi. Barcelona has 8 metro lines, 6 tram lines and more than 900 buses connecting
the city and its districts.
Taxis / Taxis
Existen muchas paradas de taxis por la ciudad, pero también pueden ser cogidos fuera de la parada
si llevan la luz verde de la parte superior encendida. Aunque el sistema de pago a través de la
tarjeta de crédito se va instalando en este medio de transporte, la mayoría aún no disponen de
él, por lo que es conveniente disponer de dinero en efectivo.
There are lots of taxi ranks around the city but you can also hail a taxi in the street if the green
light on the roof is lit up. Although the system of payment by credit card is in the process of being
installed in taxis, a lot still do not have this system. It is therefore advisable to carry some cash.
