

all).

753 BC  foundation of Rome.
The legend of Romolo e Remo.

The Roman Empire (Julius Caesar – Caligula – Nero – Augustus …).

Decline of the Empire – presence of the Catholic Church in Rome – the
Papal States were created.

Foreign rule (Spain, France [Napoleon]…).

1870 – Italian unification. Lazio was incorporated into the Kingdom of
Italy.
L’ECONOMIA
• Agriculture is the main traditional source of income.
• Industrial development in Lazio is limited to the areas south
of Rome.
• 75% of the working population are employed in the
services sector (Rome).
