69 years of production, 66 years of activity held by the same family.
Business started thanks of the creativity and the ingenious of Mr. Enea Buzzi who invented his first
pipe with a cover that could firmly close the bowl , and thanks of two hidden holes could be
smoked outside also with a strong wind without risks of fire, or in the rain, but it was also
appreciated as it could warm up the hands in cold season. ( At that time the modern heating did not
exist)
The first series production of 1.000 pcs. was set up by the Rossi historic factory( 1876-1975) for
Brebbia and fast sold out, but for the joung Enea the opportunity came when Rossi could not repeat
the order as the pipe-business at that time being was booming due the new deal. For Mr Buzzi it
was time to find the capital to start to produce pipes by himself.
With a new great idea ,that was an evolution of the prior one, and due the fact he had no money to
buy the machinery he started to hand carve artistic pipes of contemporary VIP of the time like :
Truman, Churchill, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy and to sell them into U.S. and G.B.
In this case the cover was the hat of the figures and the hidden holes communicated with the nose of
them.
Puffing the pipes with the chimney closed with the hat the smoke come out from the nose of the
VIPS. Customers appreciate the funny idea, the fine carving and started to buy.
The story of M.P.B. ( Manifattura Pipe Brebbia ) , later “Brebbia”, the partnership with the selling
genius Achille Savinelli , and all details of the Brebbia story is well described in the booklet
enclosed in the packing of our commemorative “ MUSEUM” pipes.
We also brought at new life our old M.P.B. logo 7 years ago.
Under this brand we sell Vintage and traditional pipes, Sterling Silver pipes and our pipes of the
year .
