Multiluminescent nanostructures: The correlation between the
crystallographic structures and the morphologies of a family of
nanostructured lanthanide–phosphono–carboxylates has been investigated.
The luminescence spectra and lifetime distribution of the excited states of
these multiluminescent materials was also studied.

A new luminescent pillared Cerium sulfate–aminodiphosphonate has been
prepared and its structure was solved ab initio from X-ray powder
diffraction data. The inorganic layers are pillared from the bispipiredine
groups belonging to the diphosphonic groups, alternating with the sulfate
tetrahedra.

Supramolecular interaction of a spirooxazine
with amino acids.
Chem. Phys. Lett., 444 (2007) 135-139.
Upon UV irradiation, a spirooxazine converts into a photomerocyanine
which can interact with zwitterionic amino acids. The strength of this
interaction, which is governed by a steric factor, results in a negative
catalysis of the thermal back conversion of the merocyanine to
spirooxazine.

[2,1-
b][1,4]oxazine] in solid phase: photochromism,
piezochromism and acidichromism
New J. Chem., 28 (2004) 379-386.
The 1,3,3-trimethylspiro(indoline-2,3′)-[3H]naphtho [2,1-b][1,4]oxazine)
in solid phase is sensitive to different external stimulations: it can be
coloured by UV irradiation, increasing pressure and lowering the
environmental pH. Thus it can be defined as a “multi-way” optically
switchable material.
